After a second watch I think my fav subtle moment of this video was around 4:55 when they're talking about Dil almost wetting the bed. Phil says he almost wet the bed last night and before Dan does the over exaggerated "ur so weird" face for the camera, he shoots Phil a panicked like "what the actual fuck" look. Unless I'm reading too much into it (which is super likely I just prefer my demon version better tbh) someone take my phan goggles away from me pls.

Also, System of a Down and the Room references. The "cool story bro" actually made me laugh out loud. They were super bouncy and adorable in this vid. Could definitely rewatch it later.

Off topic longboye thoughts:
I never said it fit well, but he's in there man. I'm fascinated by their size - I think more so their height as I'm a fellow tall freak of nature. Cameras and photos can be super deceiving. In their Japanese themed merch on the shop I believe they were both wearing Larges(?) and those fit a bit baggy so I think they lean towards M/L. They seem much lankier than I imagined.

(You don't need to hide the comments about the clothes they wore in the video/merch they've worn before, it's not off topic! Nothing that actually has to do with Dan and Phil is off topic for this thread, though this specifically is super relevant right now since you're talking about the video that they just posted.)

Okay I definitely gotta say I agree with your demon version, I think they might have a default mental 'red alert' when it comes to anything that has to do with beds or sleeping.

I hadn't noticed that! It's super short and I had to go basically frame by frame to catch the look, but there was a fraction of a second where Dan does the "wtf" face before switching over to his The Office-esque looking into the camera

I'd write a long post with commentary but I can't be arsed and I have Digimon Tri episodes waiting for me, but I did really enjoy this video. Depsus are bigger city people than I thought, they seem really into penthouses

I love the new merch! Dan looks gorgeous in Tabitha's shirt; and Phil in black, well, what can I say?

I'm surprised Dan fits in a small, I don't think I fit into one of those and I'm quite petite, and I always pictured him as taller/bigger than me.

The video was lovely but I just spent like... a month or so, playing the sims 4 with all the expansions, so I did know what to expect. Also, I've been having a few bad days so maybe I'm a bit moody and I couldn't really enjoy the video. So, definitely worth a rewatch.

Some random thoughts:
-Phil pocking at Dan's nipple

sometimes I'm still surprised that we get to see these type of interactions.
-When they talked about where they would want to live. It reminded me of "this is not a forever home"

-Dan's face when Phil was talking about wetting the bed. Amazing. I would love to see more of these domestic discussions/banter.

-A six hours livestream of the Sims? It would never happen but: YES, please, prove me wrong.

The new video was very funny and the boys seemed to have fun making it.

I could not help laughing at Phil's inability to focus on anything but Dan's t-shirt being very tight

Reminded me of the first Pokemon Go episode and Phil focusing the camera on Dan's very tight leggings. We never did see those again and I doubt we'll be seeing that shirt either

Ewok I noticed that as well, Dan definitely looked like he panicked for a split second there before he remembered they were filming.

Side note. I don't know how many other Sims fans lurk here but as someone who's been playing Sims since the original series it seems to have taken the developers forever to get to a city expansion. In fact the whole game seems to be getting updates at a much slower rate. Perhaps it just that they cut so much content like toddlers for the Sims 4 which was in the base game even as far back as Sims 2 that the updates they've been releasing aren't as exciting. It's all basic stuff that should have been in the original pack.

Idk maybe it's the nostalgia clouding my vision.

I've not really bothered to play much of it myself, aside from the lovely graphics it got old fast and I downgraded back to Sims 2 & 3 which just seemed to suit my play style more. I think it's a credit to Dan and Phil's content that they're now the only Sims 4 video makers I watch anymore. They've managed to keep me entertained.

Also is it just me or is Evan dressed like Velma from Scooby Doo? Because that's what my brain jumps to.

Video thoughts:

- Their openness about where they'd want to live, the consistent 'we' and 'our.' The conversations in today's video might have been about the game but it shows us where their mind is and how unconcerned they are with censoring their words or rephrasing things to give nothing away. I think we can effectively close the door on the era when Dan and Phil tried to seriously imply that they were planning for futures without each other.

- The conversation about the art gallery. Leela/nihilist-toothpaste has already effectively said this on tumblr (in fact, we often have almost the same thoughts, which is why I rarely make post-video thought posts on tumblr - way too easy to reblog her brilliance) but this seemed directly drawn from real life experience. Dan is the type of person who wants to enjoy the culture and maybe treat it with a bit of gravity, Phil just wants to play a dog spotting game. But when pressed slightly Dan agrees that the game is fun and they seem to teasingly and very nonchalantly accept the differences in opinions. I desperately crave this kind of insight into how they function together so seamlessly, so this was super satisfying.

- The casual physical affection and the casual compliments; Phil poking Dan's nipple, Dan saying Phil is rocking the shirt. I love Phil looking Dan up and down multiple times, and I love Dan making it obvious that he was looking at Phil through the camera screen.

- Phil sharing stories continues to be fantastic. I feel like he's got so many things in his head, he seems to place a lot of importance on memories he's made with people he cares about and he gets genuine pleasure out of retelling them. And the Anja mention!

- Definitely feel like they're building the Dab and Evan friendship into Something. I halfway expected them to say Evan would live with Dab in the penthouse in their future plans/headcanons. (But I think they're gonna need an entire episode devoted to socializing Dab and Evan together if they want to make them actually friends. They're just not interacting a ton even when they have Evan over. In fact, episodes focusing on one Sim at a time would be pretty much the only way to effectively get anything done from now on since they've got four to juggle. Or three, because Tabitha who?)

- Phil saying he had to take the bus thirty minutes into town/Manchester reminded me that every time Dan came to visit him that first year, Phil met him at the train station. He basically spent an hour on a bus round trip just to be able to properly greet Dan and send him off properly.

Damn, that was cute. They were both cute as hell in those tshirts. Add me to the list of people surprised and impressed that Dan fits a women's small. He's pretty big and broad, I guess boobs take up more room than we realise cos I'd have thought a women's medium would be too small on him

I think Tabitha's actual tshirt is a bit more detailed and the grey hearts on Dil's are darker, but still interesting to think of what agreement they must have with EA.

The city pack was out a while ago and if I remember rightly there was a game in Sims 2 that they could play together called Myshuno. It was some contraption like a table with a dome, I don't know what the game was. It doesn't correspond to a city that I know of, maybe the developers just liked the name (or the Sims 4 team being separate from Sims 2 somehow came up with the same name by themselves).

I think that's about all I've got, I was mostly just here for them being adorable. So many closeups of Dan's freckles too, so pretty.

- I have no merch opinions as I am not a merch kind of a gal in the first place, and I think it's very unlikely I would ever buy Dan and Phil merch regardless of how nice it was.

gah, that was a good ep. and the sims has to be my least favourite thing they film these days.
i'm not sure i have anything further to add than the above comments, agree with all of it, they gave us lots of personal insight and anecdotes.

i loved phil's cheeky 'what do you think the meaning of that art is?'. he gets so much joy from teasing dan's serious contemplations, but dan also seems to get joy from that dynamic and poking fun in turn at phil pretending not to care- when i think he does care, at the right moments, about the right art (ditto philosophy, politics, science, etc, whatever it is). they have this playful dynamic that illuminates the tendencies they demonstrate less often, eg. dan's ability to be utterly silly and not seek deeper meaning but be irreverent, and phil's ability to hold and voice a strong opinion and personal taste.

12.49 - dan: "you could come here for some private gallery canoodling". this was an...interesting comment to me because he made it after viewing an empty room (no other gallery attendees, no security guard). is this from personal experience?

I hardly dare hope Dan actually chose something I suggested, though my purple suit was amazing and the silver trousers would be hilarious, but it'd be great if he's got him into some ripped jeans or something unusual, but hot. There were a lot of good suggestions among the silly ones and quite a few were ripped jeans (apparently we all want to see him dress like Dan).

Maybe something a little "edgy," because he can have this intensity and darkness (some of his oldest videos are downright unsettling) that his usual fun tees and button downs don't really emphasize. Phil is such a pretty man. Hoping they maybe find something sharp and sleek to show off those shoulders!

I'm kinda feeling a Sunday upload. I don't think today would be realistic between editing and sims. Monday they'd give space for Louise. Tuesday maybe? Then dan might cancel ls (possible bc it will be another two months). Otherwise Wednesday onwards would seem to interrupt their recent at least two vids a week gaming schedule.

Idk I'm rooting for Sunday but Tuesday would make sense as well..

The Sims video was so cute?? I haven't enjoyed a sims episode in quite a while, even their building video wasn't top notch for me and I'm a slave for sims building videos, they're my asmr. But this was so cute and flirty and just..adorable. The nipple poking had me stopping the video to actually make sure this was a thing, 2017 is the year we can see nipple poking without stupid remarks. Wow. And Dan checking out Phil AND pointing it out on camera??

After that video I went back to their ver first sims episode and there's a starking difference in how they portray themselves to the camera, but also it's so funny to remember Dil was supposed to be their combination, not their son.

I would love for Phil to post tomorrow, he usually doesn't wait too much to post his videos after filming them, so i think it might be possible. I'd love for Dan to talk about all his fashion choices for Phil and give us an insight of why he thought that would look the best... I'm really hoping he'll be on camera too but I really have no idea how they'll manage if they're filming in the closet room.

I caught Phil saying at one point in his liveshow yesterday that Dil was their child in the sims and it stood out to me for that exact reason. I'm laughing at how far we've come! Despite all the talk of personas, they do seem a lot more comfortable in front of the camera now than they did then. I will take today's gaming channel content over 2014-2016 any day.

Also interesting to note that Phil started the series controlling the mouse...we all know what happened to that (i do believe it comes down to them being too lazy to switch out dans left-handed mouse, so dan just does the controlling)

Every time I watch the first sims video I think about how different everything would have turned out if they'd made a sim Dan and a sim Phil. Since they were probably about to do that, seeing as they called it the "obvious choice."

Instead of the domestic little family we have where they refer to everyone as their children, we'd watch them make Dan and Phil fall in love with other people and grow separate sim families.

Or maybe the phannies would make them stop the series immediately.
Either way, very different version of the gaming channel.
