the real question (that no one but me asks) is will we ever get a Tumblr Tag 4?
I think I’m the only one but I literally have no interest in them making another tumblr tag. They are never videos I will go back and watch except maybe the last one... I don’t think there is much to react to except weird tonge edits. I don’t think they will be doing another one soon at least that’s the feeling I get everytime someone asks dan about them in liveshows.
Edit: bring back going deep with dan and phil! I want more of that
Yes please!

I feel indifferent towards the tumblr tag videos. I remember that I enjoyed them but I haven’t watched any of them a second time. What I LOVED though was the face swap challenge and the photo booth challenge. I know those are the silliest possible videos ever made on youtube but I rewatch them like, every 2 weeks when I’m having a shitty day. I wish d&p uploaded short light-hearted videos to their side channels or something(like the gummy bear prank and other try new things)
Unpopular opinion but I can’t stand watching the photo booth challenge or face swap. However I’m all for little side channel vids. I love try new things and if that became like a tiny series while on tour I’d be very happy.

Photo Booth Challenge and Face Swap are among my least favorite videos. Totally not my sense of humor! But it's fine--not every video is going to be to everyone's taste. (I like pinof 4, for a really unpopular opinion.)
Oh shit I didn't know there was art theft in the tumblr tag, but sadly I can't say I'm not surprised. In that case I can understand why some don't like it and I'm glad it's over. Thanks for explaining guys.
Ah, the try new things series. I still watch them all. It's prime domestic deppy content imo I love it.

Another issue is people tagging other people's work for Phil to see, so it's not actually consensual even if that's the intent. I don't know if it was the bondage pic or the making out with the earphones one (or something else entirely! someone correct me if this is actually a thing), but I'm pretty sure the artist didn't want D&P to see it (or at least didn't want it broadcast on their channels for ridicule), but somebody else did it on their behalf. Basically the tumblr tag is just prime opportunity for art theft for the lols and usually somebody ends up with the short end of the stick. That said, I've definitely enjoyed the tumblr tags and would maybe love another one if it could actually be done without any of the aforementioned issues that crop up, but
yeah, didn't the artist of the bondage art have to deactivate because someone had reposted their art for Dan and Phil to see? That seems like a big issue with the tumblr tags.
Also, I agree about not liking the faceswap video (even though it was the first video I watched of them)
The Tumblr Tag videos were content I watched forever ago, way before I knew who Dan and Phil were and got into them, so I'll always hold them a little dear- but yeah I can't really go back and watch them anymore. Same goes for a lot of their videos that were being discussed earlier, especially in the "2011-2013" window- it's weird watching that version of DnP when I've gotten so used to 2017!deppy
I actually feel like I missed out big-time by getting into the phantom in the post-baking-universe, because I can't go back and watch a lot of videos I might have enjoyed in a different context. Like there's a ton a videos I now don't get to watch because they're spoiled by my perspective, if that makes sense? I can only really enjoy content they put out post-baking, so now I never get a shot with hours of content that older fans got to enjoy.
The artist whose bondage art was tagged by someone else did delete their nsfw blog and was mortified, but is still around and loves the guys enough that they were forgiven by the end of the week. Still I thought the fact they included it was thoughtless of them especially with that reaction as the thumbnail and then the video inc that part was used at the start of the next radio show as usual even after Phil had tweeted about the whole thing.

Also I know I was just shit talking the gaming streams, but I'm kind of hoping for a surprise one later today.... someone slap some sense into me
I really didn't think we would get anything before next week but it's already 8pm and still no mandatory tweet of the day from neither of them... I mean they might be busy with Dan's video (and Phil's sick) but now I'm getting my hopes up, ugh.
edit :
that's very interesting, thanks susan2 for all this info ! Tbh, I literally have no point of comparison to know if this tour is selling well or not but 1/6 sold out doesn't seem too bad considering it's a huge tour?
If someone has similar data for TATINOF (like for the US leg) it could be interesting to compare. I guess even if it sells less, it could still be more profitable because there seems to be way less equipment and people involved overall.
Ooh, you're awesome for taking the time to sort through those, @susan2.
I think their choice in venue definitely plays a big part in it. They sold Austin decently last time, not a complete sell out but it was pretty clear only the far back sections were left. But... that venue held 2900 people at capacity, the one they're in near Austin this year holds 8000. Even if they were to sell just as many tickets this time as last time it wouldn't even come close to filling half the venue.
The only thing I can think is that money wise this just worked out better, picking a bigger venue but not properly in Austin was still cheaper. It's gonna definitely make them look undersold by sheer numbers on paper, though.

Ohh this is v interesting, thank you. I was wondering a few days ago about how ticket sales were going.
I find it interesting he’s listed examples of memes on his tumblr. I mean he’s pretty much just laid them all out, so is he going to just pick his faves from the funniest of that list? Did he do that last year too? I don’t remember.
Also funny that most of them are he and Phil both. Like everyone else already said, no way it could be solo Dan memes for 20+ mins.
Also also, that he’s given permission for people to make memes about his depression? I haven’t seen ANY memes about that. Hmm.
Permission for depression memes eh? Were there even any at the time? Or is that segment just going to be people repeating Tom’s joke from the Truth Bombs vid? I don’t know, looks like pretty slim pickings this year, gl Dan.

Yeah, the first time Dan said that half the shows were sold out, I was like "that's bullshit, sweetie" and then he said it again later on for some reason? I have no clue where he got that idea from because I do think the ticket outlets or whatever would provide them with information concerning the ticket sales.
I'm sure tickets will still be sold in the upcoming months and that it will be quite profitable, even if not every show sells out (which isn't gonna happen lbr, especially the venues that have a very large capacity and it isn't that big of a deal, considering I doubt all that many theatre shows sell out in general).
In regards to Dublin, there are only general admission tickets left at this point and if my calculations are correct, there are less than 300 unreserved seats. I also believe Melbourne's got less than 300 tickets left at this point, since I checked it some time in December and took this screenshot
Re:memes, welp seems like Dan is definitely gonna do a Top Dan Memes of 2017 now! I heard from people that there actually weren't that many memes in 2016 either and he still managed to make a 23 minute video out of it, so I'm sure he'll be able to make something fun with what he's got right now.

I have no clue where he got that idea from because I do think the ticket outlets or whatever would provide them with information concerning the ticket sales.
I'm pretty sure they did this last tour as well. Like Phil would say there are still some tickets at [insert location here] and Dan would reply "Really? Well you guy better get those quick before they sell out." Like of course Dan knows all this but it's just a way to market. Plus Dan is the king of over exaggerating. They chose larger locations this time around so they are definitely not going to sell out as many shows but I think it will do as well as TATINOF.
Sorry for the double post but I just read through the meme submissions on tumblr. I think he will have enough content to make a decent video but there is some stuff I'm worried about.
First off there are NO depression memes. It took a lot of people a week to even treat Dan in the same way- by that I mean after the vid people were like we have to be EXTRA nice to Dan and stop being mean to him etc. If someone made a meme about it I'm sure the phandom would have been outraged at the person.
Secondly I think after Dan explained about 'that week in march' people felt bad about turning it into a shit storm. Also the most prevalent theory was that Dan and Phil's plans on buying a house fell through and they had to move into the place they have now. I highly doubt Dan would put that in a video.
Lastly going off of this: the whole Dan and Phil moving thing. Like it was VERY demon and phan-centric, which again I doubt would go in the video. The thing w/ the 2015 one it that a 'dan meme' would just involve him and anything phan would get quite a bit of hate on tumblr because people would say you're disrespecting dan and phil by bringing up phan. Now deppy have dropped a lot of their built up walls and typically phil will be involved in something to do with Dan. That's why it worked back then but now it's hard to wade through everything to find a dan only meme.
edit: i realised i said pretty much exactly what @hello9217 said above me, and far more eloquently so read her post instead lol
but i'm still serious about the new thread name. ever since it was suggested i can't seem to get it off my mind, it's just too good
also we're so close to 40 pages, but i really hope we can hit it by monday because i think it's only appropriate to call the next thread "poptropica 2: dragon #spon"
Every damn year he promises to change his Tumblr theme yet it's still that. I'm starting to legitimately get upset every time I'm reminded of it. He hasn't actually used his blog for anything but self promo in months though, so I doubt he ever will at this point.
Anyway, looking at the list I notice that I have some fond memories of some of these things and the accompanying discussion and shit posting here. But knowing Dan is gonna acknowledge all this shit and react to it really kills the magic for me tbh. I don't really want to know what he think about our wild That Week In Match conspiracy theories.

First off there are NO depression memes. It took a lot of people a week to even treat Dan in the same way- by that I mean after the vid people were like we have to be EXTRA nice to Dan and stop being mean to him etc. If someone made a meme about it I'm sure the phandom would have been outraged at the person.
I agree, there are no memes to be found there. I'd be pretty uncomfortable with.
Hell, some people are still being extra about Dan's mental health. I was snooping on random accounts that retweeted a phannie related tweet of mine and stumbled upon discourse where people took Dan being his dramatic ass self about the upcoming meme video as him not actually wanting to do it and giving in to pressure from fans while in a bad mental state. Like listen children, Dan hasn't made a video he really doesn't wanna make on his main channel since he dropped Truth Or Dare from his annual traditions. I know they're worried and stuff but some people take it to extremes.

Some of the things he’s requesting as memes aren’t memes! Like depression, that week in March and moving. As someone said that week in March and the moving was all about “phan” and speculation, I don’t see how that could or was made into a meme because people were serious? I really hope no one goes outta their way to make depression memes, not because I think people will go to far I just don’t see how it’s needed because there were none. After seeing everyone be like why is he making this video there wasn’t any memes I do get it in the sense of memes, he could do a review of all the things that happened last year and includes memes. I think if he did that then there would be room for more things that he asked for like the week in March and moving theory’s. ALOT of things happened last year and it could be a really good video.

Ohhh thank you so much for doing this, I love stats like this. Just looking through I am glad that out of the two UK shows they have sold out, Basingstoke is one of them because for tatinof the theatre was literally only half full (if that). Was such a lovely venue that I would have gone had I not had tickets for something else that night.
re: the drought - do you know what, I personally haven't felt any drought post gamingmas. I have actually enjoyed them having time off because it means I'm not scrabbling to catch up on videos or content. Plus it has given me time to actually do stuff irl rather than procrastinating with deppy related activities! I did try and re-watch some of their old videos today but I only managed one or two because it felt so weird. I never realised how much I prefer Dan's hair now to back then, it looks so weird in old videos, I can finally say I'm glad he embraced the curls.
I have sent two edits in for the memes video, i'm not going to say which though because there are too many lurkers here (& the phandom is well known for stealing images) but one of them is wanking!dan related. I know he probably won't even see them in the thousands of submissions that he'll get but I hope if he does see it, he'll find it funny
Wow a list. It’s almost like he’s heard people saying “what 2017 Dan memes?” and decided they need a reminder, or guidelines. I agree it spoils the vid a bit but I’m still looking forward to it and seeing what he’ll chose. As long as he doesn’t go fake over the top dramatic. Laugh with us, don’t make yourself scream and cry. Who am I kidding? He’s the King of Hyperbolic Humor.
I’m sorry this barely qualifies as Dan and Phil related but these tweets are killing me:
lool what would Dan think about this? I wonder if he ever watches Shane Dawson these days (even just out of morbid curiosity) or if he’ll ever mention him again. Have they ever spoken beyond that unfortunate leather-shirted vidcon meeting? What would they even say? Does Dan regret ever thinking of him as an inspiration, or is it just something he accepts as another part of his past to cringe at? Or is there still respect there? I don’t care how many floors their flat has, these are the kinds of pointless meaningless questions I crave the answers to.

I'm pretty sure Dan does the list thing every year. He asks twitter first to get a feel of what memes people suggest and then he composes a list based on that for tumblr to submit posts.
Here is the one from 2016: http://danielhowell.tumblr.com/post/136 ... all-memers
Was just watching this Ryland video, and at 8:20 he's talking about how he and Shane call each other 'dad'. It just instantly made me think of how Dan has been calling Phil 'dad' lately, and how a lot of people take it as just a joke. It caught my attention that a couple calls each other 'dad' completely unironically. I don't really have a point, just that it caught my attention and I thought it was cute, and also made me think of Dan calling Phil 'dad' a lot, even outside of videos.
