I feel like Dan might have had a momentary internal panic knowing he'd already told us he bought a weighted blanket, and then having Phil suddenly be like, "Weighted blankets!" in a video. Dan's "I want one of those" keeps a bit more distance between it, like they're both just acknowledging something they've seen on the internet, as opposed to the reality of Phil having just brought up something that Dan has already bought for their bed. Ooo Dan not telling Phil about his late night shopping splurges? :daddy:

I'm glad they posted, what a cute video! :love2: Whatever kind of mood Phil was in, I loved- he was so funny and suggestive today, I'm here for it :D and the small little spon in the middle- just couldn't resist, huh Lester? ;) (not that I mind, the plushies are very cute...)

Making Devan canon is definitely a little staged/fanservice-y, but I'm glad they're doing it. It'll be interesting to see what direction they take this in, and I'm probs gonna get a whole lot more into the Sims series all of a sudden

side-note: It was interesting to hear what they call "ding dong ditch", I always thought that was the universal term for it but I guess I was wrong.

Thank you! (and thanks autumnhearth! There was an attempt and I appreciate it)

Okay just watching that part a few times, my conclusion is... idk. If Phil bought it, wouldn't he have said something like that rather than 'that's something I've seen'? Because it's such a mundane purchase - no offense to any weighted blanket enthusiasts out there - there would be no need to be cagey about it. Maybe he just had it on the mind after hearing Dan talk about buying one (or maybe it's something Dan bought because Phil's been talking about them lately (after seeing them on instagram...? was somebody draped in one while otherwise-shirtlessly washing a horse..?) and it's a surprise? But not like a major-deal surprise so who cares if he mentioned it in a liveshow since it was just a part of a bunch of other things he bought during retail therapy?). Or they are in fact symbiotes as jacksepticeye said and they just have a shared consciousness.

No, but whichever one of them actually bought it or intends to use it, they're both aware of it either way (except in the 'surprising Phil' scenario that I just made up and his birthday was last month so why), so it makes sense for it to be on the shared brain. Dan just seemed chatty in his need-to-be-entertaining way (but that's without seeing the whole video, so maybe there's a huge difference in his demeanour I don't have context for, idk) and maybe chose to say "I want one" rather than "I bought one" since that might lead to a boring anecdote about online shopping (that he already covered in the ls) and saying 'want' just moved it along better? They'll both be trying that blanket out either way, so I think this is a pretty low stakes thing for them to (maybe) get weird about.

edit: lol my brain turned "brought it up" into "bought" and I've had a long day. Ignore parts of the above lmao. But I still think it was just a thing they both had on the brain and nobody intended to 'hide' anything, just chose some weird phrasing for the flow of the vid
Thanks and have a great day! Oil me

Why is it a problem if they "stage" things in the Sims? It's a puppet game and you can make them do whatever you want - that's the point of the game. Just watching the AI and waiting for something to happen is pretty boring.
(I don't like it when they pretend that something happened by chance though)

I agree. It's rare that something happens by chance in the Sims. Maybe the occasional house fire or burglary or something but usually you have to push your sims in a certain direction or else it's boring as hell and nothing happens. I love manipulating my sims and breaking up all the families and making everyone queer. It's cathartic.

I loved this episode, making Devan a thing is something I expected to happen but it's also so great they do that. They did shy away from Dil being with a man, so I think it's nice to see how times have changed :ribena:

With the weighted blanket thing it’s clear dan wasn’t telling the truth in either the liveshow or the gaming video. Now it could be he wants to buy a weight blanket and decided to say he did in the show but actually hasn’t. Or it could be he fibbed in the gaming video and just said yeah I want one knowing he ordered one but thought it was something a bit too person not ALL people should know. Now for saying they bought it for their bed.... what I have always known weighted blankets to be for is anxiety and it’s meant to calm a person to sleep. I know some women who are having a hard time after pregnancy use them for emotional comfort. In dans liveshow he played off it as cosplaying with his fav anime characters was the reason wanting one. I don’t see this blanket is something they got to share on a bed as a throw... it’s not something to decorate your bed with to look nice. So I’m a bit confused on that part

Eh, I would agree that a weighted blanket is not for sharing between two people at the same time, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be used at night by one person in a shared bed, or that Dan won’t let Phil try it, but I think Dan bought it for himself, unless he bought two. This winter my husband and I finally switched to separate blankets (during the summer I usually just use a sheet, while he gets the comforter) and it’s made such a difference in my sleep, not just in not having to fight over the comforter in the middle of the night, but because this blanket is a bit heavier and can just cocoon me. I would probably benefit from a weighted blanket, but can’t afford one right now. They are said to help with anxiety and depression. So my thought on the fib is just that Dan was having a bit of a rough start to the year (nothing major or that I’m overly concerned about) did some recent therapeutic online shopping (earrings and blankets) vented about it in his ls and *maybe* didn’t tell Phil, or perhaps didn’t feel like sharing in the gaming vid. Or maybe Dan’s next vid is/want going to be about online retail therapy if his stuff arrives in time and he didn’t want to give too much away to the DAPDs audience :illuminati:

He did bring up the use of it for anxiety in the liveshow so I don’t think he entirely played it off, he just ended on a joke. I think if they were still doing weekly liveshows, trying out the blanket would be something they both talked about casually in a week or two (because even if it’s not for joint sleeping, Phil is obviously going to test it out). Who knows, maybe they got 2 (as Phil also talks about being anxious all the time) and that’s what Dan ‘lied about’. I don’t even care, I just haven’t seen the vid yet so have nothing else to comment on lol. I did see their Sim dog was wearing a cute little outfit though and I’m excited about it.

Why do I actually want to watch that? I mean he did say he was fleshing out a few ideas so something related to the purchases he mentioned could be a possibility...

I just took the weighted blanket thing to be a little white lie to make it more interesting, just like Phil saying that his mum has a nurse friend rather than saying that he bought a DNA testing kit in that video from last year. My initial thoughts were that Dan just felt that "I wanna get a weighted blanket" sounded like more of an interesting anecdote than "I bought a weighted blanket last week."

I live in Ontario and we call it Nicky-Nicky-Nine-Doors (no clue why), so actually thought Ding Dong Ditch was the British term! Apparently not.

Love the wonderful Sims video. Normally I don't rewatch specific Sim videos (but I'll rewatch the whole thing every once in a while), but this one will be an exception. <3

I have been super busy and am just catching up on the last 5 pages, so sorry there may be quite a big post.
susan2 wrote: Thu Feb 22, 2018 9:34 am (I'm still sceptical) but if it is legitimately a largely different show every night (aside from the framework) with some sort of interactive input beforehand, that'll surely be totally exhausting. For them to be "on" all the time, and also make it funny every time. I agree with whoever said earlier that I hope they're not adding too many additional shows, their schedule is already pretty relentless, when you factor in + 6 x tbc dates (probs) + all the travel + additional dates + don't forget that online content lads ;)

Image
Thank you for posting that schedule image, it makes me realise how busy they are going to be. I wonder when they sat down and planned the dates why they didn't give themselves more time in-between. The days when they have 2 shows, wow, thats a full on get-up-at-8am day as they'll have two meet and greets to do as well as both shows, it must be very tiring! Even on the day when you only have one show, psyching yourself up to do the m&g and the show must be quite stressful. I am going to be honest and say I do not hold out much hope for us during this time. This isn't a criticism of Deppy as I'm sure they are working hard behind the scenes to put the show together at this point, but I don't think they will pre-plan much content, and I do think they are easing us in right now by a lack of liveshows and main channel videos being very hit and miss in schedule. The tour will be interesting to talk about for about a month but after that I can't see that it'll be that interesting to talk about another meet and greet where their faces are being squished.

fancybum wrote: Thu Feb 22, 2018 6:48 pm Choose your own adventure! Omg. Okay, based on the limited information available, that kind of makes the most sense. It would be a “different” show each night in that the different audiences will choose different paths and outcomes, but will all still have the same array of choices so it isn’t entirely improv every show. So D&P mostly know what they’re in for and the audience chooses what they do (like the fanfic segment of tatinof but for the whole show). And people who have been thinking there could be an app involved, maybe that’s all it would be? Just a multiple choice thing to get Dan and Phil to do x or talk about y (or whatever the game show/Hunger Games elements may be ..like murder). Still confused but intrigued.. and still contemplating a bank robbery so I can go, don’t tell anyone.
If they do this, then I hope they do it fairly and not like in Berlin where the chants for cake we super loud and got more of a reaction than drawing the french girl (even with Dan acknowledging this by saying "i know you want the cake") but they followed the path they wanted to do instead. Also, if they do anything fairly phan-esque then it will be picked time after time and the story inevitably becomes kinda boring. I hope they do something interesting if they are having audience interaction like that.

that's it. they've finally done it. they've reached peak married level edit : okay i stand corrected. now they've done it
This is actually my favourite Dan and Phil tweet of 2018. Dan is so lucky to get to see Phil in glasses everyday, I'm jealous!
This picture in particular made me laugh so much because he is doing a shock face. I would love to know what the neighbours are arguing about, his face looks so interested. Also, I felt like reviving the Dan and Phil emoji thread just for this face
Image

Also, I'm not sure why Phil needed the glass to listen, they have a masssssive front door with a letter box, he could have slyly opened it for sound whilst looking through the spy hole they have, pfft, he obviously doesn't listen to his neighbours that often

Dan and Phil pastel plushies - nah mate, not for me. the plushies are really hard (someone bought me them for christmas  ) and I just can't see how people think they are cute. Maybe it's becuase I've grown up buying every possible Stitch plushie from the disney store that I expect more fluffy cuteness then something with a massive head and small hard af body.

Latest Sims videos - I'll admit, I was kinda done with the Sims series after the last video and I reluctantly watched this one but I am glad I did because I loved it (and have since watched it twice more). I loved it when they were sitting there talking about their teenage years and how their friends over exaggerated everything because SO TRUE. I also strangely chuckled when Dan used the word "plough" when talking about having sex because I am an immature child.
Also the other bit that stood out to me (and tbh made me  a little) was when Dan was talking about the weighted blanket and said that you need one which is 10% of your body weight, so his would need to be 400kg, like dude, shut up already.

I agree, Deppy stage things all the time anyways so I don't see why it's a big deal in the Sims video

Astronomy date yesterday? This was taken at the Greenwich Royal Observatory, which is a museum now, but has a planetarium :sparkle:

The smiles do not reach their eyes, but I love their fashion. Those little bits of B&W peaking out from stark black coats. :blackheart:

Edit: Dangit always too slow. Instagram tells me it was one day ago, but maybe that’s to do with our time zones. Ironic.

Greenwich is lovely though, I mean it would be somewhere to go back to if you enjoyed it the first time and the weather in London was so nice yesterday. The girl who uploaded didn't specify when it was taken, wonder if anyone will ask.

My point wasn't meant to be some 'he lied! gotcha1' but more me finding it interesting what they decide to reroute conversation about and why. I was more confused when I was misremembering Dan having brought it up, it seemed weird for him to contradict himself. But my point was that when I realized Phil is the one that brought it up Dan having a weird moment trying to respond made more sense. Exactly as you said, to move it along better. (I only threw in the joking about going full in on conspiracy because I suspected if I didn't someone would come along and try to slap my wrist for assuming they sleep together, but I am not gonna disclaim every post I make with If Phan Is Real since that is always my baseline premise for everything - so I was hoping that would diffuse the need to.)

I agree that it's a low stakes thing for them to be weird about, but Dan has a whole video about impulsive lying under pressure and I think discussing something they might use as shared bedding might flip that switch in Dan's head that says Good Time To Fib. It doesn't bother me, I'm not mad about; but Phil being the one to speak first made that make more sense, so I thought I'd pass that along if anyone else missed it.

I've got slightly more faith in them, and that's only thanks to Gamingmas. Knowing they can prefilm in bulk and that they have the ability to do one video a day if they need to gives me hope for them. I do think we'll get less content, but TATINOF was so dire - 3-4 videos a month spread between every channel, which meant we got one gaming video maybe every other week, right? Thanks to gamingmas we know (and now they know) that they could probably set aside one weekend of filming before the tour and bank enough videos to be better off than that.

They've also moved the TBC dates from June to September so they've now got two weeks free between UK/Europe and US, which means they'll get a little break in there and have a chance to film a lot.

Wow, they do not look happy to be photographed. Phil looks like he's got a star print t-shirt on? Or is that another of his I'm just not recognizing? I'm so intrigued at why the lack of real smiles for this fan pic, usually they cover better (unless it's taken close to where they live).

I appreciate the discussion on it because it was a moment in the video that stood out just because it was slightly confusing to me. I’m also surprised that Phil doesn’t see the appeal in a weighted blanket because as someone with anxiety and stress dreams I’d think it would appeal to him. Idk lol.

The weighted blanket moment is just another in a long line of dnp stretching the truth for no real reason lol. It reminds me of a liveshow where Dan talked about buying the kangaroo costume for phil’s Video and then in the video acting “surprised” about the costume- easy lie to call him out on if you watch liveshows but if you are a casual viewer you’d never know any better.

Wow, they do not look happy to be photographed. Phil looks like he's got a star print t-shirt on? Or is that another of his I'm just not recognizing? I'm so intrigued at why the lack of real smiles for this fan pic, usually they cover better (unless it's taken close to where they live).
He's wearing the same jumper he's wearing in his twitter pfp. (the same outfit he wore on his birthday) But we never saw what Dan wore that day.

It reminds me of a liveshow where Dan talked about buying the kangaroo costume for phil’s Video and then in the video acting “surprised” about the costume- easy lie to call him out on if you watch liveshows but if you are a casual viewer you’d never know any better.
Calling things like that actual “lies” (not in a jokey way) is a bit needlessly accusatory imo. There may be “no real reason” in the sense of “people already know, so why ~lie”, but... there is actually a reason. They treat their channels/liveshows differently because they know there’s a difference in audience size (and therefore the degree to which any amount of people might “care” about little details like where a onesie specifically came from and when). Staging the reveal of the onesie for the benefit of a video for millions when maybe 10k in a liveshow already know about it is just performing for a specific audience in the most time/entertainment-efficient way possible. The point of that video wasn’t who got the onesie, it was just that somebody was going to wear it for lols, so why get into the boring details that the majority don’t care about? The people like us watching their every word and move like hawks are only an annoying subset of their whole audience.

Anyway dizzy sorry if I made your post into a bigger Thing, the issue was just that I Can’t Read Good and shouldn’t have posted before getting some sleep, ignore me
Thanks and have a great day! Oil me

Hmm. His twitter profile pic was posted January 11, though. which means he wore that shirt then and also on his birhday. It could be that she delayed it posting it, but I also wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't just really like that shirt/jacket combo lately. Both of them are guilty of having favorite outfits they wear a ton for a period of time. I hope she comes back and clears the mystery up, if anyone asked on instagram when it was.
