Dan's thighs look thicker because he's wearing jeans like one size to small or something. Look at the way his jeans rest on his hips (or don't), it's a sign they don't fit properly. Getting jeans that properly fit can be a real pain in the arse for someone with long legs and no arse. He should go a size up imo.
As evident from many other pictures, including the one posted upthread, his jeans fit perfectly normal for skinny jeans on a person with thicker thighs, slimmer calves and slim waist. I say that as a person with exactly the same, except more pronounced in every department, physique. This is the suffering we have to endure in exchange for usually great butts.
And hey, if we discussed noses for 2 threads we get to have an at length discussion about Dan's thighs too
Another thick thighed person here. If he went up a size, he'd have annoying creasing and sagging when he stood up straight and his ass area would look sloppy. I always buy tight, knowing that they'll relax a bit with wear. I also make sure that my skinny jeans have a tiny bit of elasticity, but not too much. I need some structure to hold these thighs in!
I am 100% here for thick thigh discussion! Hell, let's talk about Phil's thighs, too. I don't thigh shame. They both have amazing legs.

I will defend Dan's thighs to the death
I have big thighs but a bigger stomach so my issue is that I could go down a size on the legs but then I could never close the button or zip, so when I go up a size to fit my tummy, my legs are swimming in loose fabric
Also I didn't quote it but Dan's comment about playing beautifully to Mia and Seb's theme, I thought it was sarcasm because he was playing Fur Elise and not that? What I mean is I took the comment to refer to the end segment when he's like "sub pls" and not part of the sketch when he actually did play seb and mia's theme

same!! i mean if i can recognise that his thighs look great, why shouldn't i think the same about mine??
and yikes that comment, he does seem very adamant that he isn't as great at piano as his over-enthusiastic audience thinks he is. i get where he's coming from, judging by some of the comments you'd think he was an absolute genius at piano. that must get a bit embarrassing, having people gush over him when he knows that he's not amazing, at least by his own standards. however, i do think he should give himself a bit of credit, he really is quite good. being able to play by ear is no small feat, just because he doesn't read music doesn't mean he's terrible at piano. he does seem to have a natural affinity for music, and i definitely don't think he's bad at playing by any means. for those in his audience who maybe don't play an instrument (or me, who played for four years but gave up partly because of my weird teacher but lbr mostly because i found it really hard) his piano playing is really not that bad.
I don't think Dan was saying that he is awful at piano, I think he was commenting on the fact that he played Für Elise at the end of the video, not the La La Land theme.
Edit: whoops, melon lord beat me to it.

Based on the fact he said "really, beautifully, really?" I think he was pointing out the fact he wasn't playing super well, regardless of what song he was playing/what song the commenter thought he was playing.

Jeans in general are actually terrible pieces of clothing from hell that rarely properly fit, but here's the thing with the extreme skinny jeans Dan wears.. When you have thick thighs or calfs (my ass was blessed with both) your skinny will look bomb when you're standing up straight and doing nothing, but due to the tightness on the legs the jeans keep getting pulled down because there's no room for the legs to move in. On top of that Dan's jeans are pretty low rise and not much is needed for those to sink down, so when he walks, sits down, bends over or does any other type of movement it all quickly moves down south. Stretch in the fabric often only makes the problem worse, not less like people think.
Far better is a non stretch denim fabric that is properly fitted to your body. Which can mean going a size up, but if the thought of having any room in your jeans makes you throw up, you can alter the jeans by the waist or wear a belt.. last option doesn't always though, Dan is a shining example of that. He could also try different models (more of a high rise for example) or different brands, as no brand is really the same in fit and some brands will ultimately suit him better than others. Dan has stuck by the same model of jeans for years but I don't think they fit on his cute 2017 soft squish body as nicely as they did when he first bought a pair.
Personal preference over anything though, if he (and anyone else) genuinely likes wearing his jeans like that then all the power to him. I personally hate jeans and no longer wear them, I'm sure people think I'm just as crazy as I think Dan is for that.

Good traditional Dinof sketch, I'm quite happy. Playing piano at the end was a nice touch.
So far we have psychotic french teacher, terrible, just terrible maths teacher, witch of a piano teacher... UK, are you okay there with your education system? Why were there so many weirdos in the field? Or was it just Dan's luck to encounter them all?

I totally agree with this last part, if he likes wearing his super tight jeans than good for him!
This topic is kind of done but regarding young Dan's financial situation I have something to add. Him having young parents definitely comes into play. I have young parents and the way I was brought up class wise is very different than my younger siblings.

No idea about any other education system, but I have met quite a few eccentric teachers (we have quite a lot) and also there are a lot of old, strict teachers. But we also have young, funny teachers as well, so don't go thinking that British teachers are awful lol.

i remember a while back, someone (i think it was oqua?) found out dan's parents were actually 26 and 31 when he was born, and i don't remember if there was a reliable source or anything for that, but if it's true...i don't think that's young? seems quite average to me, maybe a tad on the younger side? but then again, dan was born in the early '90s so maybe 26 and 31 was considered normal then

Wasn't that around the time people started making accounts with his name and stuff? Maybe he just wanted to make sure he could have an account with his real name should he ever want it before a fan grabbed it? I'm sure if he hadn't done this that handle would be a fan account by now.

Maybe not necessarily when he "drops" his YouTube channel but I do think he's not planning on being "danisnotonfire" forever. For other example, Dan's LTD is "Dan Howell LTD" (whereas Phil's is "AmazingPhil LTD"). And yeah, I'm sure he would rather have it himself than a random fan.

the phrase "be my hot granny pls" had been irreversibly etched into their brain. even though they wished to forget, the words would come back even years later to haunt them. (excerpt from my autobiography, published in 2053)

Watching the live show, I'm sad that Dan talked about "going up North" with Martyn and Cordelia to "see friends" for Phil's birthday. He doesn't mentions Isle of Man or the Lesters. So, not quite as out about family time as we like to suppose.
This LS is feeling a bit anti-phan (but that's probably just me ). Oh, and now he talks about getting presents for "family" that are really for you in reference to getting Phil "crystal coasters", restoring balance to the universe.

i think the reason his jeans rest like that is bc he wears them around his ass (lol) so it'll dig in a bit more when he sits down, they'll prob look normal if he wore them around his hips
they're still so tight tho omg but i just think thats what he's going for

Watching this videos makes it obvious how he hates confrontation and does not automatically go towards others for help or advice, though I'm not sure this has anything to do with his family, just Dan's particular personality and behaviour that makes him inclined to internalize any problems he has.
Also, I didn't find that the experience was a "traumatic" one, son, I've been through piano exams, they're traumatic. Though I sympathize with the horrible piano teachers, I've had ones with strict and tough personalities and they can be difficult, however not impossible. Again, I feel that because Dan did not discuss his difficulties with anybody, the problem became worse and resonated on his confidence.
Additionally, I'm a bit disappointed he did not persevere in music, albeit the terrible teacher. He would have never made it musically if he easily stopped there, though I admire his ambition and hard work in earning money to pursue his interests initially, I predict that he would have lost interest anyway.
I really enjoyed the acting and sketch set up, his acting was on point for his evil piano teacher and young self (smiley, cute and dimpled Dan will be in gif sets soon, count on that). Also the editing and spacial sense in the set he made in the flat was amazing, the quality feels less amateurish and more professional level that I think Dan has been aspiring to have, so props to him for creating that.
+1 on the first part!! im p sure hes being very dramatic abt his childhood, didnt he say he had a middle class comfortable childhood or something like that?

That was a nice live show.
- Dan went jogging and he is looking fine.
- Another mention about how anxious Phil can get. Interesting.
- Is cute though how they help each other film things.
- I want to know about the other gift that Dan got Phil that is slightly inappropriate.
- Dan is not on board with people armchair diagnosing Phil (or anyone really) with autism (or anything else).
- Wow seems like they have an actual plan for the gaming channel.
- Guess Dan found the right person to talk about his feeling to.
- Dan talking about his dentist/pain kink. This topic could turn into a video.
- Confirmed, again, that Dan watches depressing things when Phil is away.
