I figure Dan’s tweet is just because they’re heading to russia and know they’ll be off the grid so may as well take a break.
what u mean?? i seen other people say this as well. is it cause of laws?
btw i am fine with him taking a break, he needs it probably. i dropped a majority of my social media usage this year, definitely less stressful.
hope phil takes cute bf pics of him tho (if dan's willing to let that happen)

Dan: for absolutely no reason at all
Phandom: here is an itemized list of exactly 84 plausible reasons
@watsonian This might be awkward because I could be wrong, but is that a Hamilton reference?

It may well be that, but also I think U.K. mobile phone networks don’t roam there and there could be WiFi issues also etc.

The show tonight was amazing however meeting up with the lovely people from here was even better
We had seats on the balcony and
Also if Dan wants some time off, enjoy it dude! He said there was no reason so I’m gonna go with what he said and there is no reason other than he wants some time to himself. I hope he has a good time. They must be knackered after their long day today!

If it is it's unfortunately not an intentional one, as I've never gotten to see Hamilton! In case you feel awkward here's a cute tweet of someone's turtle enjoying Dan and Phil.

Ugh I know it doesn’t help to worry but the wanting distance from social media + that tweet about caring about people more than they care about him is reminding me a lot of myself when i’m going into a depressive episode. I really hope it is just him simply wanting to take a break.

he said "think" in the tweet, and it was probably just a weird thought that was going through his head. perhaps about celebrities that aren't aware of him or thinking too much of what other's think about him. or it could have been a sad tweet, we don't know.
i think people are looking too deep into it, which i'm guilty of doing as well with what dnp do sometimes, but it's going to be okay.
maybe it is a wave of a depressive episode, it's at least okay to know that he's taking care of himself.
edit: i realized i might have sounded like an asshole when i corrected what his tweet said, i didn't mean to. i was just trying to reassure you that it wasn't about him not feeling cared for.

For a bit of levity, did this tweet that Phil liked get shared yet? Because I'm cackling. Of course Phil liked it.

Ok this is gonna sound weird but since seeing the show yesterday I have all the weirdest kind of emotions and I can't even pin point what they are. I'm just feeling strongly about something intangible.
Something that feels weirdly final and like closure? Maybe it's the lack of videos that is causing this, and Dan's social media break on top. Is he feeling bad? Am I contributing to this by going to the show? Is it ok that I didn't like parts of the shows, especially
Maybe I'm just pms'ing but someone please tell my emotions to shut up.

Phil. Phil. I know it looks phallic. But please don't stick the candy up your butt. That's not where candy goes.
we can count the number of times on one hand phil has insinuated something up his butt, even if not a person, wouldn't be the worst thing to happen. and two of them have been this year. 2018 is wild!

if it helps, i had the same thing after seeing tabinof. i felt really weird about them for days. i think something about the live experience causes introspection and a sense of occasion. most likely reality is dan is a tired introvert who tends toward low moods and needs recharging, who instead of being able to hide for a few days in his house is about to travel somewhere he's never been before that has a complicated political relationship with his identity. it feels significantly positive to me, rather than foreboding, that's he's trying something new and communicating his intentions.

I wouldn't worry too much about Dan taking a sm break. Maybe he's taking that time to work on the vid he wanted to do for June. And if he is feeling low, I'd rather he stay away from sm then have another meltdown like last March. He has a good support system and he'll be back when he's ready.

I think your assessment is spot on!

(and beautifully articulate

)
Performing and traveling when you are truly an introvert is exhausting in itself! That alone would make me want to crawl in a cave for a week! And I think his desire to detox could be as simple as that.
But we also know how in touch he is with his inner world, geoglobal politics, and his own views of the larger cosmos. He's been open about his desire to live his truth, so the complexities of heading to Russia may very well be an additional drain on his energy.
I appreciate that he being upfront, and agree that saying "no particular reason" is both a healthy sign, and probably an attempt to try to minimize some of the "angst" his little break may cause some in the phandom. It shows an awareness of his fans, and is a caring gesture.
Here's to Dan's sanity retreat

Very good addition to a post post from someone who is actually Russian on the topic of Dan and Phil in Russia:
(I'm told that this isn't showing up for some people, so here's a
direct link to the post!)

doesn't show for me either, but as someone who's also Russian (not that it means we all must have the same opinion) and has seen the show yesterday, I completely agree with everything that person has written. I would, of course, love some kind of gesture of support, like Dan wearing his equality-written-in-Russian shirt or something, but even if they don't do anything, I'm still appreciative of the fact that they decided to go and hope they'll love Moscow, it's a beautiful city with all kinds of entertainment on offer, especially if you have money. I'll be more afraid for them being in the US, if I'm completely honest. Is that the anti-guns propaganda? I don't know, but it's working on me

jk

About Russia, I think they are perfectly aware of what to expect and looked at every possibly controversial country before committing on going there. Maybe they'll tone down some jokes a little bit, that I can understand, after all they did it when Phil's family was in the audience and it wasn't a big deal.
Anyway, I just saw a post on tumblr (that I can't link because mobile hates me) but apparently for a few hours after Phil uploaded his video, the first recommended video was a re-upload of video-that-shall-not-be-named. It was taken down after a few hours and that upload is not up anymore but i find it awfully, tragically funny. I know, I know, I'm a bad person. It's just...sorry Phil.

I'm curious how you'd describe the humor Dan uses on twitter. Do you notice it being different from humor he uses in livestreams or on YouTube? By those jokes, do you mean jokes about being bad people? And like, why is that a thing or a theme in the phandom?
A lot of the time when Dan addresses the audience on YouTube and twitter I find myself thinking he's projecting, because whatever he says about us doesn't apply to
me and I'm just that self-involved. But I also feel like I'm missing a big part of phandom culture and it's likely that a lot of things are references or in-jokes I don't get. I want to understand those interactions better.
I'm a bit sad if they won't be vlogging from Russia. I'm enjoying traveling vicariously through them while comfortably tucked in at home with my cat.

I'm more inclined to say they're actually just traveling. Though if we go a full 24 hours and nada from Phil I'll rethink that.

Honestly, on days when I’m breaking down, it would be nice to have such an influx of content like we got yesterday and the day prior. But I have a feeling these few days are actually a much needed break for both of them instead of just Dan, they looked kinda exhausted most of the time tbh. If I were either of them rn I’d definitely not even want to touch any social media. I hope this detox helps them both
What are some content that makes you guys smile every time you see it? I’ve just been watching the Blindfolded Cat Drawing and the Bean-Boozled thing from the same session over and over and I need smth else

Why I Was A Weird Kid.
As a child I wanted to be a lion. I also ate grass. And I also used to sit in wheelie bins because they were quiet so yeah... they're #relatable to me
also, i'm not saying it'll happen because it won't but if Dan drops a video mid 'social media break' i'll die
