Oh definitely! I also read it in this way, it seems more about the funny aspect of it all. It's just that when it becomes a running gag could get a bit weird? Maybe there's some context behind the sudden surge in mentions.

The more i research 'ANIME WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE' , them more i think he was just taking the fanservice to volume level 11.
Anyone else catching that desperate 'halp, i'm being so gay for pay" look in his eyes at 5:28 ? the life-sized cardboard cutout of that pose is expected for delivery at my house tomorrow morning
So idk anymore, I feel like what mamaphan said (and others whose name I ought to remember but don't) is spot on in that they should just be whatever they are and to try to label them as straight, gay or whatever might do no justice to the complex things that is human sexuality.
At the same time, because of where i personally am, i can't help but speculate about it, try to define it, and smile like happy retard whenever they make homoerotic or phantastic comments.

Yes to everything in your post. RE sexuality labels, thank you, and mamaphan for being able to articulate what I was struggling to. I totally agree - sexuality is a complex enough thing as it is and with the # 'the thought of going down on Phil is like you going down on your grandma' phase the sudden tide of male-attraction references - particularly in the anime vid - is just pretty damn confusing. (Side note: did anyone happen to make a list of the amount of references to cute boys and/or abs in this video and his anime recommendations video )

As for fan service, I don't think the theme of the video itself is that, however I definitely got weird vibes once all the Free! talk came about and all the "omg it's cute boys in speedos!!!1!" comments. Not in a bad way, it just felt more fanservice-y than natural. (Then again Phil made the same sort of comments in his #spon video so who knows )

The thing that made me laugh most about this is just the fact that Dan WATCHED a pigeon pooping for six seconds. Like he couldn't walk around it or anything: a 6ft something man just stood staring at a pigeon as it pooped, like he had to wait for it to finish before he could carry on with his business

But to be fair pigeons have freaking creepy eyes.

Oh sorry, that's not how I meant that, excuse my crappy choice of words Of course I know that was a 2012-thing and these days it's really not a surprise to hear Dan make a reference to male-attraction; there just seemed to be a lot condensed across his DINOF and DINI videos when usually they're just one-offs in separate situations (IE 'enter me troye', and if you don't count Phan-related ones of course). And granted in this case most of them were about Free!/Haru so it's not really a big deal, just an observation.

Oh ok, yeah I get that; it's pretty bold for his main channel (especially for people who don't watch his liveshows and haven't seen him mention Free/abs before ).

This is random, but I really don't want him to be too self-deprecating about the video tomorrow in his liveshow. He tends to do that and I think especially since it's #spon he'll want to be apologetic or something, but I hope he fights the urge heh. I don't give any shits about anime and I enjoyed both videos because his passion for it came through and made it enjoyable. I want to see him be proud and confident instead
