I would pay good money to see Phil's reaction when he saw that.
I was pretty floored when he used that (explicitly sexual) meme in the pinof bloopers with a montage of Phil's ass... but I had the same reaction you are now, people seemed to dismiss it just because it was also a meme. But literally he made Phil a cake with a portmanteau of (under the cut just because I hate using that word even though it's unavoidable in this situation)000dia000 wrote: Tue Jan 30, 2018 6:51 pm You know, I may sound naive...or perhaps I'm missing some inside joke...but what does that even mean?? Do I want to know? Is Dan implying something and we're all just lol when years ago people would freak out?
probs him just laughing and turning bright red, playfully hitting dan multiple times on the shoulder, then burying his face into him.kavat wrote: Tue Jan 30, 2018 7:02 pm I would pay good money to see Phil's reaction when he saw that.![]()
My guess would be that when you live in a place you just live there, so you don’t really experience the stuff your city has for offer except for special occasions. Now I’m not living in a place nearly the size of London but the example still works, cos I haven’t been to any of the touristy stuff available where I live since I was a kid and going to things was a fun activity to do, now I just live here, not really seeing it for what it is.dontpanic wrote: Tue Jan 30, 2018 8:14 pm Why were they doing tourist-y stuff tho? Do Phil's padres not come to london often?
They did the same thing last time Phil's parents were in town, right? When Dan posted that museum selfie?smartcookie wrote: Tue Jan 30, 2018 8:41 pmMy guess would be that when you live in a place you just live there, so you don’t really experience the stuff your city has for offer except for special occasions. Could of course also be for the sake of the padres, London is a fair way from where Phil parents live so maybe they just doesn’t come all that often and they have done all this touristy stuff for their sake. Who knows? I don’t. Mainly just guessing and projecting. They could for all we know spend all their leisure time on the London eye or visiting Big Ben, just not documenting it..
I'm pretty sure it's a mirror to get a better view of the paintings...One of my friends was in London last week, and toured the Royal Naval College (at least that's what it says on her instagram pics), and it's pretty much identical. Her safety vest/hard hat were red, but I'm pretty sure that's what the Lesters were up to today!flarequake wrote: Tue Jan 30, 2018 8:31 pm Oh, Daniel, naughty boy. Phil’s photos are adorable. I’m curious why you need that white paddle he’s holding when you’re viewing ceiling art up on a scaffolding. Maybe it’s to wave in case of falling off, seeing as there’s also the blue safety/visibility gear.
Thanks for this, I've been looking for the info on this and now I've found it: https://www.ornc.org/painted-hall-ceiling-tours-ticketsonceinaugust wrote: Tue Jan 30, 2018 8:45 pm I'm pretty sure it's a mirror to get a better view of the paintings...One of my friends was in London last week, and toured the Royal Naval College (at least that's what it says on her instagram pics), and it's pretty much identical. Yup, his photo is definitely from Naval College.onceinaugust wrote: Tue Jan 30, 2018 8:45 pm I'm pretty sure it's a mirror to get a better view of the paintings...One of my friends was in London last week, and toured the Royal Naval College (at least that's what it says on her instagram pics), and it's pretty much identical. If you're on twitter you read the tweet like: "It's just a meme. It's an inside joke between dan and phil. Stop sexualizing everything."Ablissa wrote: Tue Jan 30, 2018 9:15 pm I don't really get that meme. Or any meme (I'm a bit out of the loop/not the biggest fan of memes in general, usually). Does it REALLY mean what I think it means? Can it be read any other way??
Either way, wow. So much has changed over the past few years. Imagining Phil's parents reacting to that cake and Phil struggling to explain it as Dan laughs at him made my day better. Write that fic, anyone?![]()
Happy Birthday, Phil. You're an amazing guy in every sense of the word and I owe you a large portion of my day-to-day sanity.
Ehh I feel like both of those are pretty subjective to who you specifically follow; on twitter I've seen plenty of people talking about how he means sex, and on tumblr I've seen (and gotten anons) from people trying to say that it's just a meme and "don't read into it" - so yeah no matter the social media if you tend to follow a lot more skeptical people you're probably seeing it being dismissed, if you follow a lot of people who are more into the relationship and just wanting to enjoy shit you're probably seeing people talk about it meaning sex.hello9217 wrote: Tue Jan 30, 2018 9:25 pmIf you're on twitter you read the tweet like: "It's just a meme. I just thought it was really funny and Phil's response was the icing on the cake![]()
Also someone did already write a fic about it: http://danfanciesphil.tumblr.com/post/1 ... neshot-for
Agree with this!! Don't think it's necessarily one or the other, it can certainly be dismissed as just a stupid meme but it 's definitely bold, and explicitly sexual (and the use of "me" instead of "us" or something, which also would fit in the meme, arguably makes it more personal. And now I sound like I'm writing an essay analysing that dumb cake szhfsdkjfn, I'll stop).alittledizzy wrote: Tue Jan 30, 2018 9:28 pm (And my opinion: it's a meme, it's funny. but it's definitely a meme referencing sex. best of both worlds.)
