Catallena wrote:Bad planning? Unless US venues are that much of a mess, I'm thinking they booked too late. If you book on time, you'd have a confirmation by the time tickets go on sale right? Then they kept adding surprise dates, causing people to get frustrated because they had already bought tickets for shows somwhere else while they could've gotten tickets for their own city (or at least a somewhere more near). It was such a mess.
100% bad planning coupled with the misguided wish of having them all go on sale at the same time. Ticketmaster & ticket agents suck & fuck up sometimes, but this was 100% bad planning. They are covering 4 time zones in the US... having all tickets go on sale at the same time is ridiculous & highly inconvenient. The general rule in the US is to have tickets go on sale between 9am-12pm local time on a Friday (9/10 at 10 am), with presales before that. Wanting to make "an event" out of ticket sales is just not a thing & will cause far more problems than anything else.
Catallena wrote:About the new LA matinee show, I'm thinking we'll see these tickets getting discounted just like with the last minute added Palladium show. Maybe they're hoping Vidcon visitors will buy a last minute ticket? Perhaps they can work together with Vidcon to sell tickets, because I doubt they'll get a full house at this rate.
The problem with the vidcon theory (if that is what they were thinking) is that Anaheim is at bare minimum 45 minutes away from the Dolby in Hollywood & that is on the absolute best of days. In shitty Southern California traffic, that drive can easily turn into two hours, especially on a Thursday, which I swear to god are getting just as bad as Fridays . You would probably be looking at a $50 uber ride in no traffic. + to that the fact that vidcon is starting that day, so most people are going to want to be at vidcon to get the most of their passes. My only theory is that they're hoping that kids will go to a matinee if their parents wouldn't let them go the evening or if they didn't get tickets to the first? Most schools are out by then, but I dunno if parents are gonna be compelled to take a day off work to take their kid to TATINOF. Though from the parents I encountered at the Costa Mesa on sale... holy shit, phandom kids will threaten their parents to see Dan & Phil. The other motivating factor is having two takes at filming.
pearshaped34 wrote:They haven't added or just released those seats the Vegas show just didn't sell well and there was a lot left.
Vegas is a notoriously tough sell for any touring act. My friend who lives there constantly complains about the omission of Vegas from tours, but he also completely understands that Vegas crowds suck & residents just aren't into supporting anything since they have to deal with tourist assholes & shitty shows littering their town constantly. + to that that their show is off strip, meaning they won't even be able to market that shit to tourists because no one's gonna head north of the shitty outlet mall to go see two dudes from the internet unless they're going to Vegas already to see two dudes from the internet.
tl;dr: are not good at planning a tour in the US.
In less *womp womp* news, I enjoyed agar.io & I am looking forward to Dan's quarter life crisis.

It's good to see that they recognise that now is not the time to be drawing attention to their own celebrations. Respect for that, it would be easy for them to make a fuss about Dan today but they chose not to.
I don't agree with this.
Every single days terrible things are happening all around the world, so letting something bad come in the way of celebrating the good things in life is just not wise in my opinion.
It's terrible what happened today, but I hope that it doesn't mean that they feel like they can't celebrate what should be a great day with us.
I for one would love to get a tweet or pic from them.

Squish I understand where you are coming from but I'm torn, at the end even if they probably didn't knew the girl she is still a youtuber, on the other hand it's true horrible things happen every day, I unfortunatly live in a country where often there are reports of lots of refugees dieing in the sea trying to come to europe. It's better at the end to not make for now a big fuss on the internet and later at the evening tweet something related to it and maybe make a smaller celebration.
I agree that I would love for them to tweet something, post something but it's a tricky situation.

I agree, they don't have to show how happy they are if they want to be respectful towards Christina but I wish they would at least acknowledge Dan's birthday.

I think they're just laying low for a bit, the West Coast YouTube community basically just woke up and heard about Christina so everyone is really just in shock now. Give them a few hours, when YouTube related Twitter won't be message after message about her murder.

Re: Christina Grimmie
I'm just imagining how much this has to be fucking with D&P's heads right now. Sure, the likelihood of it happening is low, and even if it ever did during these last few weeks of the tour (ugh, sorry for even putting it out there like that), their security is probably much tighter than Christina's apparently was. Still, to be in America, as a YTer, having M&G after M&G, fairly vulnerable to any fan that gets close enough to hug them... I wouldn't blame them for feeling a bit on edge. Like duh, they were probably aware that the risk existed before embarking on this tour, but hearing news like that while you're literallyontour must feel like a slap in the face. For that, I feel kinda for them (and other YTers and other famous people and anyone who attends events in public spaces and-)

Offtopic: ever since I watched this video, whenever this song's on the radio I can't help but sing it like that
Re: Christina Gimmie. It's extremely unsettling that something like that could happen to a lovely woman like her. I remember when it was known that DP had hired a bodyguard for the American Tour, and we all thought it was because of the fangirls..right now I wouldn't discard the USA gun regulation as one of the reasons their management considered.
Do you reckon this will bring new security measures for them, such as waiting for them after the show now being strictly forbidden or security checks on every assistant? I sincerely hope so.

Honestly, my biggest question from this whole tweet is: Are they in a consignment store? Why??
Nothing against consignment stores, of course. Never know what you'll find~~ But that's what you visit in Vegas?? Unless, of course, this pic is from earlier in the tour.

yes I can imagine that it will. Vidcon announced extra security measures on Twitter and I've seen tweets from Tyler Oakley and Anthony Padilla about feeling safe/unsafe, so yeah, there's a high change this will change things security wise..

It does seems pretty empty.
And mom-posing is such a great name for what he's doing.

I'm beginning to think this was taken while in Texas, because weren't they spotted wearing those outfits during one of their free days there? (Still too damn hot to be wearing that, Dan.)

So.
I missed a whole fucking thread. A WHOLE THREAD. I feel so out of the loop I missed you guys and my regular fix of snark, cynicism, perversion and innuendo.
Completely OT (not to mention completely cheeky) but would anyone fancy setting up a thread summary thread? Threadception, I know. Like basically a bullet point list of the significant topics/jokes etc covered in each thread when one closes, and maybe what vids were released while that thread was open?
Feel free to ignore this cheeky idea - I don't plan to miss a whole thread again (until a client decides to drop a shitbomb on me again, that is) but thought it may be useful to both people who've missed chunks, aren't super regular users (we do move fast) or equally anyone wanting to go back and find old shit.
Back on topic - Dan you sweaty bitch, take your top off
