I'm assuming YT gave them set answers or at least policed what they could say in some way? When you do stuff like this whoever is 'hiring' you will usually direct you in some way, so I assume that's what happened.

I agree with most on this video, it wasn't great, and you could tell that deppy didn't make it (I assume yt didn't send them it on time, hence the push back). I wasn't expecting much from this week though, so I'll take it with minimal complaints

I think the full explanation is just extraneous information when they're targeting videos like that at a very wide general audience. They're passing on the information that is relevant and streamlining the big picture concept of how the process went.

Dan did say in his live show that the gifts would be things that didn't get included in the main vids, so I still have some hope that the other three days we'll get something like that.

I agree with this. I'd say that they see the LA filming as being the only proper one because it was better quality and therefore more useable.

The video was exactly what I was expecting. I'd say it actually is useful for casual fans who don't know much about TATINOF.

As much as I'd like them to talk about how to watch it in more detail I understand why they can't. I doubt YouTube would be too pleased with them warning people they will need their (parents) credit cards, and telling them to make sure they unsubscribe from YTR to avoid the ongoing fees, and I really doubt they will be allowed to tell people that after this they can no longer watch the shows. Tbh I just find it intersting that YouTube have chosen someone with a younger audience to help launch YTR in the Uk. Most people under the age of 18 don't have credit cards, and those people who are over the age of 18 might have them but not want to be subscribed with ongoing fees.

oh man, that was painful to watch. they are really not good at acting excited about their own paid content lol. it kinda looks like they're over the whole tatinof thing, but i guess they could be just tired.

anyway, i'll certainly be watching the documentary first and then maybe the show itself if i'm in the mood. i know it makes more sense to watch the show first but i've read the spoilery reviews and i really don't think it's something i would enjoy - it sounds like a scripted hell full of cliches, memes and shipbaiting 101 thrown into one show. if they at least had impromtu parts in there, but nah ... otherwise i think i'd enjoy the bts bits more, however scripted and edited they might be it's still not the same as a 100% rehearsed performance.

I'm definitely watching the show first to retrieve all the memories, and then the doc. That way, I can see how the magic works after I enjoy the show, or else it will be ruined.

As someone who went to TATINOF, the cringy parts is what you mentioned above. I'm going to warn everyone, it is very, very AP and DINOF, not Dan Howell and Phil Lester. [trigger]Also some lions and llamas.[/trigger] But, in my opinion, you should watch it because there are some improv parts and the way they pull it together makes the show absolutely amazing.

I don't have much to say but they look kind of weird in the video, it's probably the camera. I hope the doc won't have that weird quality if I bother to watch it .

I'm actually stoked to be able to examine Dan's pores watch the TATINOF performance program in 4K - that would be worth the $10 sub (which I will promptly cancel after 30 days because there's really nothing about YTR to justify $10/month atm.)

As for views of the trailers, consider the views for Joe & Casper Hit the Road USA movie trailer:

Views seem roughly the same, so perhaps it's more about the videos being #spon / #promo vs. being original content? And consider that although Joe has more subs than Dan, Dan's TATINOF trailer has more views than Joe's HTRUSA trailer; and while Caspar has more subs than Phil, Phil's TATINOF trailer has more views than Caspar's HTRUSA trailer.

This build up is slow, I enjoyed the cheese of the videos, I'm a sucker for that good domestic quality shit A+ .

Am I the only one who's a little concerned Dan hasn't left the house? I find the whole "never going outside" brand weird as it is, encouraging antisocial behavior (though when have deppy every encouraged social behavior lmao, I know it's not taken 100 percent seriously but you know what I mean). I'm concerned that he must be very anxious about this and I wonder why? There will either be a "change" (gasp! who would've thought?) or is it just normal anxiety at putting something he spent a long time creating out into the public to be widely consumed and spat back out again at him? Little mistakes, things he wants to change, dealing with unhappy and resentful people...surely, reasons to have a build up of anxiety but not leaving the house and him being casual and proud about it? Anybody else want to go into meaningless discussion about it? Nm then.

Wednesday is a bad day for me, I can only maybe watch one of the videos then have to go to sleep and get up at six the next morning I don't know which one I want to watch first and I can't possibly wait a whole day before watching the next...should I "accidentally break my leg"? lol

I think it's less that they're not excited and more that they are people who are at their most natural, most comfortable best selves when it's just them alone with a camera talking to an audience. That's what we are used to seeing, so when they're removed from that setting and put somewhere that makes them nervous that translates. Neither of them have ever given any indication that they're fans of the sit-down interview format (save that one HuffPo one, which Dan even tweeted about, further proving my point that he must not enjoy most interviews since he was shocked that one went so well). For this one they both seemed not at their best and also like they had bullet points of information to work into the video. Add to that this video today almost certainly not having been edited by them (therefore lacking the familiarity we're used to in their editing styles) and it comes off as something uncomfortable.

I (want to) think that the bour trailer last year probably taught them a lesson in how their audience responds best to casual conversational announcements not overly glossy promotional material, but even if Dan and Phil won some small battles I'm pretty sure YT is still going to want to promote things their way. This video today just seems like something YT did.

I think the interview today looked weird and stilted because it was filmed from the in a weird white void from as slightly right facing angle( or as dan calls it, his bad side), and was edited to heck with generic commercial TYR editing instead of DnP's usual style. I feel like there was a lot more to the interview, but YT cut it into several little minute long bites so it would be more digestible.

Tatinof spoiler I wonder if they will do any interviews for talkshows/radio or anything. Some of the other ytbers did them, but that could be because they were invited and accepted the invitation, not because they were forced.

So that was my evening. No regrets tbh, the video was just what we already know. I get that it's for the casual fanbase, but I wonder how many of those people will actually be interested enough in TATINOF to buy it? I feel like people nowadays really only spend money on the people they hardcore stan (and even then it's only a small percentage of people) so I personally wouldn't consider buying it.

I laughed at 'TATINOF has everything that people love from our videos' though because plenty of elements from TATINOF (7SC, ISG, llamas, lions etc.) are things I... do not love. You tried babes you really did. Still only buying your doc and only if I have the money.

btw is it just me or are the parts with them sitting and talking looking a bit odd, like the footage was stretched out a bit? Also Phil's jacket was not made for that kind of lighting... Actually neither were the boys themselves they don't look as good as usual ._. YTR did my boys dirty.

Anyway, a very underwhelming beginning if the 'shitstorm' that was. Boo.

No one has mentioned this yet so it's my time to shine and pull forgotten irrelevant shit concerning D&P from my memory. Dan and Phil went to Wireless Festival together in 2014 to see Kanye perform, they got spotted there by a few people (and they didn't get mobbed ayyy 1D fans take note). We know Phil doesn't care for Kanye so I'm assuming he went because Dan asked him and it was nearby.

I am ASSUMING they are compartmentalising their answers to the videos separately; i.e. for the tour show video, as they only use the LA show hence why they say "once". The London show footage is classify now for the documentary hence they do not see it as an alternative shots for the tour show video.
