given that they're, basically, loaded, im sure they can afford to buy two decent beds/mattresses even if only one is used often. but dans has been very obviously slept in at times, with the way it's messed up and stuff

I'm catching up with all the DP discussions in a certain website and at some point it was discussed (and even generally agreed upon) that Phil's bedroom in London looks staged, like he doesn't really stay there, as opposed to his Manchester's bedroom that was always messy and Phil-like. It seems kind of sterile on Hazel's recent vlog, like he just places there random things on the shelves and that's it. What do you think?
He bought an expensive memory foam mattress for his bed whilst Dan's bed is the cheap one which planks kept breaking, so I think its good to say its comfier to sleep on Phil's bed.
BUT DO WE REALLY KNOW? Maybe they are all lies? Maybe the memory foam mattress is in Dan's bed? Why did Dan's beds planks keep breaking???? They don't just break from rolling over youknow....
(stop hating on the daddy)
I bought cheap beds before and believe me just by sitting on it hard can break those slim planks and I was then below 50 kg, so imagine a giant like Dan can do.
Phil kept boasting about his mattress and had a few of his collab guests on them so I think he might not lie about it but then who knows
Yup, I've bust a few Ikea bed slats, even though I'm not huge, they don't withstand rough treatment...!
Not forgetting the Bishi Bashi vid where Phil killed the futon...!

Re: The that it's all a set.
This came up. OK. OK, I admit, about a week into watching their videos I thought that their whole house was a set and there was no way that they actually lived there and filmed so frequently in their own private space. Everything was just too appointed and neat and it just feels sorta set-like? I got over this quickly but now that it's been raised again...hmmm...you know, it could be. But if it is, I don't really see it as a bad thing. Sure, they give the impression that they're filming from their actual bedrooms and living room and lounge but the impression serves its purpose. It gives you that intimate, homey feeling whether it's real or not. So we may never know the truth...but if it did turn out to be a set I wouldn't un- them for it. In fact, I'd be happy to know that they have some completely private space in their lives

I think your interaction can still fit with their behaviour here to an extent - I see Dan as more comfortable in interactions which are more distant, if that makes any sense, like just waving to fans and having impersonal M&G chats - he seems to very much stick to his rote compliments and 'thanks for watching our videos' ending, whereas Phil is perhaps more comfortable in more personal, less scripted conversations.
Just to run this analysis a little too far and to start reaching into 'this is bullshit speculation' territory: that also fits in with Dan saying that he's not always comfortable in social interactions in his personal life, in a situation where he doesn't have a mental script to run through/persona to play up. He's happy in a set, controlled role that he knows people can appreciate, and does seem to love that attention, but in personal situations it's quite a different form of attention - it's attention on him as a person they're interacting with rather than on the idea of DINOF that everyone already has in their heads at an M&G/tour stop. I don't know that Phil's possible discomfort with the attention is linked to that distinction in any way though, besides him perhaps being more confident in himself than Dan at least used to be, I imagine the screaming hoards are just quite overwhelming! (all love to the screaming hoards, just because I do my fandom slightly differently/am not that comfortable with crowds doesn't make me any different from them at heart!)
I'd actually love to hear missemma's thoughts on this having met D&P twice in less controlled situations, but I guess this is unfortunately pretty bad timing for that!
I always think that Dan is more comfortable when he has an actual purpose. When there is something to be done (talked about), he looks a lot less awkward, like the angry Dad incident or when he directed the bour trailor, or his pre planned m&g compliments, but when he doesn't know what to talk about, then he gets awkward and Phil fills in with small talk.
Just like a lot of socially awkward or anxious people are more confident in professional settings (totally projecting here).

oh god. i just found out that gaby & allison (they're two girls who used to work at buzzfeed, an article gaby wrote about being broke & famous on the internet went viral a few months back, they totally play up their ship) aren't actually roommates. Before that, they presented like they were best friends (and I'm sure they are...) that lived together in the apartment where they shot all their videos. Turns out gaby either never lived with allison or moved out and they continued to "maintain the canon of the show," as they said.
that said, i think it's safe to say that is not what is going on with D&P *knocks on wood* Plus, their apartment to me looks so lived-in and filled with their personalities, so I feel good about the status of it being a real home.

Yeah I really don't see Dan and Phil pulling it off. If it was all fake and their place a set, than I for one would be upset about that.

So they're filming a documentary? Does anyone know if its going to be an independent thing or a YouTube Red thing?
Regarding the bedrooms: if I knew I had to film in my bedroom and millions of people would watch it my bedroom would probably be so spotless it'd look like an ikea sales model as well, plus I get the feeling his parents probably actually watch his videos and with northern English mums you can be 9 or 29 and if your rooms a mess you'd better believe she will shout at you

I hope it's not YT Red. Surely it'll be for the Tour DVD?

Quoted for the damn truth. Even caught hell from my mum whilst in my first few days in hospital because I'd dropped a "dirty" vest top on the floor half under the bed whilst getting changed and left it there because at that point I genuinely couldn't move well enough to pick it up. "You need to be more careful, can't just make excuses, what will the doctors and nurses think?!"
That's not necessarily the case for Phil though, he's not the eldest. He's the often worst-behaved 2nd child who gets away with murder...

I don't think either bedroom is fake. I think having two bedrooms is very convenient even if they mostly sleep together in one or the other, and the rest of the time they're just treated like separate massive walk-in closets and filming spaces.
But I am one of those people who highly values having a space that looks and feels like my own so even if they didn't film in bedrooms I'd think it was probably healthy for both of them to have somewhere that they feel like retains some individual identity, since the entire rest of their flat is definitely a mix of the two of them.

Good points.
I agree with you as well, I don't think that either bedroom (or really anything in their home) is fake. And they do share so much together that having a place of their own with their aesthetics is probably a good thing.

Could very well be true, after all Phil has already told us so. They are just actors hired by google.

I have always been suspecting that their bedrooms look like set, but y'all made good points why they are probably not and also used for living.
They only choose to show us specific parts of their flat when they look the way they want us to see them (not only cleaned out but also with everyday items out of the shot), that's why it may seem to sterile. Like their flat is transformable and can be the set and also is their personal cave with all hoarded toys, posessions etc. But all those decorative items are on display not only because they like them this way, but because it is sometimes a background for videos/because they want guests to have a certain impression about their personalities/because they are given a lot of interesting stuff etc.
Though I wouldn't put it past them to have a room/flat that they have never showed us.

On the other hand, wow, they get almost no days off as it is and they're spending one of them planning more events. They are not shying away from the packed schedule.
I hope people are out in full vlog-and-snapchat force today.

Overall I'm more attracted to Phil, but that fucking sweater is really doing it for me.
I'm surprised that they're not spending the day relaxing, but it is nice to have something to look forward to other than more M&G photos.
