Ok I wanna talk a bit about the fan service bc it seems my take is a bit different. As someone said, fanservice can be anything that makes fans happy. So if we go to Dan and Phil, posting videos, tweets, instagram pics is gonna be fanservice even if it's obviously to deppy's best interest as well.
However when we talk about fanservice for them it's usually always really specifically about domesticity and touching and the idea of phan in general. I have never seen someone saying that Dan doing shots in his shower for videos was fanservice when typically showing skin can be classified as such.

This is a really interesting point! I bet most people who watch Dan and Phil would rather have Dan and Phil hug in a video than go shirtless in a video. I think it's because, although a lot of viewers probably do think Dan and/or Phil are attractive physically, people don't watch them because "they're hot." But then again, they never really do go shirtless. Basically just in those Jamaica videos and in that one vlog video where they're in Italy with Chris and PJ. If Dan or Phil were to actually film a video shirtless I do think the phandom would go a bit mental over it, haha.

I love playing flash games myself so I don't mind them playing those, but depends on the game - loved 'can you pet' as well (I mean last night I discovered 'rusty lake's' games and damn that 'cube escape: birthday' one messed up my brain honestly. that story I wouldn't mind and would love to see them playing something short and creepy like that for halloween. They honestly don't have to play long games if maybe they fear that it will eat up a lot of their time to film and edit. There are short games with good stories too. Maybe it's just me enjoying creepy games like Silent Hill PT. Although I enjoy the reactions to suspense, I agree with people that already mentioned it - I need less screaming from Dan - it hurts my ears...

I LOVE those Rusty Lake games. I am generally flash game trash to be honest but you're right, it would be the perfect material for them, just the right length for a self-contained video.

(just finished all of their cube escapes - birthday remains my favourite. I really want D&P to play it )


Just a last note regarding the games - I think it's very possible that we will get another part of the quiz cause they said at the end to like the vid if ppl want to see them play it till end and it already reached the 4th highest number of likes of all 80 of their gaming vids (currently only akinator, just dance & first undertale have more likes). So yeah. We might get another one.

As a person who works for IT support, GG's Tech should quit because more than 24hrs down time for data migration or any issue is a big nope. Then again I think GG is non-profit so we can't expect prompt action. I just joined the site and I was trying to read all D&P posts.

I really liked the video. I was surprised they uploaded one. I was getting used to waiting in vain for their videos. First, I was amazed that Phil can answer and explain how he got his answers. When I tried it yrs ago, I was simply guessing. He really has a creative mind. I wish this translates to his future videos more. (I'm all for "weird" videos.) Also, I liked that Dan was not as bossy and know-it-all on this video. Give the exag DINOF a break. But their interactions definitely made this video one of their most entertaining one.

I was disappointed that there was no ls. Phil was so sassy these past ls. I wanted to hear what he has to say about Batman/Superman especially with the bad reviews about the movie.

I know some people say that instead of criticizing their content we should just stop watching but I borth like them as people and I honestly thing that at the moment, they are being a bit lazy with their content. Not even lazy in the sense that they don't work hard but in the sense that they stay in their creative comfort zone, not producing anything that would progress their content. They are pretty stagnant atm. I know this sounds harsh but I kinda think its true.

Mutiny mutiny yay!! I also found out about this place through some GG twitter stalking oops. Can I just say that reading through 9 pages to catch up is nothing compared to going through 50 40-page threads; I trained for this (and was also going through withdrawal ngl).

Gaming video: Loved it. I wasn't expecting ANY videos from them this weekend so it was a very welcome surprise more than their videos usually are. Highlight for me was "God fuck" because that's like the #1 thing I say while driving and Phil's reaction to it was hilarious. And this was filmed before the last Undertale ep where Dan mentioned that he needed to stop putting Jesus on objects and suggested Buddha as an alternative. Phil: "No, something that's not religious". Heh.

Jack and Dean video: Meh. Jam was the highlight for me. I see what they're going for and I enjoy dry humour, but the sketch was too dry imo. My main takeaway after watching was: it looks great. Great lighting, great shots (the toaster), but looking great doesn't give something any substance. Just makes me roll my eyes harder at Jack's recent videos about content. Crabstickz yammering at his shitty camera for five minutes about nothing in particular is more entertaining than this sketch. "Effort" (I guess mainly meaning money/equipment/crew) doesn't equal quality is all I'm saying. Not that anybody asked. I'll get back on topic.

I went and watched a bunch of Phil's old deleted videos again on Fri/Sat (no GG, what do) and it made me think of the recent-ish conversation about his romantic history/awkwardness. He's awkward, but he's not shy. It was so interesting seeing him interact in his younger years with people that aren't Dan; very outgoing, very touchy. Even early mentions of 'space cats' so hey, he comes by his ~rand0mness~ honestly. I don't know about relationships obviously, but I don't think he would have had much trouble getting any action (if he wanted it) because he seemed friendly and engaging enough to draw people to him. Gah it just warmed my heart seeing him as a fetus. Maybe they considered the movie double-date as a celebration for his 10 years? And Dan didn't tweet because...? He never mentioned anything about the movie even though we all know he was there too; he's still fairly twitter-absent these days. Looking forward the ls on Tues assuming all goes well. (and will be waiting for any mentions of a new mattress or how he spent Easter with the Lesters...). Anyway.

Personally I think they're going to drop an offical Ladders ep for April 1st.

I don't think anything will be as good as last year because dapc was so spontaneous and surprising. None of us really expected it and it was great because it wasn't planned to death. Whatever they do this year has to top last year. And that's too much pressure to put on themselves. There's an expectation now.

I kind of hope they'll do something simple with their twitters like they used to. Everyone will be disappointed. But it will clear the air for next year or the year after so they can do something bigger then. A lot of why it was good was because it was so surprising.

I think fanservice is really important, and not really a bad thing. I think what people have a problem with is the ship-baiting, which can be really annoying for people, because they would be queerbaiting. But, I think they aren't really ship baiting or doing anything forced. I think like other people said, they do what feels natural in their forced personas, and leave parts that they would otherwise not leave in.

I'm a little confused by people wanting them to go topless in their videos. Dan used to go topless in his videos a lot.....actually he used to get naked in his videos a lot. In one of his really early videos he pulls off his trousers so that he's just standing in his boxers.



And that's just one that I happened to have saved on my iPad for, uh, no particular reason.

We're lucky if we get to see more than his shoulders these days. I'm not sure if he's more self conscious now that he has more viewers or if he's just being more aware of his public imagine/children watching him.

I think it's because neither have shown below the clavicles/just under in many years. thirsty fans want nipples, back, waist, bellybutton... the comments when either wear a tight top and turn around in a video are ridiculous, i'm pretty sure there'd be mass faintings if they showed the expanse of their back/shoulders. Dan encouraged that with his comment on the radioshow ('that shirt makes your frame look powerful').

me, the only thing i wouldn't say no to is more thigh. Dan has fantastic thighs, i could stare at them all day. so plump and curvy.

I'd prefer regularly uploaded quality content to any of the above though

just wanted to say gj with the new board guys !! the prolonged gg downtime was actually a godsend in getting everyone to move to unfamiliar territory out of sheer withdrawal lol. gg has always been a toxic place and that's reflected in the people that rise to power there. hopefully this place can flourish into the main forum for d&p discussion and attract deppy fans that were put off by the gg reputation before. feels like a cozy fan forum here, v nice vibes and makes me want to post only fangirly things lol
