i can relate to this..... except i still do it now in my late teens, lmao. why am i exposing myself like this? i only do it on the odd occasion, i promise. it doesn't actually taste that good, i'm not really sure why i do it. maybe i'm secretly a horse? #lolrandum #woofwoofimmahorse #bleurghhhhh #2011flashbacks

on a less self-centred note, i'll pitch in and answer the current question:

i don't rewatch (and rarely even enjoy) like 90% of the spons, because they're largely solitary gaming experiences that you likely wouldn't even share with a close friend, let alone post footage of for millions of people to see. i know that no one else would have cared to hear about my wicked sick strawberry milk cows i had in farmville when i was 10, and i don't really enjoy watching dan and phil talking about some cartoon dragons that they probably don't care about any more than i do. that being said though, i quite liked both of the best friend quiz videos, and i've rewatched both of them once or twice.

i generally enjoy the sims series but almost never find myself rewatching them. i think it's because the series is so story-oriented, and i don't find that as interesting to come back to. not to say that there's not some good #bants sprinkled in there, but i much prefer to rewatch videos that put more emphasis on d&p just chatting and joking around with some noncommittal game they're playing (the donkey kong and golf with friends series are some of my favourites for this exact reason), rather than videos that function mainly to progress a storyline that i'm already aware of if i'm watching the video for a second time. that being said though, in order to enjoy a gaming video i definitely do also have to have some level of interest in the game itself.

i don't get as much enjoyment out of watching them play flash games, so i seldom go back those videos. i don't mind the more high-pressure games (e.g. keep talking and nobody explodes) on first watch but don't really revisit them either; as i said before, i'm more into watching them chill out and play an interesting but low-commitment game.

oh, and i never watched any of the undertale videos, but only because i'd like to play the game myself at some point. i'll definitely watch them if i ever get around to playing it though!

i probably have more to say on this but i feel i've already spent an obscenely long time writing this post (i just checked and it's literally been almost an hour oh my GOD..... perfectionism is a bitch) and i need to go to sleep!! i have no idea if this post makes sense, i'm TIRED

edit: oh my god my salt confession and self-important ramblings are top of the page. why this

Hasn't Phil talked about how he thinks back to his sodium intake as a 90s kid and how just crazy it was? Something about going to his friends house with fish and chips and stinking up the place until the mom finally kicked him out?

Is it tequila shots that you lick salt off the back of your hand? I'm old but am not very experienced in these matters!

I won't waffle on about my fave collabs and gaming vids as they're very similar to a lot of the folks on here: fave collabs are Louise and Tyler (and PJ to a lesser extent). Don't mind most other collabs but don't tend to seek them out to re-watch unless they get mentioned here and I want to remind myself.

Gaming videos: Golf with Friends is my favourite series...it's about time did the next course . Other favourites that I'll re-watch when I need a laugh are the Yasuhati vids and Gang Beasts. I also really like the physical games like Dance Evolution, Kinect Sports, 1-2 Switch etc :D . The Sims videos are my youngest daughter's favourites so we often have them on in the morning before school and I always enjoy watching them.

Don't like the #spons, don't want to re-watch Happy Wheels, Who's The Daddy, Horse Prince or Club Penguin.

I've rewatched the Just Dance and other moving-around game vids a bunch of times, and most of gamingmas and spooky week(s) as well. I'd never rewatch Undertale because (unpopular opinion) I think the game is really dull and didn't really enjoyed it the first time around.

As much as I love the Sims videos, I haven't rewatched that many of them, especially lately. If I do, it's usually on the same day as the first watch-through, since sometimes I miss funny moments the first time around.

Man I feel like I have been a cheeky #spon for 84 years.

and with that discussion you dragged me into rewatching collabs with Tyler again

I just love them because Dan and Phil behave somehow differently when he's around and it's fascinating every time

I also enjoy the ones with Louise a lot, she and Dan always leave me in stitches

as for the gaming videos, I constantly rewatched everything that was uploaded before Gamingmas, especially the Sims more house makeovers and screaming Dan like in "Dil has a stalker" please
the only big thing that I haven't rewatched is Undertale, simply because of the length, but I really enjoyed the series, maybe I'll get back to them one day. I'd really appreciate it if they started something nice and slow again :)

now that they upload regularly I try to keep pace with the new ones and tend to rewatch less

This is kind of a shit post, but I found this interesting, and only remembered to post this now:
I was watching Black Mirror, based on deppy's recommendation, so I found this interesting to learn with the knowledge that Phil in particular has watched the show. I was watching the show "White Christmas" when this guy playing a character in the first part of the episode shows up:
Image
No matter what, I couldn't shake that I had seen this guy before, and I couldn't let it go. So I went to find the actors name and it's "Rasmus Hardiker" but when I googled it and I was even more confused to find that I had googled it before...until I read his bibliography:
Image
oh, okay...so...

(your youtube link is broken no matter what, so: http://youtu.be/rHPoeEPV8p4?t=70
he's the fucking thumbnail and everything
I thought this would be valuable to share, so we can all imagine Phil sitting there and recognizing the guy off the tv for his six pack.
(also I checked and they don't follow each other on twitter, so there's no friendship there anymore it was fun while it lasted)

Ooh, that's funny, glad you could find out who it was (usually you can with IMDB, of course, unless the character isn't named or the actor doesn't have any photos online). I remember from the Faintheart video wondering what he'd done since as an actor. Six-pack mention is funny, Phil being impressed in comparison or just in general ;) Looks like an evil character in Black Mirror. I keep meaning to watch that, but I haven't been in a good enough mood in case it's too horrible.

I'm totally late on this, but there is a whole thread I created (my one contribution to this forum) a long time ago that slipped onto the second page about re-watching videos if anyone wants to talk more about it there.

Oh I'm glad that isn't just me... I mean it's late here and I'm not a native, but: ????

It was really fast-paced and until about 80% in I had no clue what he was getting at - and I am still not sure if I got it? He touched on so many topics that it seemed a bit all over the place. Why the rush? This kinda feels like a 15 min video that he cut down and that now makes less sense but still contains all the jokes.

HI, as my username says i'm getting out of lurking and posting my first post. yey me, (btw english isn't my native language so bear with me)

Just wanted to share some thoughts on the newest video, since it's been up for a whole 10 minutes as i'm writing this... lol no life.

I liked it. I like the idea of dan slowly reaching out of his comfort zone of comedy videos and impressions, with a bit more of a philosophical point of view. even though it's still dank memes i find it quite remarkable that he had such a discussion about it. I think he would've won more if he slowed down a bit and actually dug in the meanings behind what he says, and not just "tell us". But yeah, i liked it. It was new, fresh and i liked that we finally got to see his new video background. LOVING the plastic bonsai,...... hahaha.. BAI

I had to watch it with the captions as husband was watching a music show and I was completely baffled...looks like having the sound on wouldn't have made much difference

I'll give it another go later!

New video is... interesting. When Dan said he was thinking about doing a more philosophical video I was thinking of something different to this, but I suppose he has to stay on brand.

Enjoyed the editing, loved the outro! Not sure about the font but wowwww it was oddly satisfying and pleasing to me

I mean, I personally feel as though our generation is the bridge between new modern society and our old society. We're going to, and already have, created a great deal and progressed massively imo - we're not as stagnant as we like to think.

Memes topic... I could see where he was going but I think his thoughts were executed oddly. Think the vid could've been longer to fully explain them. Also would prefer if the camera was back a bit, it felt like he was too close to me oops.

(Guess we were right though, when Dan's quiet and Phil's away ya know a new vids coming).

what the fuck did i just watch?

i value the fact that dan wanted to sit down and make a video deeper than his usual schtick. and maybe he's trying to do something new. but like.... did that even have a real topic? was that all not just a really long-winded way of saying "we're stuck in a weird in-between and it's ok to just want to have a career that doesn't change the course of the world."

there was a lack of pauses in this video, be it a skit or just like.... a breather. or even a joke. i just kinda felt attacked by words.

but i'll take it. i'll take dan attempting to evolve over an ISG any day.

I consider my English listening comprehension skills relatively good, but this time I got so confused I was basically just watching him talk without comprehending anything. Maybe if I rewatch I'll get the point... :wtf:

I'm not sure how much I really absorbed but I did like the video and what (I think??) the general gist was. The editing made me laugh, at least. Good use of googly eyes. If nothing else, it's cool to see him trying something new.

I second the above. I feel like this is a tentative step into new territory and he's a bit nervous about it, afraid to actually go deep yet. I'd say it's a good attempt, and he will probably be a bit more cohesive next time. It's a little rushed and maybe not as cleanly structured as my argumentative writing professor would have liked, but the animations were fun, and I love the editing. And I think of him like my second little brother so I have a tendency to blindly support effort when I see it, like with my brother, cause that's how you encourage them to keep trying.

According to dan, this whole video is meant to be taken as a shit post. And it's been sitting in his video idea drafts for almost two years. Honeslty, I kinda liked this video? It was fast pace sure, but like, I don't know, it felt like something new and kinda funny.
