Ughh I spent so much time close to Toronto/Montreal last year, and now I'm on the opposite side of the country. I'll never get over their tour planning. Selling the American merch at the show is just the tip of the iceberg.

I am still hoping for the European tour though, chances are, I'll be back in Europe by that time, so maybe I'll be able to see it there..

Still excited for the Toronto dates though, I'm curious to see if people will ask them about the lack of Canadian dates!

I wouldn't hold out for them doing any other dates in Canada, so if it's something you really want to see, I'd say it's worth it. Shows usually are, imo, since the travel sort of becomes part of the experience.

That being said, if they did announce more Canadian dates in the future and I had already trekked 6 hours to see them, I'd be slightly pissed. :sideeye:
I wish they would just tell us what their future tour plans are. I get that they don't want people to be disappointed if their plans fall through but its so hard for people to decide whether to make an effort to get to the tour now or wait and hope they come closer to where people live. Especially with Toronto. I'm about 90% sure that they're not going to do more Canadian dates later but why can't they just say so?
Everyone is hoping they're going to do a European tour and a world tour and they keep kind of implying that maybe that's going to happen but I wouldn't be surprised if this tour exhausts them so much that they won't want to do another one for 20 years! :(

wow, so original, much lolzor.

they could have come up with something better than "so tall". i do like the idea though that the fan came up with.

also, loving the photos of the dad's at the m&g, it's kinda cool that they get to meet some older people haha! can you believe that some of these parents though have paid the £130 or whatever it was in America to meet these two, like they are seriously good to their daughters because that's so much money just to take your kid along. (i only know that the parent also has to have a ticket because i asked someone at the show).

I can just imagine the Dad's being, "Don't know who these losers are, but Im'ma gonna get my money's worth," haha.

Also, It surely can't be £130, that's like $260 CAD, which is a ridiculous amount to spend for a M&G.

Ok so I surprisingly didn’t have too much anxiety about going alone. In fact, I’m happy I went alone because I can only imagine what my friends/family would’ve said if I made them go with me

The speakers were extremely loud in the beginning when it was counting down for their grand entrance! It scared the shit out of me but it got me excited. When they came out it was so weird seeing them in real life. They’re actually shorter than what I imagined (at least from where I was sitting—which was in the 7th row in orchestra so decently close). I bet people don’t say that very often lol. If I had stood next to them I would’ve been dwarfed obvs, but just seeing their proportions—that sounds weird—was a weird experience because in my head I exaggerated how tall they are. I got used to it as the show went on though.

Overall, I enjoyed it! Ngl, I know I would’ve enjoyed it even more if I hadn’t spoiled it for myself multiple times (lol) but I didn’t think/know they’d come to Toronto, nor was I ever planning to go originally after finding out they were. I’m sure the shock value is a huge part of the excitement/experience. But nevertheless I liked being able to finally see them in person as I never thought I would and always wondered what it would be like. They’re really good at performing in the sense of being very charismatic and enthusiastic. I won’t lie, sometimes it was a bit corny and it did feel like they were catering to a younger audience, but that’s ok, I still liked it and would go again if I could!

Now onto the lengthy spoilerinos~~~
In the beginning they talked about Toronto. Phil did a bad Canadian accent, Dan listed some Toronto facts he knew:
-it’s where Drake is from
-it’s where they saw their first baseball game (aww); Phil then chanted the “let’s go, Blue Jays” cheer

Phil mentioned how he wanted to bring a moose in but it would’ve been hazardous.

7SC
During the whole show I was paying attention to see what was different about this show compared to the other shows based on spoilers I’ve read until now. It seemed like a lot of the challenges were things I’d read that they did at other shows? Anyway, off the top of my head, they did: say alphabet backwards (D-->P), sing Canadian national anthem (D-->P), rap about Moose (D-->P), write your name with your butt (P-->D), compliment Kanye in Shrek’s voice (P-->D)

The last two ones were especially amusing lol. Dan was pretty good with the impression! The all or nothing challenge was Dan pretending to be a whale swimming across the room. He didn’t move and just made whale sounds while he pretended to swim in place

Magic
Pretty entertaining! I was trying to figure out how each trick was done lol. The most impressive ones were the bowling ball one, the one where he creates a “cake” out of separate papers, and the ribena one! Btw, didn’t someone say in a review that the ribena froze? Did they mean froze in midair? I thought they meant in temperature lol!

Weird Kid
The first half of this section was alright; most of the things Phil described was said in videos. The failed selfies of Dan were pretty funny though. I’m guessing they used a stock photo for Phil’s friend in the broken arm story. In the UK apparently he used his friend’s actual pictures?
I liked the bit with the audience’s stories though! There were people who:
-ate watermelon seeds so they could grow a tree in their belly (Dan pointed out this is the opposite of what people want bc they fear that happening)
-shaved their dolls’ hair and stuck it to the cat (Dan made a joke about the cat being swaggy bc of it)
-dressed in protective gear and purposely skateboarded into their garage (Dan laughed and said it was like Jackass the movie. People also "corrected" him on his pronunciation since they said gear-ridge and we say it like gar-ojj....he joked and sarcastically said "oh sorry, garage~~" and did a sassy body wiggle while he pronounced it the second way lol)
-tried to pet their fish (they were commenting how that’s terrifying for the fish)
-scraped their dinner off their plate and ate it off the table (Dan joked about the parents lamenting about this)
-put sand in their hair (Phil said it could exfoliate the scalp)

Tumblr Tag
There was a model of their DAPG room which was cute. Dan pointed out that it had the correct leader board score with Phil losing lol. There were also handmade D+P dolls and of course the pop-up book.

ISG
Shout out to bagged milk—yay!
It featured problems such as:
-how do I convince my mom anime is cool (Dan laughed and said to just make her watch Free lol)
-how do I get my friends to appreciate my dank memes (Dan laughed and said make them get a tumblr)
-what do I do when you’re around annoying people and you want to kill them (Dan was like, “maybe keep those thoughts to yourself”)

And of course:
-John Cena !/#/!/#/!/#
-Rick Roll

In the year 2083
Watching them twerk was hilarious. That is all.

Fanfiction
Cowboys (with maple leaf cowboy hats), camping, French girl, standard lol. They made people scream-vote twice for the cowboys part though. It looked like they were genuinely pondering which scream was louder (it was pretty close though). Do they always do this with the vote twice thing?

Dil
Dil was extremely close to where I was sitting. I did NOT expect him to be so close and the thing he wore was terrifying!

Finale
As mentioned before, they wore the gold suits. It was nice seeing them sing and dance up close haha.

When they were moving across the stage I could see Phil paying attention to his steps to make sure he didn’t run into his cactus lol. Also, they messed up the lyrics at one point. Dan said “without the internet we never would have met” part and Phil said “we might be anti-social” part. Dan trailed off when he realized and him and Phil made eye contact when it happened and Dan made some gesture with his finger---I assume he meant they’d flip the order. Good thing I spoiled it for myself or I wouldn’t have known what it was supposed to be and would’ve been confused ;)

I would always replay the sneaky recordings of the song/dance part so I enjoyed seeing them do it before my very eyes lol. The song is very catchy and I was singing along in my head.

Overall, as I said, I enjoyed it and would go again if I could! If I left anything out/if you want to know more specifics, let me know!

I can’t wait until the tour is over so they can release what they recorded! I wish they recorded each and every show so everyone who attends can have a copy more personal to them since they do slightly change some things for each show.

Yay blueapple, thank you so much for your review. I loved reading it! I'm glad you decided to get tickets in the end
what was the cake magic trick? I don't think he did that in NYC and it sounds really good. Can you explain a bit more?

They didn't use the broken arm story for weird kid in the UK but I'm pretty sure that is just a generic stock photo.

Also, they did the crowd cheer twice for Cowboys too, not sure if this is usual though as in the uk it varied.
I also love hearing when they mess up a little haha, they reign it back in so easily though. Would you have noticed if you hadn't heard the song before?

Great review blueapple_x. I am glad you decided to go in the end. I am loving reading all these reviews
I forgot that they wouldn't be wearing the USA suits and I am glad that they took the gold suits with them. I much prefer the gold suits anyway tbh, makes more of a spectacle of the whole song/dance at the end.

You're welcome everyone! And I'm glad I got a ticket as well! I'm really looking forward to their tour video when it comes out in ten years when the tour is over. I guess they'll sell a travel+BTS documentary and perhaps a show/multiple shows they recorded? I can only hope

The cake magic trick started off with Phil holding a bunch of large white cards with different ingredients on it to make a cake. One at a time, he'd hold up a card with the words on it (butter, eggs, flour), then the microwave/screens would show a picture of the ingredient. Then he gathered all the cards together in his hands and somehow they became one and he revealed they turned into a colourful poster with a picture of a cake on it. After the bowling ball trick Dan joked that Phil could literally create a physical bowling ball but he gave him a picture of a cake lol.

Lol ngl, I kinda like hearing about slight mess-ups too; it's endearing in a way. I kept remembering all the spoilers where they messed up before. I was secretly waiting for the microwave to screw them over somehow, or for Dan's pants to split in half at the crotch. To answer your question, imo the mistake was obvious enough that I think I still would've realized that they messed up even if I didn't hear the song beforehand. They went from singing the same words to singing different words and trailing off/mumbling the rest of that part lol. But they played it off well enough and kept going. The music was loud enough to help a bit. It was a minor blip but noticeable, basically.
ALSO:
You could totally see Dan's underwear the whole time (what else is new, right?). Especially in the beginning! Good lord it was a throwback seeing so much surface area of the clothed upper portion of his backside.
When he turned to mount the llama, I think people were kind of taken aback (I know I was) and seemed to be telling him to pull them up lol. I kept thinking his tight pants would rip when he raised his leg.
He pulled them up a bit offstage because you could see the difference after he came back on stage to join Phil, but you would think he would’ve checked in the beginning when they started the show lol. They were a light grey-ish/blue-ish if anyone is wondering

Thanks for the review blueapple_x It was really interesting to compare it to the night before. I was so glad they brought the gold suits back. They're way cooler than the American ones.
re: the cheer-vote for the cowboy fan-fic. It wasn't even close on Saturday so they only did it once.

Ohh, I went to the show last night too! :D I dragged along two of my friends (one who knew them a little, and the other who did not know them at all) and safe to say we all enjoyed it a lot!

Really glad I pushed myself to go because that was absolutely worth it. The amount of effort they put into the show as really incredible to see. I loved the little Canadian aspects they incorporated too.

oh glad you enjoyed yourself. That is very interesting that your friend who is not invested much and especially your friend who didn't know them at all both liked it. Since I feel it is a very inside-jokey show I have to admit I thought only fans well familiar with their universe would like it.

That's exactly what I thought as well. But I guess it also largely depends on one's sense of humour and how internet savy/up-to-date they are with the latest pop culture and internet memes. I sat beside two stoic older ladies. One of them was a mom with her daughter and I'm not sure if the other one was there alone or not. The mom laughed a little but the other lady was like a rock. She even checked her phone a couple times in the show to text.

Oh!
maybe they did do the cake trick in NYC and I just forgot about it! You saying him holding up the cards jogged my memory. I can't have thought it was that good because I had totally forgotten he had done that! Did Dan go towards the box and scream "PHIL WHY IS THERE A DEAD RABBIT IN HERE". I read he did it in Florida, so assumed it was a scripted thing.

& in NYC, Dan's pants were totally visible the whole night. They were patterned ones for any nosey people out there, haha! I did wonder why they were on show so much, seeing as he's been pretty good at getting trousers that fit properly for a while. Not gonna lie, I didn't mind seeing his butt for most of the show ;)

I'm so glad people are going to see it because I've said it so many times, regardless to age or how cringe you think it's going to be, it's such a good show that it's a shame to let anything put you off going. I'd definitely advocate going more than once too!

Lol yeah Dan screamed about the dead rabbit while Phil made that cutting motion towards his neck to get him to not talk about it.

Maybe all of Dan's back-up jeans are tight AF. He probably didn't want to risk wearing his good fitting jeans in case they tear.
I didn't mind the view either 8-) :butt:

Oh yes, there were definitely aspects of the show they were confused on until I explained
e.g.
Dil coming in, the llama/lion significance
but for the most part, they did like how fast-paced, well put together/rehearsed, and theatrical it was. Aside from the inside jokes, they still had fun and are open to checking them out further. :D Might be because they're just open to experiencing something new too. :P
