I had a feeling this would be the way of it, but I'm still a little disappointed. make it a sexy skype session and that there is my new headcanon.

I'm here 100% for joint live shows, though!

Not much to contribute but I'll put it under a spoiler 'cause maybe you'd like to move on already.
Sometimes I feel like I'm reading a different forum than some of you because I think things here are pretty well balanced. Maybe it depends on which side of the fence you're standing, though. I like them both equally so I don't mind if the discussion is about Dan's butt or Phil's amazing brain, or whatever, really.
Anyway if you want to talk more about Phil, why don't you just do it instead of expecting other people to express what you're thinking? And if you don't want to read something you can always skip it, to be honest.
I'm not annoyed but a bit sad that there's no liveshow today.

Same!

Love the new thread title (yeah still not a shipper)

Well from tabinof we know that they do text each other, but we obviously have no idea how much. We also know that they call each other when the other is away on holiday (like when Dan was in India), and they might even skype each other, but that we do not know (except for in their earlier days of course and when they were working on the book).

I'd say both following that account this morning is a good indication of some form of communication being kept up.

(Imagine if they were just spamming each other with animal pictures.) (Like if Phil woke up too early bc of jetlag and sent Dan a few.) (Or like if Dan was bored and sent Phil a bunch for him to wake up to.) (I'll let myself out.)

i was really looking forward to the liveshow but then again i spent the whole day catching up on the main thread instead of working so maybe i can take a break and like go to bed early or sth  gah, who am i kidding, please fill my evening with funny tweets and edits of as i am just a humble
ngl, i am kinda looking forward to the american tour and kinda not because 3 months of touring with a tourbus is gonna be intense af! both for them and for us. content drought is a big fear factor tbh  i just don't really think they would film that much there - only prerecorded stuff, how much of those do they have anyway, you think? - also don't think they will do many live shows (once a month if we're lucky :? ) prove me wrong boys! ;)

also, hi my first post in the main thread :waves awkwardly:

this one was my favourite (Dans current coat kinda looks like this image):
Also, when I saw this one I thought this might have been his face when he realised he was being followed into the alley:

I'd guess a lot, since apparently it's how they communicate whilst they're in the house.

That fan encounter is equal parts cringeworthy and creepy. Sorry if that sounds judgemental, but it is. At least I can honestly say I wasn't following Louise hoping to speak to her when I met her in Liverpool - literally walked round a corner INTO her (in fact Darcey bounced off my legs, bless her!) The tweets however, some of them are bloody brilliant!

Guess Dan's either sat at the airport or on a plane now. Or trapped inside the neighbours home so he doesn't get done for B&E / dognapping... :sideeye:

Yeah, following Dan into an alley is...that's next level. I'm imagining that scene from Never-ending Story where Bastion chases the bullies while riding Falkor and they hide in the dumpster.

So speaking of next level creepy, as I mentioned before, my creepy attempts at scoring tickets through their publisher and publicist aren't panning out thanks to those jerks running the tour themselves without the help of their management team (ugh). So my next plan of action is that I'm working a live event production at the Dolby theatre next week and I'm going to try to buddy up to venue staff and see if I can schmooze this way. I had a dream that I suddenly got crazy rich and just contacted their manager and offered $10K to let me take them out to a bar while they were in town.

I am a ridiculous person.

So, something caught my eye in the last thread, (I'm sorry, I don't remember who posted this. ;_; ) and I thought it was weird because I swear I've never seen this?

Phil wrote:3. Stéphane from The Science of Sleep - reminds me of me
Unfortunately, I've never seen The Science of Sleep, so my intuition could be completely off the mark. Looking at Wikipedia and reading about Stéphane gave me a bit of context on who this character Phil supposedly relates to is, and here was somethings that I found curious:
Stéphane Miroux is a man whose vivid dreams and imagination often interfere with his ability to interact with reality[...]His mother implies the position is a creative role, and he prepares colourful drawings, each showing a disaster, for his "disasterology" calendar. However, nobody appreciates his talents and it transpires that his mother had led him on[...]Stéphane realizes that Stéphanie (love interest), like him, is creative and artistic[...]Stéphane becomes more enamoured with Stéphanie the more he spends time with her and shares his many inventions with her[...]
For one, it doesn't surprise me that Phil sees himself in this character. It seems that he is aware of how eccentric he can be to the point where he may throw some people off.

The first excerpt reminded me a bit of Chris' ask.fm answer about Phil seeming like he lived in two worlds. The second excerpt, however, makes me a bit sad. I'm sure there are several points in Phil's life where he may feel like his creativity and thought process may not be appreciated by those around him, so there's that.

Along with that train of thought, there's a second half of the plot where Stéphane falls in love with a character who he both relates to and can share his underappreciated creative side with. I'm not going to say Phan, (though I'm sure people can draw a million connections there) but there is also seems to be an undercurrent of needing approval/validation from Stéphane about his passions that resounded with Phil in some form.

I don't know, I thought it was interesting? I don't even think I made sense, considering how my knowledge of this movie is literally from Wikipedia. If anyone who has seen this movie can expand on my thoughts that'd be grand. :D

tbh they'd overlap way too frequently to be realistic. i'm sure there's some way that separate discussion topics could be organised, but pretty much every conversation about one of them links almost perfectly to the other. i hate the 'joined at the hip' views some people have but when it comes to discussions, it's kind of true. even in a topic about one, the other would be brought up in a comparison

Agreed. As ironic put it, if you want to talk more about one of them/a particular topic, you can always initiate it instead of waiting for everyone else to. Don't be discouraged if nobody is analyzing Phil deeply enough. I'm sure lots of people will be happy to chime in if an interesting theory/analysis is brought up. And if you don't want to read/discuss something, you can always skip it. At least that's what I do and it works for me lol.

True. After a while it would be completely pointless.

Also, I was thinking today that they are kinda boring and wanted some drama. Then I arrive here and the drama is forum based lol what I had in mind was more of a reaction to something Dan would say on his liveshow, but he ain't doing one, so that will do :|

Agree that it all seem to be a lot more Dan centric across the phandom (including here), but at the same time the people who complain don't bring out the conversation. I know I'm one of them so I don't get too mad, but I notice that when someone tries to start a conversation on Phil it usually doesn't go on for long, so I don't get really encouraged...

Now: great post, crash[]. Interesting to see that he sees himself in a character like that, made me wanna watch that to understand better.

I'll join the club. He really is Phil's brother.

I apologise that I brought up the centric thing in my rant. I shouldn't have said that coz I don't even like that topic. I just woke up at the wrong side of my bed.

I was really looking forward to watch Dan's ls. I want to see whiny Dan. Ugh. I ended up doing adult stuff instead. Do you think his on his way to the airport?

I really admire the Lesters, especially the close relationship that Martyn has with Phil. His tweets never fail to make me chuckle, either.

(I've always wondered what the dynamic between Martyn & Dan is like. Martyn and Phil seem to have a similar sense of humour, but I can't really see Dan being all "this guy". If anyone wants to read phanfic featuring Martyn/Cornelia & Dan/Phil, water (park) sports by snsk is great. http://archiveofourown.org/works/4427000)
