In other news (I was gonna say off-topic but lbr everything's off-topic when you've got fuck all content and you're just amusing yourselves with old dailybooths, bus sex and sad wanking) look what Phil favourited:

I dunno why but the way they wrote that really made me laugh. Apparently it made Phil laugh too lol sometimes the phandom is just plain funny.

To add this to our buying/renting debate, I actually think this is a legit factor which could push them to move. I feel like they're pretty desperate for a dog and once they're not touring they have a good lifestyle to accommodate one.

Will it make denying Phan harder? Yes, probably. A shared dog is quite a commitment not often undertaken by platonic bros. Are they willing to not move on with their lives and do important shit like buying property and getting a dog for the sake of stopping people talking? I doubt it. Watch this space people, I reckon 2017 will be interesting.

This brings us to a new mini-poll: what breed of dog do you think they would will get?

- Shiba Inu (the obvious choice, but a pretty sizeable dog which wouldn't be too happy with apartment-living I don't think and will need hella walks)
- Frenchie (because its a Youtuber fave, smaller and lazier which may fit their appetite for exercise a little better)
- Pug (similar to reasoning for a French, but just a tad more ridiculous in a funny way and Phil has a penchant for Pug-adorned clothing lol)
- Add your own and let me daydream about how cute they'd be with the breed of your choice

You say that like it's a bad topic to speculate over... Although if they can both fit in it, they should be able to... nevermind.

As for the ? They can have whatever one they want, but if this particular little woof comes to the UK they aren't having her, she's MINE.

Shiba Inus are actually fairly small but super zoomie and independent and really, really not a great dog for first time dog owners. (I know Dan grew up with pet dogs but never as primary caretaker for them, and Phil never had one, right?) If they were dedicated enough they could make it work with a shibe but I kinda hope they don't.

For some reason I do see them wanting an energetic dog though. Frenchies and pugs have loads of health issues and often require surgery so they're also not great first time dogs, but lbr Dan and Phil have enough money to make sure any kind of dog is more than cared for, health-wise.

I hope they'd rescue, whatever they get. It's just a great precedent to set.

My gf is convinced that Dan will end up with a "tiny ass Pom" which admittedly is hilarious, and also this one looks like a baby bear.

No kidding hilarious. I can't quite get my head around the 6'2" [I KNOW!! pause for laughter] walking a teeny tiny not-a-dog I go with Jeff Dunham's definition on what is and is not a dog. fite me. on a lead.

This is never going to happen and is totally just me projecting, but I'd love for them to get a medium-size dog like a border collie (which are super intelligent) or an Australian shepherd (which are super cute) or some dog that's a mix of one of these breeds if they ever move out of London. Imagine one of those running around the coast at brighton and trying to herd D&P Plus it would make them add some exercise to their lifestyle.

Does anyone know what breed Dan's family dog Maggie was? She appears in his New Year's Resolution Fail video. Maybe there's chance yet they'll go for a larger/non-memed doge

I know nothing about dog breeds but there's a ls(can't remember when) in which Dan describes his previous dog as a mix and said that it has lived a long life...so for me they will have a mutt taken from a friend or from shelter, especially with Dan's mentality about animals.

I know they name drop shiba inus and stuff, but I've always just wanted them to get a random dog from a shelter or something, not any particular fancy breed. As for specifics, I think it will be of largish size; that's as far as my imagination goes tbh. I'm fine with any dog really, as long as they get one or more.

(Lol, I'm not even a dog/animal person at all but it's a deep desire of my heart for Deppy to one day get a dog and be madly in love with it.)

I mean, they've been able to deny a flat-out love confession leak, it's not like they're coming out as a couple before they wanna no matter what. Like it's already kinda hard to deny Phan, but it's not stopping them.

As far as dog breeds go... hard to imagine them not going for a at this point, but a Basenji would also be fun, imo, and slightly easier to take care of. Or a Pomeranian if they end up wanting a tiny cuddle bug that is also fun and playful. (The more a dog reminds me of a cat, the more I'll like a dog. Like, yeah, a Golden Retriever would probably be hella easier for them, they like everybody, but where's the fun in that?)

Border Collie and Australian Shepherd are two of my favorite breeds. I tend to prefer mixed breed dogs but when I'm finally in a place where I can get one I'll probably look for a mix that heavily favors one of those. I do think they'd do well with an intelligent dog, and something that encourages them to be more active in an interactive way. I guess it would entirely depend on the size of their yard and location they end up in but if I had my phan-with-puppy fantasy they'd get a black and tan shibe or a border collie.

Probably but I'd vote they rescue a shelter animal if they decide to get a dog.

If they got a dog they don't have to tell the fans it's shared they can just say something along the lines of Phil now has a dog but Dan wasn't ready for the commitment and figures he gets to play with Phil's anyway so he gets all the fun without the responsibility of dog ownership.

(As Phil can't get a plant without Dan talking about what the commitment means for him they will fool no one but that besides the point lol).

yesss! collies and australian shepherds are two of my favorites as well, which is why I shamelessly gave the imaginary dan and phil in my mind one. i also definitely support adopting mixed dogs/mutts, so any dog related to those breeds or just resembling them is good enough for me.

vaguely related, but I like how dan said in a liveshow that he wants to wait until he's in the right place to adopt a dog it is good to have the attitude that dog ownership is work from the get-go

I kind of would love to see them with Corgi or tiny pomeranian. Idk. I think they would even rock some sweet Maltese or Bichon (i have a bichon lol), because they are so cute, tiny, fluffy and really easy to train, but they require a lot of fur care. Even though, I think they would love a fluffy dog.
I wouldn't recommend getting shiba, because they are apparently hard to train for first timers. And come one, every youtuber has a pug, so they would deffo want to be special snowflakes.
When it comes to "aesthetics" they would look really great having a dalmatian. Say what you want, dalmatians are amazing dogs and look very special.
But in the end, I hope they'll just get some cute fluffy mutt from a shelter and set a good example.

Damn I should have thought of the shelter rescue option. Only thing is its not always a smart idea for first time owners since their personalities/dispositions can be really unpredictable

I personally reckon they'll go for a mid-sized mixed breed. Something of a similar ilk to Colin maybe.
phamnotof wrote: I mean, they've been able to deny a flat-out love confession leak, it's not like they're coming out as a couple before they wanna no matter what. Like it's already kinda hard to deny Phan, but it's not stopping them.
This is a good point. While I'm adding my two cents I think they will buy a house and they will get a dog in the mid future, but they'll move without addressing whether they're renting or not (we'll work out that they've bought, but as long as its not obvious to the general audience and journos they'll probably be fine since that's their MO generally) and it will be 'Dan's dog' in title but theirs in reality.

Like with Jenna and Julien - their dogs aren't technically 'theirs' since Kermit and Marbles are Jenna's and Peach is Julien's but really they're theirs. And they make that separation without even trying to hide a relationship so wouldn't be unreasonable to do.

Deppy if you're reading this and taking my closeting tips you best upload a fuckin long video as payment. That's a currency I can work in

I hope they get a rescue as well, I am strongly against purebred miniature toy dogs, people breed them just for the humans' vanity and pleasure, they usually have genetic diseases, it's animal abuse.

They can get a mutt dog, a smaller one, that can live inside an apartment, whatever it is I'm sure they will love it just the same.

If they move to Brighton or LA they can get a big one thought, but i doubt it. I can't imagine them living in any other city, they are such London-y boys. (Whatever the hell that means) I always forget they use to live in Manchester, and they both come from small towns.

as long as they wait until the tour is 100% done and theyre sure theyre not planning any other long term bust out-of-the-country projects, then idc what dog they get. but i still get the feeling they arent settling down anytime soon, the talks of some sort of retirement to a small island seem bizarre when you look at the last couple of years. a house slightly out of the city centre in a year or so, yeah, but no settling. i think hope dan will do another doc thing at the end of this year/start of next year, and even if he doesnt do any solo stuff himself, leaving phil alone with a dog..? hm.
i'd rather they were responsible and realistic about what the next 2~ years have rather than deciding dog = calm and settled so lets get one.

To lamely add to the dog discussion, I could see them with a lab or golden mix. Good temperaments, good size, and just sweet dogs. Also, I hope they rescue, too. I have always been a lover of big mixed breeds!

I usually don't participate in theoretical domestic conversations, but I really would hope that they'd do this. I've seen so many YouTubers with puppies from breeders. I like to think Dan & Phil would think about shelter animals... but hey, who knows. Don't mean to spark a debate, I'm just a fan of shelter animals.
