Wow, I'm a good student and go to my lectures for once and suddenly there's a load to catch up on!
Loved the video oqua, and really interested to see how the liveshow goes tonight!
As for the sexuality debate I don't want to get into it too much but I think it's unlikely that all these male attraction mentions are purely fanservice/queerbating etc. Maybe it's wishful thinking but I feel like Dan's just slowly being more open with his audience?
Also we need a new word for avoiding something because Haru-ing doesn't work anymore unless of course he goes back to ignoring Haru pillow's existence

I actually feel like the male attraction mentions might be fan service to some degree, in the sense that, while I do think he is most likely bisexual or something similar (although I think it is possible that he is straight, however, very unlikely), I just feel like in recent years he has emphasized on and mentioned male attraction in sometimes overly sexual manners which has had the effect of sounding very deliberate (the mentions in the two latest videos for example). So while I do think he is most probably genuinely attracted to males, I think he might have mentioned it more frequently than normal in order to please certain groups of his fans, which I think also constitutes as so called "fan service". That being said, I personally do not condemn fan service.

I would be very surprised and more than a little furious if Dan were queerbaiting, especially this consistently, this casually, and over this long a period of time - I don't think whatever viewing rise he might get would be worth it, or that he would think and remember to do it, frankly. I've had this conversation with a friend re: 2009/2010 too - they're just not that manipulative or flat out don't seem to have thought about it enough to create the whole charade. Though maybe we're wrong and they're secretly master Slytherins in disguise!

What if he's doing it for himself? Fans liking it (and lbr judging by some reactions, not all fans are liking it at. all.) is just incidental to him finally getting more comfortable with expressing himself the way he actually wants to. In addition to all of his male attraction mentions over the years in liveshows, he's also been talking more recently about being unhappy (unfulfilled/whatever) with his brand/persona and wanting to rebrand-- maybe finally expressing more of his liveshow-self on his main channel, his largest public platform, is him taking steps towards being who he wants to be, and how he wants to be perceived by the public at large. It doesn't have to have anything to do with coming out as [insert sexuality], but just finally being himself and now trying to merge that with dinof.

This is sticking out to me, especially after all the discussion about labels: which is it?
Can he honestly discuss being attracted to the same sex without first claiming a label (other than straight) in order to explain why saying those things is "okay"? Because people throwing out 'queerbaiting' and whatever kind of negates the 'labels are unnecessary/mean nothing' train of thought. It's only okay if he's part of the LGBT+ community? But not claiming identification with that community puts him in danger of dishonesty and fake-servicing for views? Does not compute... (Is drooling over Jennifer Lawrence fan-service too? She's so likeable after all, so #relatable amirite wait is straight-baiting a thing). I just don't think we can have it both ways. I've said this before, but I'll say it again: why can't it be as simple as he's just saying things that he means?
