I am so in love with the fact that they're one vlogger. That is just so beyond silly. But interesting, thought they just took a break with R1, this definitely suggests they're not under contract with them anymore.

This is interesting. I've just been looking up the terms and conditions for the nominations and this is what it is for the vlog category this year:
This category is for the most exciting Vlogger(s) (aka Video Blogger) male, female or collective.

A vlogger is an individual or collective who publish regular videos featuring themselves and based on their day-to-day life experience. Vlogging can include diaries, tutorials, stunts and sketches relating to subjects and pastimes, of personal interest to the individual/collective hosting the channel.
Video makers creating drama content, fiction or presenting majority commercially-sponsored videos are not eligible.

The nominated Vlogger(s) must have posted at least 11 video blogs to a single channel on the internet between1st September 2015 and 14th August 2016.
I'm guessing D&PGames would count as the 'single channel', and it just about works as 'day-to-day life experience'. And there's nothing here about not being employed by the BBC.

Last year's is quite different:
This category is for the most exciting young (under 25 on 1st September 2015) British Vlogger(s) (aka Video Blogger) male, female or collective. A vlogger is an individual or collective who publish regular videos featuring themselves and based on their day-to-day
life experience. Vlogging can include diaries, tutorials, stunts and sketches relating to subjects and pastimes, of personal interest to the individual/collective hosting the channel. Video makers creating drama content, fiction or presenting majority commercially-sponsored videos are not eligible. The nominated male/female/collective must be a British Citizen, or in the case of a collective, the majority of the group must be British Citizens and have posted at least 11 video blogs to a single channel on the internet. They cannot have a regular show on the BBC.
So Phil wouldn't have qualified last year for two reasons, and Dan for one.

I'm not going to try drawing any conclusions from this, but … interesting.

Very cute that they are one.
But if this means that they are not coming back to the radio, I'm going to be very sad.

I don't think they are gonna win as zoella and joe are gonna push their subs to vote and we know deppy . It's interesting and if the rules have changed maybe we can still hope for the return of deppy . . I think that it would be interesting to see if deppy talks about it,also just realized that I assumed that here what counts it's the votes from people.

I really want them to win though because they've never been nominated before because of the T&C. It is interesting how they omitted the age limit and the regular BBC thing, it makes me think they deliberately did it so they can nominate Deppy. Lol.

LOL, of course they have to change the rules :P . noone would qualify.
almost everyone is older than 25 this year. except joe (born september 8) and emma (november 1991). give emma the award asap

i dont think they would want to exclude the two most popular youtubers, zoella and pewdiepie
and for the "They cannot have a regular show on the BBC" part technically dont have a show anymore :wahh:

Can we get it so they present it again and also win it? Because that amount of silliness would entertain me greatly.

ok I said I wasn't going to draw conclusions but nvm

I think the age limit removal is more a sign of the increased professionalisation of vlogging. Certain people have made a career out of it and they're now the ones over 25. It's kind of sad though, because this award could be for someone newer on the scene. There's no shortage of quality British 'Citizen' (and they removed that from the t+cs too, hi Felix) YouTubers in the tens/hundreds of thousands of subscribers, and perhaps it would be nice to have a competition not dominated by the usual few for once.

As for having a regular show … I think having a contract for a regular show in the future could probably be construed as having a regular show, so … who knows. Having said that it'll end up being the Internet Takeover with principal presenter Emma Blackery back next month.

Agree with mez29 about it making sense to adjust the guidelines to include more 'popular' nominees (pewds, deppy) BUT I'm also going to be optimistic and think they at least partly wanted to nominate D&P (whether they win or not) to get them back in people's minds (like general teen BBC audience) to start hyping their glorious return to the airwaves

just let me have this

I genuinely hope this says nothing about their possible return. The radio is my favorite thing they do and easily one of their best connections. Can you tell I live vicariously through their success?

That said, this reminded me.... Remember when they talked about doing BBCR1 promo in a LS? I think a DJ even snapped it at one point, where they had go in to film a whole duo thing where they're walking toward the camera and like "fighting" over who gets to stand in front. Whatever it was, has anyone seen this promo? Has it been used?

You're not alone. This reasoning definitely crossed my mind as well and for now I'm holding on to it because the 2-hour long radio shows are still my favourite thing Deppy's ever done so I want to believe.

I literally just watched that liveshow before bed last night! It was one before Christmas last year where they're in their festive jumpers; it wasn't a promo though. Just a video that plays in the entrance of the radio building. Haha I still love Phil talking about how he tripped over wires in front of all the DJs while filming it and says "they all know how awkward we are anyway." How could the BBC possibly let them go? I will not accept.
Thanks and have a great day! Oil me

It was for a 3D display screen inside R1. Sooo.. presumably it got used?
They also spoke about having publicity/stock pics etc done at the beginning of this year... Seems daft for them to have that done knowing they only had 3/4 IT shows left at that point.
I'm still clinging to hopes that there's nothing but a music mix in the Monday 9pm slot. On a weekly basis.

I think it's fair that only UK citizens get to vote considering it's their public broadcasting service that they pay a lot of money for Got nothing to do with the BBC not getting how the internet works. Considering they won't even let me watch their Twitter videos of the Olympics, we're all real lucky that the BBC ever even agreed to making D&P's radio shows available worldwide :')

How funny would it be if even in the case someone else won the BBC would rig the poll in order to declare the winners and then have them announce their new show at the event as some kind of promo stunt? what if this actually happens
