From my understanding of a religious perspective (specific only to a Mennonite-raised friend I had growing up), the offensiveness inherent in a ouija board isn't out of respect for the dead lol, it's considered a thing to communicate with demons/evil spirits (I forget if those were just used as synonyms). I remember asking for more details and basically ghosts don't exist, dead people are either in heaven or hell, so if anything is talking through that board, it's not human (and apparently that's immediately evil I guess otherwise it'd be in heaven?).
Idk, her dad was hardcore, they were banned from participating in Halloween because that was also evil. For reasons. Her dad divorced her mom and married someone else he doesn't even currently live with and made weird scenes at both his daughters weddings in recent years. And my thoughts on all of that basically sum up my feelings on most Christian religion in general so
I'm here for Dan posting all the 'offensive' shit he likes, the more the merrier.
All of that to say: who gives a fuck where's the fucking Sims video already
Dan & Phil Part 28: Possibly very gay
I think it's interesting how people's opinions differ on the religion topic. It's easy to see how people's personal experiences and background shape thier worldview.
personally I don't think Dan put too much thought into his posts besides being #edgy and memey but also coming from a family that would totally disapprove of those posts I can also see how it might be a passive aggressive dig at his religious(?) past (??)

I somewhat believe in ghosts- I am very superstitious. On whether ouiija boards are offensive: I asked my religious mother, 'hey, can we use ouija boards'. The response was intense. TIL, people can be VERY offended by the idea of ouiija board.
when you first saw her-beauty, the dream- the human vortex of your life- or him - did you stop, and stand in the crisp air, breathing like a tree? did you change your life?

I will volunteer to do it for him, but I imagine that wouldn't make Dan very happy.IckleMissMayhem wrote: 99.9% sure he's tweeted that/something v. similar previously...
And yeah it does sound familiar.
Talk about religion? My time to shine from being brought up in a Roman Catholic household, whoop, whoop
My opinion on the reblogged photos: People who are religious, and freqent Dan's tumblr, will not find the photos offensive. Seriously. If they did, there are many MANY other things they would have found "offenisive" or "triggering" about Dan's content
To put it quite simply, Christian people who are offended by something as MILD as these photos don't use the internet for anything other than Christian blogs they would not stray from or for Facebook.
Regarding Ouji Boards: Now, I'm Agnostic, but one bit of advice I could give you about Ouji Boards is don't fuck with them. Just don't. Stay away. Don't. DON'T. No-no. I kind of want to slap Phil for even messing around with it, just no. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
In Catholicism there's no such thing as ghosts. When you die you go to whatever awaits you. The only good "spirits" as my grandmother puts it are saints who are holy n' shit and get to return to be holy n' shit. Anything that's speaking to you through a board game isn't human, it's a demon that's communicating to you pretending to be a person. Now, I don't believe in ghosts, I used to be religious but hate organised religion etc, etc, but whatever speaks to you through a ouji board just simply is not good, just don't

Yeah this is what I thought Phil meant when he said he didn't want to offend anyone too. I know a lot of Christians who won't let their kids read Harry Potter because it has to do with magic. Because the concept of ouija boards is talking to dead spirits it tends to be a no-no with a lot of religious people.fancybum wrote:From my understanding of a religious perspective (specific only to a Mennonite-raised friend I had growing up), the offensiveness inherent in a ouija board isn't out of respect for the dead lol, it's considered a thing to communicate with demons/evil spirits (I forget if those were just used as synonyms). I'm gonna speculate that Phil tweeted that from bed as Dan was doing exactly that. Next video idea: A Day in the Life of Dan and Phil in the Underworld.SquishPhan wrote:I will volunteer to do it for him, but I imagine that wouldn't make Dan very happy.IckleMissMayhem wrote: 99.9% sure he's tweeted that/something v. similar previously...

He murdered his childhood hero and is wearing the pelt as a trophy.

It's so cute that he still has the tonberry phil gave him
It's probably not "the best gift anyone has ever given" him anymore though cuz Phil has uped his gifts

yikes - so maybe not then. fair enough.
Looks like the howlter household is in a strange mood today. What did they mix with their coffee this morning??
Also: Tonberries ar not cute. Anyone who's played FF games knows they're sneaky little barstewards who bide their time, then fuck you the heck up in nanoseconds once they're in range.
And it's getting closer...
