Winterbury wrote: Sorry to assault you like this but I'm actually hoping to become a forensic psychologist and you're the first person I've "met" so far who wants to do the same!! I didn't know there was such a thing a taking "forensic psychology" at university(?) tho; all the universities I looked at just listed "normal" psychology as a course option. Can you tell me a bit about your courses?

Also, yes to both Anne Hathaway and Downton Abbey. Haven't watched it in ages tho because
of that one episode where Thomas thinks that new douchelord working for the Crawleys is into him. Idk, the second-hand embarrassment was too much for me to handle.
But it's a real shame, the show is amazing. I really have to get over myself and continue watching.
Hi! Of course! That's really cool, what a coincidence - it really is quite a rare career choice. Gonna put it under a spoiler because I can never keep it short, and I'll spare everyone from my essay.
Ugh, I understand your pain. Knowing exactly what you want to study and then finding out it's hard af to find.... blergh. I've never found a fast track program called "forensic psychology" that makes you fully qualified (which is a shame, you need to choose whether to major in law, criminology or psychology instead) but at least where I am, it's possible to take independent courses that specifically are about forensic psychology.

As I'm sure you know, it's a mix of psychology, psychiatry and law so the course starts off with the basics of psychology and the basics of different justice systems for the first few months. It moves on to the two main topics: witness psychology (what are witnesses' roles in an investigation, how do witnesses remember things, how should they be approached and how can their memories be manipulated etc), and profiling (what kind of person would do this kind of crime, does this suspect fit into the profile etc). It's super interesting, it really is. I've just finished witness psychology so I've got profiling left and I'm so god damn excited, I've been waiting since last year for that part of the course  This fall, I'll move on to F. Psych II, which deals more in depth with the mind and behaviour of the criminal, as well as what effects trauma and violence has on a victim and/or witness. Of course, different countries and different schools have different structures but I think that it's p much the same, anyway.

I study by distance at home because the course wasn't available in my city (also, ugh, classmates haha) and all the literature is in English, so if you can't find it in your country then I think you should be able to study by distance from Sweden (the link to the course is here: http://www.hkr.se/en/education/course-p ... PS1205). I'm not 100% sure how that works or if you need to know any Swedish to qualify but it might work, as a last resort. If you have any questions about anything or just want to chat then you can definitely just send me a PM!
/essay. i'm sorry.

hi all,
i've been lurking on gg since last september and never really felt like posting (mostly cause i feel i don't have anything special to add) but i really like the vibe on this forum a lot so here goes my first post:
-turning 30 this year
-female bisexual and open (though pretty bad at relationships); hello queer friends!
-only one friend knows about my d&p obsession and i would not really tell anyone about it, don't think they'd understand
-i feel like i connect with dan on a lot of levels but also very different on some levels, it's like he's the male version of me sometimes.
-had a dream that i had sex with dan last night (i dunno what to make of this with regards to my previous point  but ngl it was a nice dream )
-ISFJ and ravenclaw
-have never been in a fandom or a forum before but i remember reading fanfic of a band (i don't dare name  ) way back when i was like 14-15
-studied translation&interpreting and now doing a phd in (socio)linguistics; hello fellow linguists!
-moved to the netherlands for my studies about 5 years ago; hello fellow netherland-related ppl!
-feel slightly out of place cuz i'm not that nerdy (no obsessions with video games, manga/anime, star wars, harry potter, etc.) but i still feel connected to y'all!
also thanks for creating this space! i hope i can contribute a bit more because both dan&phil and you guys in the forum have been helping me a lot with issues in my personal life. :itsokay:

ps: it's gonna take me some time figuring out how to post/edit/actually have an avatar or a signature. soz in advance for all forum related gaffe's!
ugh.

this is such a good introduction thread

- i graduated from a private school
- i spend hours collecting, designing and organizing a blog containing all the pictures of two youtubers and classifying them in order to keep an actual online library of pictures of them.
- i have 4 twitter accounts and i use them all everyday.

haha, since my university was super christian and strict, all of our "special facts" on get-to-know-you days were incredibly lame, so this will be fun.

-i'm bisexual, and I'm realizing my attraction to men has dwindled a lot in the last two years but I'm afraid to identify as lesbian because I think it would hurt my relationship with my family even more.
-i have a genetic anxiety disorder that requires a diet based almost entirely on vegetables, but i really hate being vegetarian
-i wear unreasonable amounts of colorful lipsticks because it frightens my students and i enjoy striking fear into their heart

hello, all!

This was a nice idea. Hope I can introduce myself tho I've already posted a bit.

-my obsession with D&P is a dirty secret that I've not told a single person IRL (this seems to be common here)
-i'm a physics turned chemistry student
-the only phanfiction i have read in its entirety is the skin fic
-i'm a dwarf in a country of giants
-helena bonham carter (although nowadays more cate blanchett)
-cats

here are some other facts other than studying lingustics:

- My favourite animals are sheep
- I love movies and tv shows but I have a hard time getting used to something new (and get discouraged quite easy) so I usually rewatch everything I love on a regular basis
- My fav youtuber is Mamrie Hart and if I had one wish it would be being on YDAD or just getting really drunk with her (YDAD is the only Youtuber book I ever purchased. Yes, I didn't buy TABINOF. I know I'm not worhty. :wahh: )
- I've never been in a relationship. Either I'm madly in love with someone who doesn't like me back or I have a fling with a lame guy who I'm not particularly into
- although I'm phan af I sometimes spend my evenings reading Dan x reader fanfics and I'm quite embarassed about that, I also love those 'Dan imagines'

if you have any recommendations that are not already listed in the phanfic thread, i wouldn't say no to having a look at the Dan x reader ones you liked ;)

This a great thread for the scared lurkers like me :D
 • I am bisexual. I don't think I will come out anytime soon, got too much to lose.
 • I was scared to join at first, because you are all so smart and articulate. I can't even form a coherent sentence
 • Only one of my friends knows about my dan and phil obsession, and I really regret telling her. I can tell she's hardcore judging me.
 • I am kind of ashamed to admit this, but dan and phil are one of the main reasons I accepted myself as bi. I don't know many bi people and I love how they don't really fit the stereotypes. It made me realize that your sexual orientation really does not define you.

Yay you came out of lurking! Welcome
I think friends not knowing is pretty common round these parts, some of my friends know I watch youtubers but none of them know the degree of my obsession, I'm definitely not about to tell them that I was up past 1 last night looking for a weakest link episode from 2007

YES (to both).

I told two of my friends about my dark obsession…one of them really really wants to know now, which youtubers I'm stanning and always tries to guess (she's never even been remotely close). The other one doesn't care at all, so naturally, I told her everything about them.

i just realized i've already posted 3 times and haven't introduced myself :o i used to lurk on GG, but then found this place!! (way better tbh) anyways here are some irrelevant facts about me:
- i never had an scene phase, but i did have a justin bieber phase. pretty sure they're both equally as bad
- i lurk more than i post [shifty eye emoji]
- vegetables are disgusting and i have no idea how people genuinely like them
- i'm a college student who still has no idea what they want to do in life

Hey guys!

- I'm female-to-male transgender
- I catfished as a preteen and killed myself off dramatically when things got too serious (signing on as their "mom" or "sister" telling them what happened. very telenovella)
- I genuinely believe in fairies.
In the end we're all just humans, aren't we?

^^ Hello you aswell, asher

Great to have some trans representation here (might bring out some lurkers)
Tho lurkers needn't be scared because as your signature says
"In the end we're all just humans, aren't we?"

But who the fuck am I kidding? I'm mostly just the rotting banana peel at the bottom of the phan trash can who genuinely gets excited over the thought of them snuggling in bed. Idgaf let a bitch live

Hi littlephan I was going to say welcome and glad your here, but mermaid blood already did such a lovely job! So I'll just say that I hope your friend comes around and decides to go down the rabbit hole with you rather than judging you. Of course, it's a vortex you can never really escape from so . . .

And hi to you too asher! Glad you're here

Hi all! I'm so so happy to have found this forum! I had lurked on the GG thread since around last June and had only made 1 post I think. It seems like this forum has a really nice environment to it, so I think I might try to actually participate in discussion on here from time to time! :D
I don't really have any interesting facts to share about myself, but here goes....

-I'm 22 and have been studying fashion merchandising at college. I'm graduating next month, so yay for that!
-I've been watching Dan and Phil since last summer and don't know anyone who likes them IRL. My friend agreed to go with me to TATINOF in Boston and he knows absolutely nothing about them, so that should be an interesting experience!
-My current tv obsession is The People vs OJ Simpson and I tell everyone I know that they need to watch it.

Well, now I guess I'll spend the rest of my evening trying to catch up with the main threads!
