I would laugh and cry if he took his twitch off followers only mode by mistake :') and there's all this speculation for nothing. Ah well, only time will tell.
lmao i think this is exactly what's happening and peeps are already either crying of excitement at the idea of twitch streams, crying over the "replacement of dapg" or being annoyed at itBecky.rigby wrote: Mon Jan 13, 2020 4:34 pm I would laugh and cry if he took his twitch off followers only mode by mistake :') and there's all this speculation for nothing. If I've learnt anything from clowning myself that one time when we thought Dan's website had changed it's that I should be cautious like you, lol. So I think it was a mistake too. If it wasn't, good for us, but I'd rather not get excited too soon.liola wrote: Mon Jan 13, 2020 4:54 pmlmao i think this is exactly what's happening and peeps are already either crying of excitement at the idea of twitch streams, crying over the "replacement of dapg" or being annoyed at itBecky.rigby wrote: Mon Jan 13, 2020 4:34 pm I would laugh and cry if he took his twitch off followers only mode by mistake :') and there's all this speculation for nothing. I think he said it was because he kept having to look down at his laptop to see the chat, so he raised the laptop so he didn’t have to do that and we could see him better, and he could see the chat more clearly.Amiaw wrote: Mon Jan 13, 2020 5:44 pm Did Phil give an explanation for changing his set up yesterday? He said he had his laptop balancing on board games but I didn’t catch why he moved things around.

My goal for 2020 is to live a life without any clown make up on. I want my skin to breathe. So I am looking at that twitch stuff and I am like
I'm a winter flower underground, always thirsty for summer rain.
I, too, am in the camp that this probably means nothing, but, just for fun, let's not forget about ATF's website change from last year:

Omg, a ‘very Dan’ gaming event? I can only imagine.

I will also refrain from clowning myself, but I will say that Dan hosting live gaming would not be a stretch at all. So that does bring up a question I've wondered for a while -- I am not a gamer of any sort, but does any one have a sense for how "good" Dan and also Phil are at gaming? Like, could either of them be competitive in esports?
It could be related to this but I get the sense that the live gaming competitions are an ATF thing so Dan might be involved but I don’t think he’d be responsible for the bts stuff so that still makes me wonder what he’s been up to

In a word, no, I doubt it. Dan is fairly good, he raids in Guild Wars 2 and that involves ‘knowing your rotations’ (the skills you’re going to use and in the right order) and knowing what each raid dungeon and enemies are like, they sound like military operations, I’ve never come close to trying them, but pro gamers are training daily, very fast in the fingers and tend to be really young. Having said that, maybe in a more casual competition, sure, but not the high stakes kind. Phil can finish a game while I’m lucky to make it alive to level 2, but he’s certainly always seemed less good than Dan on the channel.

I don't think so. Like, they have different skillsets and they're both pretty good I think (they were solidly beating most people in their online matches of Mario Kart, and Dan was pretty great at the Sans boss fight which is h a r d), but they'd be annihilated by actual professional e-sports gamers (unless Dan's been using all this time to intensely train at professional PUBG or something lmao). Plus, and I mean this in the nicest possible way, they're a bit old to be pro gamers; most of them are teenagers, early 20s at the latest. Sorry for destroying your MLG dreams, ladsMegancita75 wrote: Mon Jan 13, 2020 9:42 pm I will also refrain from clowning myself, but I will say that Dan hosting live gaming would not be a stretch at all. Edit: Yep, as above! Oops, posted at the same time

No, not at all. I think that kind of stressful gaming would take all the joy out of it for the both of them and in general the kind of games they seem to prefer are not involved in the e-sports (well maybe Smash excluded, and COD/Halo but I always got the sense they played that more in passing). My brother is very very much into LOL and participates in a few local competitions and I can't even being to understand the level required for e-sports.Megancita75 wrote: Mon Jan 13, 2020 9:42 pm I will also refrain from clowning myself, but I will say that Dan hosting live gaming would not be a stretch at all. I don't think age has much to do with it tbh, I just don't think they're skilled enough, but really, not many are sadly

Wow, that’s an interesting side arm I didn’t expect. Would Dan consider training a team? I kinda hope that wouldn’t be his exciting project tbh cos what do we do with that except cheer him on? Too soon to tell, too random to actually have a clue, could be absolutely nothing to do with him. Interesting move for ATF, though.
If you ask me, Phil’s most recent liveshow kicks off a brand new year of video content right! Here are my highlights:
- [0:11] Phil has changed his setup a bit. He is now balancing his laptop on top of a stack of five board games. In his previous liveshows, he felt he was looking down at his laptop to read the chat too much, so he’s now looking up but to the side with his new setup.
- [3:43] Phil discusses the rules for Christmas gift giving in his family. They try to stick to spending ~£30 on each other, and it’s best if the presents are food-related. Phil then shows some of the Christmas presents he got this year: a box of Marks & Spencer Belgian truffles, a Marks & Spencer salted caramel scented reed diffuser from his parents (he thinks), a Japanese PlayStation wallet from Dan, and the board game Wingspan.
- [8:40] Phil didn’t go out into London to watch the fireworks on New Year’s because you can see on TV that the people that do are packed together like sardines, and he doesn’t like being around so many people all at the same time. Instead, he played games with friends, and he was in bed by about 3am. Conversely, Martyn was out DJing starting at 3am.
- [9:54] The room Phil is in has been stinking of mint for a while, and Phil finally realized that the cause was a mint candle he had left open under the desk in the room.

- [11:42] Phil thinks collecting vinyl records must be addicting. Apparently, in Martyn’s house, he has an entire wall covered in vinyl records.
- [12:03] Phil’s mom made four kinds of “cake” for Christmas: Auntie Trudy’s bake (Cadbury Flake mixed with vanilla sponge), a ginger cake, homemade mince pie, and scones.
- [13:04] Phil recounts the story from the tweets below. Much to his pleasure/dismay, he finally got a man in a kilt in his apartment (to take away his Christmas tree) for the Christmas season!
In a previous year, Phil didn’t order this tree collection service, and it sounds like he and Dan struggled to get the tree through the “tiny corridors of this apartment block.” I like to think it looked something like the scene from Friends where they try to get a couch up a flight of stairs.
- [14:43] In case you didn't know, Phil is gay.
P: “Watch Black Sails! Gay pirates!” said denaysushi. Maybe I should. I love a good gay pirate. - [16:16] Phil shows us Norman Cam. As far as I can recall, this clip gives us the best views we’ve gotten of Norman’s entire tank.
- [19:15] Phil once accidentally put Sudocrem on his toothbrush because he wasn’t wearing his glasses, and the Sudocrem tube was similar to the toothpaste tube.
- [20:21] Screen Time reports that Phil has spent 3 hours and 2 minutes on his phone today.
- [24:08] NEWS STORY OF THE WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK: A pet tortoise knocked over its heat lamp, which set fire to its blanket, which set fire to the rest of the house. Thankfully, the tortoise and everyone inside was okay, and the house didn’t burn down.
- [26:38] Phil continues to be intrigued by animal sex. Apparently, there is “one randy little tortoise” that has “a super high sex drive” that has basically saved a species of Galapagos tortoise due to the number of offspring he has fathered.
- [27:09] In case you ever wonder about the reasons why Phil might be late to a liveshow, Phil was two minutes late to this liveshow because he was trying to fix his quiff so that it “wasn’t going through the green screen” because it was making him look bald.
- [27:55] Phil talks about his visit to OTHERWORLD, a bar where you play VR games. The visit was a Christmas gift from Martyn and Cornelia to Dan and Phil. To try to prevent the motion sickness he gets from playing VR games, Phil took some motion sickness tablets, and they worked for him.
- [32:00] Phil talks about going to the London premiere of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. He wore a cool suit, and he was looking forward to taking a nice photo for Instagram. However, he was flustered by a “torrential downpour” that happened right as he got out of the car, and the photo didn’t end up happening.
- [36:48] Phil is filming his next video “next week,” and it may be out as soon as “next week,” depending on which day he ends up filming it.

Guild Wars 2 will soon be (or already is, not sure) implementing a 15-player game style, so I wonder if he could be preparing for that? Like, maybe not even in a public stream sense (maybe just a way to organize a larger group of people other than Discord). It would be cool if the devs of GW2 could tap him to showcase newer content though!flarequake wrote: Mon Jan 13, 2020 11:46 pm Wow, that’s an interesting side arm I didn’t expect. I find it hard to believe that the new project involves that live gaming thing mostly because could that even be considered a “project”? And if so, how would that affect us in any way?

I watched a clip of Dan and a bunch of other GW2 characters in battle once and had absolutely no idea what was going on. No idea if they were winning or losing, good or bad... You really have to know those games to appreciate them. It's not like watching someone play Apex Legends or Fortnite.
Regardless, what communication we have seen from Dan over the last year or so he's been referring to himself as a comedian. DAPG isn't even mentioned on his ATF profile. Gaming doesn't seem like the direction he was aiming for. He's also a mystery, so who knows.

Yeah, watching GW2 is just a mush of brightly coloured light with a bunch of frenetic characters underneath as they all fire their spells, no idea what’s actually happening.
It's not something I would normally mention here but if you haven't checked out nikkietutorials coming out video I'd really recommend it.
While her hand being forced by people trying to out her is awful, I'm glad she addressed it because I'm sure so many people in the public eye face the same situation and it made me think about some of the youtubers who would hint about Dan and Phil and how hard it must be to know who you can trust and let in,
I really took away from it how different things are though when you have a really supportive and accepting family from a young age.

I was going to recommend Rise of the Supergamer, but it’s no long on Netflix or AmazonPrime. However Oscars Hotel is on Prime and Eurovision 2019 is now on Netflix! It’s my first time experiencing it and wow. I will have to check out Bo Burnham, I knew the name but nothing else.
I really hope her video will get the same media coverage Dan's did, just for the message that forced outings are horrible. Loads of straight, cis people don't realise that at all. Blackmailing is the extreme of course but the amount of friends I have who were outed by wellmeaning family members and friends, damn. And yes, you're right about the Youtubers hinting at Dan and Phil back then. They were very lucky (or maybe just smart) that they got to choose when to come out without too many people trying to out them against their will.Phanshy wrote: Tue Jan 14, 2020 11:52 am It's not something I would normally mention here but if you haven't checked out nikkietutorials coming out video I'd really recommend it.

I still wonder if people like Emma Blackery actually knew or just suspected. The stunts that crowd pulled were bad enough but if they actually knew or had good reasons to think they knew the truth it's a whole different level of awful. Maybe it's good we'll never know for sure though. I'm not one for bringing old drama back but at the same time, I don't even want to know what it must've felt like having other Youtubers speculate, gossip and even joke about your sexuality (like Shane did for example) when you're not ready to come out.
Right, I'm going to watch the liveshow now. YouNow never works for me so I'm dependent on his uploads.
