That was such a fun video! I'm loving how Phil is just fully testing how far he can push the clickbait titles. The game seemed quite fun and most importantly, they seemed to have fun.

Dan did an interview with Gay Times.
It's fine, but Dan describing himself as a 'teenager that was just posting little comedy videos in my bedroom' made me fully roll my eyes into the back of my head. He might not have had a whole career in mind when he started YouTube, but he did aim for a certain social status that came with befriending YouTubers and becoming one of them. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, but it makes calling it an 'accident' basically a lie imo. Come on Dan, I thought we were done with revisionist history.

The Gay Times article was really nice! And he seemed to completely charm the writer which is always fun
In other news, Ryann from IRL basically confirmed on reddit that they will put the mixtape online at some point, which makes me really happy because I'm a big fan.
My take is that he's going for the "no one knew you could make an actual career out of this in 2009" angle. He definitely wanted to be friends with the cool kids but none of them were making much profits yet so I think that's where he's coming from. Anyone starting in the years after him could have that goal, but he was just on the cusp of that being a thing at all.Catallena wrote: Fri Nov 11, 2022 8:32 pm It's fine, but Dan describing himself as a 'teenager that was just posting little comedy videos in my bedroom' made me fully roll my eyes into the back of my head. Yeah I get that, I did say that too. But that doesn't make it a 'horrible accident for 13 years' imokavat wrote: Sat Nov 12, 2022 11:03 amMy take is that he's going for the "no one knew you could make an actual career out of this in 2009" angle. Even if it wasn't a career or monetary goal, status counts for a lot in Dan's story. I don't think he would've started making videos if it weren't for that, just like how most Creators nowadays wouldn't have started if it weren't for the money. And all the choices he has made since in the rest of those 13 years to build his career were definitely not accidents either, even if not all of them turned out well. Hell, some of the choices he's making right now seem to once again be about gaining a social status among the kind of people he looks up to now.
I know YouTube is tainted for him, and obviously I don't mind him expressing that after how they treated him. And of course the YouTube fame came with some pretty bad consequences too, we all know that. But this specific new 'accident' angle just bothers me. Going by this interview he'd still rather delete everything he has made over 6 months old, but since he can't really get away with that he'll just distance himself this way instead. I don't think that's any better, nor do I think it's very 'authentic' if that is what this current Dan era is going for. Or maybe he's just letting the Dystopia Daily persona leak into an interview to be entertaining, which is less bad but still annoying lol.
I also totally get if people think I'm doing too much though, 'cause yeah I probably am. But I stand behind my eyeroll.

So my show was last night. I met him for the second time (first time was II).
He was wearing the smiley jumper and I think some thin lounge pants. He had his arms out when I came around the corner, so we hugged. Then I told him I saw the show in Indianapolis. He asked what I thought and I said, “I agree with Phil; it’s fucking amazing!” I think he said thank you. He asked if I knew John Green was at the Indianapolis show. I said I didn’t know until afterward and I should have been looking around for him at the show. He said, “Maybe I shouldn’t have said the joke about him. “ Then he asked if I wanted him to sign anything and I said, “I couldn’t decide what to have you sign, so I didn’t bring anything.” He said, “Relatable.” He took the selfie and I said, “Don’t wait for me to look good, because I won’t.” He said, “Look at us! We’re cute! I hope you enjoy the show tonight again.” And we hugged again and I said thanks.
I was very happy with how it went, but then I remembered I forgot to tell him how proud I was of him and how far he has come.

That was one of the first things he did without Phil.

Dan ripped his jumpsuit at his most recent show... nearly had a heart attack thinking it was the $1700 one with the zips but apparently it's a cheaper version. I know they had multiple versions of their II outfit, I'm guessing he has multiple jumpsuits, too? It would be fun to see another mid show outfit mixup though.

I was able to go to 2 shows and got to see 2 different jumpsuits. The expensive one is much nicer. I think he has at least 2 different types of boots. I prefer the ones he wore with the expensive suit. They are more platformed.alittledizzy wrote: Mon Nov 14, 2022 4:26 pm Dan ripped his jumpsuit at his most recent show... nearly had a heart attack thinking it was the $1700 one with the zips but apparently it's a cheaper version. Dan instagram live in a couple of hours!! It's titled the last ig live... so I wonder if he's gonna move to youtube or back to younow for them? Or even maybe, gasp, Twitch? (Ok probably not twitch since they seem to have something against streaming there.)

What a wonderful live stream! Since meeting him last weekend I’ve gone back and watched his old and new content and I’m really just so happy with the state of things. I wish there were more people commenting here like the old days. I’m in the mood to gush over both of them, but it feels rather deserted here. Those last couple minutes of this live especially warmed my heart! He’s taking meetings in LA about his scripted show and he’s having the time of his life on this tour! So happy for him and myself!

I’m still kind of in awe of how much content we’re getting nowadays. Daily social media posts, the DD videos, a live show with more confirmed?! It’s so nice to see Dan out there living his best life and looking so genuinely happy. This tour is doing great things for him and here’s hoping he can end the US leg on a high with the DINOK meetings!
I’m super happy now that Phil is back to posting videos again too. His videos with PJ were delightful, even if he was very much just giving PJ all the points in that DMs game
I also weirdly loved the smash or pass video, even though those kinds of videos aren’t usually my thing.
Also, I don’t think I’ve seen it mentioned here yet, someone told me that in a VIP q&a Dan said that the viewers pick my outfit video has been filmed and will be posted on Dan’s channel. Great news to hear that they were actually able to film it before he left, some worries about it being on Dan’s channel. That makes me think it might be a DD segment and it would most likely have a very different vibe if it was filmed in front of a crew. There’s still a chance that maybe it’ll be a separate video or they’ll have filmed it at home and then edit the clips into a DD ep. I’m holding out hope for one of those options!

I really loved the liveshow!! Such good vibes. He was in a good mood and sharing anecdotes, like how he went to dinner at John Green's house and had brussels sprout quesadillas, how cute is that. I'm glad there were no guests in this one, it was a lot better this way.
I don't understand why he has to move from IG live but I guess it is his life mission to try every live streaming app there is. Maybe he'll pop up on facebook live before we know it.

LMAO what on earth???
Dan coming through with the taste in his insta stories between Polyphia last week and Brockhampton this week. When I met him in Toronto, we talked about both of these albums and I told him I wanted reviews when they came out. I'm sure he would have posted about them regardless, but I feel seen lol
I also brought up that we meet every 4 years, since I met him and Phil at Playlist in 2014 and II in 2018, and he was like "I guess I'll have to tour again in 4 years." Tour seems to treat all of us well, so I'm hoping this comes true too!
