Ohh wow, I am way too emotional about this! Procrastinating on exams with D&P vids and TATINOF clips/audio yesterday left me overly emotional about them, I was not prepared for this to be almost the first thing I saw after waking up! Dan looks especially gorgeous, and the Comic Sans/Papyrus thing is hilarious too Agree that the Comic Sans/Papyrus thing being in parenthesis on instagram makes it seem like the additional reference, I definitely didn't notice that at first.

Anyway! I loved the Thomas Sanders video. I'm a tall person myself so I found it so hilarious. But you guys are right. Dan looks as tall as Leo in that video and yet Phil looks short! I'd say it's just the angle because I doubt Dan is as tall as Leo? Although more prove that Phil is shorter than Dan.

so how tall is Leo? sorry, i'm mildly obsessed with the height thing.

i didn't realise Dan had edited his comment on the signs. what is most interesting to me is, whether he got the references immediately or not, he was bothered enough at the idea of his fans thinking he didn't get the Pinof one in particular that he altered his words to clear it up. this can be compared to instances where both of them could have over other things, but didn't...

I missed the bus discussion but it's good to see people thinking about their morals and boundaries. it's a tricky area with a lot of grey, but any discussion is great to see.

loving the detailed reviews in the special Tabinof section. such a great idea. and thanks to those sitting down to write them! i'd love to know how they themselves are feeling about the shows and meet & greets so far. a surface impression i get is that they're more confident than UK?

realistically, why would you remember such a minor comment you made 7 years ago? pinof for them is going to be more memorable for what it was, not for a gifable moment. we have less to remember since we only watched a short, edited video, their memories of filming it and that general day are going to be different, and far more important than a single, sarcastic line.

this was my thought too. it's one of those quotes the phandom loves but the recognition comes from rewatching videos and remixes and tumblr posts over and over so he probably just didn't notice it right away (since it is also a pretty generic line out of context).

If it hadn't become such a thing in the phandom I would not have been surprised if they hadn't recognised it at all, because of the reasons you guys are saying. But knowing how much they stalk their fans on tumblr and twitter and how 'in' they are with the phandom jokes, I think they probably did recognise the PINOF reference when they saw it and it was the Undertale reference Dan didn't get straight away.

Anyway, I think should own that phrase and be proud of it; to me its not even romantic but it was the start of the great bond which should be treasured.

I can really count on you to pull me back to reality whenever I start to fangirl and float away. I agree with you. This quote might even mean nothing to them. BUT they feel compelled to like it TOO because the viewers are so invested on it. For sure, they've seen the gifs. But since there was no meaning on their part, they didn't notice it immediately. And when they saw the reaction of the people, Dan changed the caption to include the two references. (am I being harsh?) Just like your previous post about Dan's music taste. He definitely has other favorite bands but the fans are more invested on him liking Muse because it's 's band. (I hope I made the connection.)

I mean, is it even a question? They knew what "this was the most fun we've ever had" meant. They had to have. They know their iconic phrases. Just crack open your TABINOF, it's all over the collages, and I'm pretty sure Mr. & Mr. Control Freak wouldn't put anything they didn't know the meaning of in. Also, why would Dan almost cry (or so are people reporting) otherwise?

!!!!! Tatinof was so INCREDIBLE!!!! Dan and Phil were so sweet I started crying in front of them!!! As soon as I walked up, before I said anything at all, Phil went “HI!!!!” And went in to hug me!!!! And I was like wow this is real life I’m hugging Phil! And then I hugged Dan and he went “Wow you smell nice” And I was like THANKS IT’S CALVIN KLEIN COLOGNE!!!! And then immediately Dan noticed my pin and went “Wow I love your pin dude! Everyone should have a pronoun button!” And he told me he liked my flower crown and Phil said I love you to me as soon as I told them about how happy their videos make me and that I love them and I cried Phil loves me and sees me as the BOY I am!!!!

There is no way they don't get the PINOF reference immediately and I think they are not bothered as they posted it.

I'm taking the stand he was answering to the multiple references, as to not make it as if Dan spoilt the whole euphoria

I lied, I do have one thing to add: the way Dan wrote 'even written in Comic Sans and Papyrus' in parenthesis at the end of his caption indicates to me that he thought that was an extra reference, not the actual main one.

I don't think the "even" necessarily indicates him realizing that there were multiple references but rather him thinking that the fan project itself was nice and it was great that they even (additionally) made a reference. The fact that he mentioned Comic Sans and Papyrus shows he got the Undertale reference and I don't understand why he would make a Facebook post "oh there is another reference" if he had gotten the PINOF reference immediately.
