Heya!

This is kind of my first post here, so I'm quite nervous, but I've been reading IDB for quite a while and thought I'd delurk a bit to post? You guys really are the best! All of these discussions have been so intriguing and I've loved hearing about everyone's opinions on Dan and Phil! (*´꒳`*) The polite discussion and civil disagreement is so nice to read, and I end up learning a lot from the discourse. I've learned a lot about things like the importance of privacy, feminism, politics, gender and sexuality and other miscellaneous things about society that I honestly did not have exposure to before IDB, so that was really cool. So I owe it to IDB that I've now decided to educate myself on these things and stop spending my time playing video games and looking at memes. (〃ω〃) So I guess I've got you guys to thank for helping me become a more mature person? In fact, IDB actually makes my day sometimes and I've really started to look forwards to seeing what you guys have to say.

Needless to say, IDB has made me a hardcore fan of Dan and Phil, and IDB as well? To be honest, I'm so glad I found this place because Reddit can be hard to read sometimes. Not that reddit is bad or anything! Things get quite aggressive there sometimes haha. m(._.)m

Also, about Dan's video (I know it was a few pages ago and I'm so late, but I wanna chime in anyway), I quite liked it! Not my favourite, but definitely appreciated something other than his usual stuff. I'm excited about the rebrand! ٩( 'ω' )و I didn't like the pacing and structure of it though, as some of you guys mentioned from before, and the scripting reminded me especially of my first long English research essay this past term (those ten pages killed me) which earned a C. *and also earned my English teacher telling me I'd probably never get a 5 on the EngLit AP so...* Therefore, my reason for disliking it may simply be placed on bad school memories ( YES summer!).

Anyway, sorry about the super long post! I don't even know what I was saying really, (=´∀｀) but I hope you have an awesome day and everything!

Hello everyone, new one here too! Like a lot of people, I've been lurking for a few weeks now and I'm finally ready to get involved in your madness ahah!
So prepare for the unnecessary long post with a poor level in English (it saddens me to say that although I understand almost everything in English (books, movies, etc), I still struggle to speak fluently and make terrible mistakes ).

So, I was a huge fan of D&P from 2012 to 2014 until I stopped watching them regularly (I was entering university and stepped back a bit from youtube). I don't know how I ended up getting back to it (about 3 months ago) but now I'm deep, deep in it. I discovered the gaming channel + TATINOF + TABINOF + DAGO... lots of material from the last two years!
I also just found out about all the shipping and phandom. You could say I was just a casual fan before. So I don't know yet how I feel about them being in a relationship but I love reading the conspiracies and theories about it!

I'm so glad I found this forum because it's soooo calm and articulate and respectful and nice. I've never been a fangirl/twitter/tumblr kind of girl (not that there is anything wrong with any of those things, it's just not my style), so I'm really glad to be able to follow people with a similar interest in a very respectful and calm manner.

I'm just quickly gonna sum up my thoughts on a few subjects that were discussed recently.
- About collabs: I love Tyler and Louise collabs (like almost everybody it seems).
- About the gaming channel: since I just found out about it, I had some fun watching a lot of the videos, mostly the recent ones. I LOVED the Undertale series and I find the Sims very relaxing. I haven't dig in the earlier stuff yet (2014-2015).
- About Phil's video: I found it very funny, I loved how Phil reacted to it and dealt with the spon. Even though it was a very random spon for AmazingPhil imo.
- About Dan's video: I really liked it, but I totally understand all the reactions around it. But I've never really been into memes or reddit myself (I used to go on 9GAG a lot a few years ago but I stopped when I realized how sexist it was). I'm really looking forward to see how he deals with the rebrand!

I have a few pointless remarks while it's calm inhere:
I have no idea if it has already been discussed in the forum before because I wasn't here when it came out, but I listened to the audiobook of TATINOF last week and I spotted some minor differences with the book itself. Some differences were logic, like to make it more fluid while talking, but there are two that I found a bit weird:
- At one point, but I can't remember the page I'm sorry, Phil changes “while my mum was cleaning up the mess” to “while my mum was asking me to clean up the mess”, or something along those lines. It's funny he changed it but I like the fact that he did. What do you think?
- In “the Urge”, Dan changes “the bed” to “his bed”. Like it's Dan's bed you know, leaving no confusion about it. Cute.

I totally forgot to mention collabs! My favourites are always Dan's collabs with Tyler, never fail to make me laugh. I really like Dan's collabs with Phil too, the two make some great stuff together. ♪( ´▽｀)

I'm putting some stuff under spoilers because it's long and pointless. And frankly, I shouldn't be criticising Dan's concision in his videos because my writing has more all-over-the-place-ness than his. (≧∀≦)

Also, anyone here sad that Dan tossed the maltesers in his rebranding? I feel like no one can understand my love for them anymore (and my despair at their absence in America and NO, whoppers just aren't the same).

I'm wondering when the next gaming vid will be out. Phil said they haven't filmed the Sims yet yesterday, so my bet is some filming today? They'll have to film a lot of vids over the next few weeks to post vids whilst they're at vidcon.

Are there any games y'all want them to play in particular (in case they're lurking). I'm always up for more story-based games (or The Stanley Parable, it's hilarious and meta - I have a feeling they'd love it).

Honestly I think the bolded line is exactly what I want Dan to take from the feedback to this style of video; obviously it's never going to happen that everyone feels the same way but this is the most consistent response I'm seeing. People support the change of direction, just not how Dan executed it this time.

Omg, good catches! I've listened to the audiobook two or three times through but I've only read the actual book once so I totally missed those. That's hilarious - especially the Dan/bed one. I do remember grinning a bit at it being 'the bed' when I read the story the first time around.

They are also available at Target. We bought a bucket, loved them and want more. (I've never liked Whoppers). Good to know about Walgreens, there weren't any at our local CVS. I understand putting that stuff behind him, but I am sad he wasn't part of for the ad campaign for the US. When a shortened version of this popped up as an ad on YouTube I was bitter.

First of all

to Hal and Awesomesauceness! Hope you have a good time here.

Second, has anyone else got their Manchester t-shirt from the dan and phil shop? Mine came today in a really obscure package and had no label/receipt from IRL Digital or anything about the shop at all. I was so confused when it arrived (Also I got a large and it's super super big, like...a tent. I'm wearing it to bed so it's fine, but it's more like XL than L haha)

Phil's liveshow was cute, love how he asks why people want him to 'clean them' but laughs every time a 'dad' or 'daddy' mention comes up. Mhm. I see you Phil. (It could also be due to embarrassment but I'm amusing myself thinking it's otherwise.)

Last sims vid was a bit boring but I love that Dil is pregnant. Like fuck, that's an extra human they need to look after now, they'll have to extend the house, make it a room, all while keeping the other 3 alive. I pray for them, but also pray they can't handle it, because I apparently want to see them angry/frustrated. For once.

And it makes me sick!
I was also referring to the reactions after terrorist attacks, as we've had quite a few in France since 2015. And I really hope that the (new) UK government doesn't make the same mistakes as the French one did back then. Because we are still suffering from these bad political decisions and it has devised the country even more than before.
I think yesterday's legislative elections (to elect the members of the National Assembly, almost like in Britain a few weeks ago) is a good example of how the people are sick of politics right now: 57% of the population didn't vote yesterday! It's a record in French history and even old folks are starting to get sick of it. That's why UK elections made me so so happy: seeing young people turning up to vote and having left-wing ideas being represented rejoiced me more than you can imagine!

It must be hard having to deal with what you're talking about, I hope you're managing it okay!!
And you're right, shout out to D&P for raising money for charity!

I have no idea about what game they could play since I'm more of a casual gamer myself. But I agree with the story-based games, I like watching there reaction when they discover a story, and discovering it with them (as with Undertale).

Sorry to ask because it may be written somewhere and I haven't seen it: is there usually a particular schedule to DAPG uploading? Like one or two a week on a specific day? Or is it just a surprise everytime?

I Maltesers so much. I didn't know you didn't have them in the US, how did you survive before?! I guess we're lucky to have them in France then, though they're quite expensive.

If you have access to a sewing machine it's actually really easy to alter the shirt to fit you! I've done it to a few of mine and I am truely no expert on tailoring - just look up youtube tutorials if you wanna tackle it.[/offtopic]

I got notice that mine shipped on Friday, but it's coming over seas. I was worried I ordered a size too large and now I'm really worried. Oh well, I intended it for curling up on the couch.

Basically a surprise every time! But when they were away in Australia and Singapore they uploaded a vid every time there should have been a liveshow, so I'm thinking they might stick to that pattern when they leave for 'Murica.

I adored Undertale, I already knew about it because my friend liked it and I had to buy her a lil Sans thing for her birthday in addition to some arty stuff, but seriously that game was amazing imo. I actually waited for dnp to finish it (an entire year ffs) whilst I could've watched another letsplay sigh. Despite that, I think because they're posting more frequently they could do a series without it lasting a YEAR

Malteasers are p good, I always eat the chocolate from around the outside then suck on the centre. I've never tried whoppers, are they really not good? Are there any American sweets y'all would rec?

Also PLEASE can some cooler weather come. I went prom dress shopping today and passed out 3 times in Debenhams, ended up bashing my head on a lil shelf and the first aid had to help me whilst I was just in my bra and underwear... incredibly embarassing

Poor Dan, this heat is pretty awful. I barely got a thing done before 7pm yesterday, but today with a fan going it's been a lot better, it's slightly cooler I think. I don't suppose Dan ever found a good way to keep cool beyond the air conditioning, all the icecubes down the pants didn't really help.

there are so many idb-ers that have english as a second (or third or subsequent) language so you are in good company here. as a mono-lingual english speaker i'm delighted and grateful that so many people push out of their comfort zone to come talk about tweedle-dum and tweedle-dork with us, and i think i speak for the majority (if not all) of the native speakers when i say we would rather hear what you have to say than not.

ps. besides your english is really good, don't worry. your post was better articulated than many things i've seen on the internet written by native speakers.

It's really interesting because it points out of few "behind the scene" stuff, like how brand deals work and how D&P were (not) involved in the process. Would love to see Reject 2 or another sketch with Dan be done one day, because I love TomSka's humour so much!

Though he doesn't come out and say it, this actually does make me wonder if Tinder rejected it on grounds that it was too m/m focused. I mean, a Dancest orgy seems pretty specifically humor based, but if it was Phil that Dan was meant to be going on the date with... or even if that was open ended and just an implication...

Has Tinder done any promo like this with any lgbtq youtubers?

I highly doubt the script would've been rejected because of homosexual content... I don't think homophobia or heteronormatovity are part of tinder "values" (I've never used it, but I believe you can choose what gender you're attracted to). It has most likely been rejected because of borderline jokes or a too sexual content as other have said before.

However you make a very good point asking that question because I can't think of a single LGBTQ+ youtuber who has done this spon, and there has been a lot lately. Maybe they were contacted but weren't interested?

8:53 - Dan abandoned Phil to deal with the centipede. Launched it out of the window.

16:19 - Thinks you have to look at something before you name it. His dad wasn't named for two weeks after he was born.
16:38 - The baby coming out of his mouth doesn't sound pleasant but is better than the alternative. No assbabies for Phil.
16:56 - Dan's birthday. Phil had the fidget spinner - was he just playing with it the whole time?
17:17 - "It was no two pound friend present. It was like six pounds. That's how much Dan is worth."
17:33 - He made Dan watch him balance it on his nose. Omg that's adorable.

18:53 - Had to go to the eye hospital when he had that contact lens thing.
19:21 - Chucked the centipede out the window. Didn't want to kill it, doesn't like killing animals.

thanks dizzy for doing these so often; it probably is quite a bit of work but I enjoy reading them back so much. you always kind of comment and it always makes me chuckle and smile and think.

I am so very here for joking about their friendship like this. Seriously though, I feel like this is something that's changed recently - they're much more comfortable making fun of each other. They joke that they hate each other, they hit each other playfully in videos, roll their eyes at each other's behaviour, and I don't really think I've noticed that as much before.
For me personally, I only act like this with people who I know are in fact aware just how deeply I care for them, people who I am secure with in my appreciation for them. For deppy, being in the public eye, I guess they also only do this when they feel some level of security that their fanbase is aware of their care for each other. Maybe I am wrong, but for me that would play into it; I wouldn't make fun of someone that I like if I wasn't sure that the many people watching our behaviour could see clearly that it's just a joke. I think that's part of why seeing this behaviour of them makes me so happy: I view it as them trusting that we know they care for each other deeply, so they can easily make those jokes because we know. They let us know. Ugh.
or maybe I am just over-analysing and looking at it too strongly from how I would act in their situation, who knows

I highly doubt the script would've been rejected because of homosexual content... I don't think homophobia or heteronormatovity are part of tinder "values" (I've never used it, but I believe you can choose what gender you're attracted to). It has most likely been rejected because of borderline jokes or a too sexual content as other have said before.

However you make a very good point asking that question because I can't think of a single LGBTQ+ youtuber who has done this spon, and there has been a lot lately. Maybe they were contacted but weren't interested?

Just because they're cool with gay/etc people using their app doesn't mean they want to shell out full-value spon dollars on something that will appeal to a minority of their potential customers (and also potentially alienate some of the majority potential customers). Money wins over "values" most of the time, and usually at the expense of minorities involved. There's not much point giving a brand/business the benefit of the doubt (imo).

I think you have a point with this. Can you imagine that happening in a collab with anyone else? To act like that requires the trust that we know that they are joking. It's also part of why I like it so much, because joking about things like that reaffirms that they have a close relationship and make each other happy. All I want is for them to be happy.

I haven't watched Phil's latest ls but I want to give it a watch soon. I've started finding myself drawn more and more towards Phil; I always used to consider myself a fan of both but with a soft spot for Dan and I'm happy that its changing because I love Phil, he brightens up my day. Also I'm finding him more and more attractive as he ages...
