Both in the way that I fear that we are too much of a nuisance so he thinks this step is neccessary, but also that he literally bans something he has mentioned twice as something he might talk about, and then taking away our option to ask about it. What would lead him to not even just haru-ing it, but straight out banning the words and deleting comments that cost people money? I guess I am sad he's uncomfortable with it. And I already call it that he won't do a liveshow next week at all which makes me extra curious to see if Phil streams Thursday. Also, another 45 minute liveshow? I feel like this is the new normal for Dan, he hasn't done an hour long one in two months.
(Please forgive my ignorance, but what currency was that superchat & how much is 200 of it?)

Matty: "Dan and Phil? Like Dan and Phil off the radio?"
Dan: "Phil I told you we couldn't call up as fans. Oh my god this is very embarrassing."
Dan: "Phil I told you we couldn't call up as fans. Oh my god this is very embarrassing."
Some random word vomit about the liveshow:
I'm assuming he just isn't ready to tell us about the week in March yet for whatever reason. And I mean it's not like people are spamming him about a throwaway comment he accidentally made, he specifically said to ask him about it. (I've seen a good amount of people saying that Dan might be upset/annoyed with people asking about it which I don't really agree with, though anything's possible.) I could see him blacklisting the phrase, if he did, as a way of just keeping the chat more clear, since he wouldn't be talking about it anyway.
I have the exact same confusion that I did the last time he did a ls in his room... of why in the world he would choose to do it in there of all places. Especially since he did it on his phone, so he wouldn't have to worry about having to set his laptop up somewhere. Plus doing a little pan around the room like he did last time... Didn't he say in some ls when they first moved in that they wanted to have the upstairs as a private place and use the downstairs for filming? I could be completely remembering wrong. I'm not complaining though.
Ending earlier than an hour seems to be a pattern with these phone liveshows. When he announced that he would be moving his shows to 9:30 for GBBO, I kind of wondered if he was trying to have an excuse to do shorter liveshows. Like, it would be less noticeable to end earlier than 10:30, at 10:15 or something, than to start at 9:00 end at 9:45 or whatever. Yes, I'm pessimistic lol. I guess 10-15 minutes really doesn't make that big a difference, but eh.
When he was talking about the dinof vid he's thinking of making, my first thought went to a mental health one like he mentioned in the last (or one before) liveshow. I'm neutral towards the idea, though he'd have to be careful. I love when he talks openly about his mental health in his liveshows, but it's a pretty delicate subject and it would be very easy to come across wrongly and upset people. (Specifically I'm thinking of what could go wrong if he made it more general and advice-y as opposed to focused on HIS struggles/issues. Not saying I personally would be bothered by it, just that I can picture it bothering others.) Of course he might have been talking about a completely different video idea.
Curious why the heck he didn't tweet it. Guess it's possible he legitimately forgot. Also, basically meaningless, but iirc this is the first time he's sponned the liveshow recording on Tumblr?
As for the actual content of the liveshow, I quite enjoyed it. (Honestly I'm not that invested in the "that week in March" speculation anyway, because at the end of the day there's nothing that can be done beside waiting for if/when he explains it.) The moon room makes for such an aesthetically pleasing background, man. Halloween baking confirmed, yesss. The story of the Youtuber asking for Phil's Whatsapp made me laugh. I'm torn on whether I'd want him to do a viewers pick my outfit vid as well. Though I am very down for him using dini for things that don't fit his ~quality threshold~ for dinof. (unironic candle haul he keeps teasing?
) Oh, and he mentioned Phil quite a bit which is always nice.

That's the thing the phandom always seems to do....they take a comment that was mentioned & hold onto it for dear life.
Inundating someone with a question or questions that they didn't answer or ignored in the past shouldn't continually be asked.
Just being a fan & watching the same questions being asked all the time is really annoying so I can only imagine how annoying it is for them. Dan makes lists & writes out bullet points to cover in his LSs so since he hasn't brought it (that week in March) up himself, it's obvious that he doesn't want to talk about it, at least not yet (if ever). He's not one to forget especially because the phans wouldn't ever let him forget.
I sometimes can't believe how pushy people are about wanting more from Dan & Phil. They have given us so much already; merch, a tour, books, almost weekly live streams, individual channel videos, gaming videos & recently live gaming streams but that's just not enough for some people so I wonder where exactly is that line? When is enough enough? When will people realize that we get so much more from them than most get from others? I adore Dan and Phil, I respect them & their privacy, I respect them enough to know that they share what they are comfortable sharing & I also know not to hang on every single thing they say, not because they are being shady but because they have a right to change their minds about things.
I take everything they say with a grain of salt. They have to keep people interested, so in a way, they lead people on with comments & actions - we always want more. They act domestic just enough, they tease/bant just to that point of "no they didn't", " that was so cute", "what!?!" because it keeps people coming back & wanting to see a little more or to see how far they'll take it the next time. They are smart guys that give just enough & we should be happy with that.
I'm not aiming this at anyone & this isn't meant to be nasty, it's just a rant.

I think this is the first time he's put his liveshow on tumblr since he started doing them on youtube instead of younow, but he used to have all of his streams up on his tumblr

I SO hope he did forget to tweet which may be weird but them tweeting their ls has always had a weird thing in my head. Like, Phil and Dan always make this elaborate tweet moment in their live shows and say I always forget to tweet haha. But I always feel like the never forget and even though I get why they do it, and why they wait until the ls is happening I still always think about them not actually forgetting. So if he forgot today it kinda feels cosmic.
In relation to their views, I just realized I still have not gotten one about his LS. I wonder if there is something going on from youtube end regarding reflecting actual amount of views and/or alerts and notifications. It makes me kinda wonder how D + P feel about their views.

If that floor contains (as currently suspected as best I recall from earlier speculation and guessing), the lounge with Dan's nook, the kitchen with Phil's LS dining table, the moon room, and (probably) a bathroom... there's not much other place he could do it on that floor. The lounge is connected to the nook/kitchen, so you'd still hear the tv. And this is Dan, so honestly, if he was just in the lounge and was planning to return to it or the kitchen afterward, I wouldn't put it past him to do it in the moon room just to avoid walking downstairs.tyhane wrote: Tue Oct 03, 2017 11:23 pm I have the exact same confusion that I did the last time he did a ls in his room... of why in the world he would choose to do it in there of all places. (Same, tbh.)
Also, he specifically said he wasn't going to tweet it.
That's my socializing quota for the month up.

Unless this was a weird fever dream... didn't Dan say in a LS (I think an old one, like 2012/13) that he took the danisnotonfire account but used a different one for actually posting and stuff? So it might be possible that it's actually him and he forgot to switch accounts. Though I don't know why he'd be on it in the first place, because it seems like he'd just take it then leave it to rot so nobody could use it and pretend to be him. Don't see a reason why he'd ever log back onto it.goldenmermaid wrote: Wed Oct 04, 2017 1:13 amWould dan really use his own username? I think there's a pretty high chance that's "the" (lol) Dan's public Reddit account. The fact that it's 6 years old does it for me. What rando in 2011 was trolling around as Dan on Reddit? I'd imagine he created accounts to secure the 'dinof' username on as many large websites as he could think of as he started to gain a larger audience. I'd probably do the same.goldenmermaid wrote: Wed Oct 04, 2017 1:13 amWould dan really use his own username? Dunno how many IDB users are on Reddit... for the uninitiated, alts / "throwaway" accounts on Reddit are super common. Reddit doesn't require an email address to sign up, so you can pretty quickly create some junk throwaway acct and get to posting right away.
I've used Reddit since around the same time and have used countless throwaways for personal things I didn't want my name/main account attached to. I'd imagine for anything personal or incriminating, he'd use a throwaway account.

That was a really nice liveshow in my opinion, I'm in bed with the flu and it was exactly what I needed. I love that October is his favourite month, I loved the way he so enthusiastically talked about Phil's fashion video, and I loved the little anecdote about the two of them having their first autumnal drinks of the season.
Despite the fact that the youtube livestreams are shorter and less likely to provide opportunity to talk extensively about various topics than younow livestreams, I find that Dan always seems much calmer in them, and more at ease with himself or something. Less on edge. It's nice, and I'd actually be happy for him to continue with them, maybe with the odd younow stream every now and again.
Re: week in March - I think it's totally fair that people want him to talk about it, given that Dan himself was the person who told us to ask him about it. He wouldn't have said that if he didn't ever want to talk about it, so I imagine his decision to (presumably) blacklist it in the superchat/avoid talking about it at all was less out of annoyance at the topic and more out of being unable to tell us about it just yet. It's only early October, could be that he can't talk about it until later in the month, or it could even be that he has to delay telling us yet again. I don't think there's any need to be worried that Dan's mad or annoyed by people wanting to know about it, nor is there any need to reprimand people for incessantly asking about it, given that Dan himself is the person to have a) brought up the topic in the first place and b)specifically told us to ask him for details about it in the future.
Re: moon room - I was surprised he streamed from his room again, I definitely would have thought he'd just stream from the gaming room again or something if he couldn't be in the living area. I don't think the straighteners are sufficient evidence of Phil sleeping in that room (although, I think he probably does anyway), just because it's possible that Dan does use the straighteners to style his hair (my hair is the same texture as Dan's and I use straighteners to define my curls sometimes), and it's also possible that he does straighten his hair from time to time (it looked straighter than usual at the Jaguar event, for example). That doesn't mean I don't believe Phil also sleeps in that room (I actually do), just that the straighteners aren't sufficient evidence of that.
Re: future new vid - I also think it's likely he's seriously thinking of doing a mental health video, given that he's mentioned it recently and he talked about how it's a video that deserves to be undertaken with care. He again talked genuinely about his own mental health, it does seem that he's more comfortable lately being open about his experience with agoraphobia, and I'm glad he feels able to talk about that
I have a feeling he'll bail on the mental health video (or whatever it is) and the next vid will be an ISG, and if that's the case I honestly won't be mad as it's been nearly seven months since the last one, and so long as he's not churning them out on a monthly basis I don't mind them that much.

Did we not talk about that account on here just recently, or did I make that up? I think we came to the consensus that it's probably not him as surely he'd want to keep that aspect of his internet life secret and inconspicuous. I mean, it might be him, but it almost seems a bit too obvious.onetruetrash wrote: Wed Oct 04, 2017 12:50 amI actually found that account last week or something, but thought nothing of it for whatever reason. Prompted Phil Mention
~32/48mins = 0.666 per min
How about some YT vs. younow speculation: WHAT IF Dan always did hour-long shows because it paid more than Phil’s 40-45 minute shows (because maybe they had slightly different contracts since Dan had slightly higher numbers and so 60min was a stricter requirement to get more money? or something? is that how business works? idk) and now in his old(er) age, he can’t be arsed to do the full hour each week anymore, and YT makes up the difference in pay even with a shorter run-time, so he’s favouring YT instead because it makes financial sense (equal-greater money for equal-lesser effort). And the monetary difference isn’t enough for Phil to give a shit and we all know he’s not big on unnecessary change if something is working just fine. and vaguely blaming the internet is easier than bringing money/etc into it (or he just doesn't want to insult younow by straight up saying their streaming sucks in comparison, who knows).
Thanks and have a great day! Oil me

i'm one for those who don't really care about "that week in march" anymore. i did back in August but it kinda reminded me of years ago when dan promised to upload the vegas vlog but never did. or could since the usb or whatever got water damaged so they later included it in TABINOF in a funny, remembrance way. i am to believe he will mention it on his own time when he feels ready or can be ready (if legal issues are involved) so until then, it's not something i want to ponder about.
i like his youtube live streams and this one particular did feel a bit more intimate. he wasn't goofing around with the filters like he usually does and seemed like he had a list he was going off of (he kept glancing down in between topics which i assume where his laptop was).
i immediately noticed the straightener during the quick pan but i honestly don't think much of it or have an opinion if they share bedrooms still. maybe cause i keep my straightener in my roommate's room because we share it. it's not in the bathroom because there isn't a proper storage space for the socket converter because my straightener is from the US and all of our apartment wall sockets are European. My roommate's straightener also broke and she does her hair more often than me so I'm letting her keep it in her room where the converter is and I'll go into her room time to time if I want to do my hair too.
as much as i like theorizing what they may be up to, i'm honestly more happy that a baking video is confirmed lol.

I haven't posted in a long time because *ugh* school and all.
But: The "week in march" thing. I wasn't surprised at all he put it off again. I feel slightly like the phandom made it much more of a big deal than it actually was. It might have just been the danandphilgames merch, and he didn't say it because it would disappoint everyone. And I mean, maybe it's something tiny and he just likes to "troll" us, or just keep us interested, because if so it's definitely working. Of course like most everyone else, I'd like to think it's Phan wedding, or new house and doggo, or something, but I don't want to disappoint myself. I honestly don't know what to make of his blocking words from the chat, like how could he actually do that, does he just say, like block the words "march" and "week" or something? Like, just imaging the phandom trying to get past that. "Dan, could you inform us of the seven day period in the month after febuary" Or something.
The new phil clothes video.: I know that idb is really fast, and already way past this. But I really enjoyed this video, some of the new amaingphil videos this year has been, well, I don't know, but uninteresting to me, but this video made up for any of that because it was amazing af. My favorite outfits: The yellow top outfit, and the ripped jeans. And phil's arms were amazing as always. Glad we got to see them for all their beauty in this video.
I'm really glad they're going to make a baking video, those are always some of my favorite DnP videos of all time, I love watching any baking videos for some reason, and watching dan and Phil fail at them is even more entertaining. But I don't know if anything can beat last year's monster cake pop video.

Would dan really use his own username? I feel like he uses reddit a lot and he'd want it to be private... like, there were already people on that thread questioning if it was 'the' dan, but who knows, maybe he doesnt care![]()
ltl, ftp.
The thing you haven't considered is the culture on reddit. I've spent a long time on reddit myself, and I know that there is a strong culture of having multiple accounts.
Many people have a private account that they mostly use, and a throw away that they might use for something more personal.
People also make novelty accounts just for the lols.
It's not a stretch at all to imagine that Dan has a private account, and that he got ownership of the danisnotonfire username and thought it might be a bit of fun to troll us with it.
It's either that, or the person who Has registered his name is trolling, otherwise what kind of coincidence would it be that the real dan is obsessed with guild wars two, and that the reddit account has a character on that game that is massively upgraded.
I read through a few of his comments, and honestly, the way he phrases some sentences... it just sounds like Dan.
And we all know that Dan is 100% the kind of person who would do something like this just to troll us.

That was a really lovely liveshow. It’s only from reading here that I remembered the filters, it was nice without them especially since he talked more seriously about a few things. He talked fairly easily about not liking going outside, but I’d be surprised if he made a mental health video. When he talked about it before I thought he meant he’s thought about it, but it’s in the back of his mind for now. It was really interesting to hear all about YouTuber camp, the Asap guys and how he was persuaded to go to the roller disco because that’s where dinner was
It was so cute how he talked about Phil too, calling him Philip Lester, the Amazing, or however he put it, he seemed to talk about him more than usual. He seemed more chilled and open generally, it was good. Also to hear his thoughts on the fashion video. I’m not convinced about the beanie and it’s a shame Phil’s also not convinced about the white jeans, but knee pads do sound a bit weird. I wonder if he kept the Ghibli top, that was really cute.
The potato sack swamped him a bit, I think just because it wasn’t hanging off his shoulders like it usually does. If he stood up, it would. The room looked good too, interesting to see it with the lights on properly. I didn’t think anything of the hair straighteners until I got here, but good point. Maybe Phil just doesn’t have space in his room
Funny to see 16 pairs of black and white shoes and seemingly all trainers. I guess they’re all different in some way? Seems boring, but I guess they all go with the rest of his clothes.
The Reddit page with the Guild Wars character was posted recently. It’s a good video clip, the poses are cute with him bowing at the end. I don’t know if it’s his for certain, but the screenshot of his character on Twitter ages ago looked very similar (you can pay for a thing to change their hairstyles). He didn’t miss much by being in Spain when the expansion launched, the first few days had a lot of server connection problems and it took me until late the next day to even load the new area and story.
So glad Halloween baking is confirmed and to hear his thoughts on months and holidays. Baking videos are some of their best so I’m glad he found something he wants to eat, we don’t often get both Easter and Halloween

I'm all for a Halloween baking, but also #TeamFestiveBaking ffs.
This liveshow was sweet. If there's one thing I really enjoy about the YouTube liveshows, it's that we get a close up of his face and that makes his body language/facial movements more exaggerated in a really endearing way I can't quite explain. He's very expressive and I fall for that shit every time.
I've been picking up on a thing Dan tends to do regularly that's become a bit more glaring in YT/mobile liveshows. He notices something on himself or in the background and immediately wants to talk about it, so he phrases it like a question. "Dan, what's on your bookshelf?" or "Dan, your hair's fluffy!" (IDK, I made these up.) Today's was at 17:39, where you see him catch sight of the candle in his own background then ask himself about it as if it's someone in the chat: "Dan, is that a candle in the background?" I don't hate it. I think it's a pretty clever way to comment on things he may want to explain. It's also kind of a fun game to catch these things, given how often he does it. Some of the questions are too obvious and quick.
On that note, I'm kind of living for how comfortable he is showing us around their bedroom a bit. I get this warm feeling that he knows we know and doesn't mind as long as it's not like... blatant and public.

ETA: On the topic of that reddit post... I totally think that's Dan. He obviously has a more private account he uses regularly, but if you look at that post it's nothing but bragging. Why not log into a username everyone knows you by and show off a bit? Especially, given we know that his main is a mesmer. The guy wanted to show off and tbh, I don't think it drew as big a response as he thought it would.

The whole bragging thing made me laugh. The Phandom is practically nonexistent on Reddit afaik. I think it's more likely he'd find casual viewers on Reddit. I wonder what percentage of Dan's audience demographic matches the average Reddit demographic? (If that makes sense?) Some of Reddit's stereotypes exist for a reason lmao.rizzo wrote: Wed Oct 04, 2017 3:49 am I'm all for a Halloween baking, but also #TeamFestiveBaking ffs.

The whole sneaking in things he wants to talk about also makes me go hmm. It's a bit more noticeable to me now that you point it out. I don't think he or Phil have the greatest poker faces, haha. It also reminds me of that theory(?) floating around that Dan makes up questions out of thin air (the gas man thing.) It's funny in an "oh god I'm in too deep for noticing that" kind of way.
Another thing I noticed was his mention of his collab with Louise. Cba to find the time stamp of it on mobile but when someone asked if they collabed with Louise recently, he corrected them to say they "hung out with Louise recently." I wonder why the twist on words there? Louise already posted about the collab, it's not as if there's any big surprise is there?
It's a reach but it makes me wonder if this has something to do with why Louise has postponed posting it? Someone else here on IDB said she usually uploads on Mondays right...? I just have so many questions. Dammit Dan.

I can't figure out why, but I really liked that live show... I think it was the vibe, it was calm.
I was wondering ur opinions... have u noticed anything different with the chat when Danny boi goes youtube ? It couldn't just be me overthinking it, but the chat has felt more spammy(?) than it usually does on younow, like even more people doing the usual repetitive asks and stuff like that, if that makes sense?
Dan is pretty adamant about liveshows feeling "intimate" and I feel like, besides the obvious "intimacy as a commodity" thing that is youtube, he does it partly for himself because he might feel more comfortable talking about off-script semi-personal things when he can say it's mostly the same people tuning in each week.
Dan seems to kind of like being able to talk (a bit) freely, and maybe the opportunity cost of having ~10k fans not tune in (and pay $$) because they didn't get a tweet is worth the illusion of intimacy dan gets from a slightly smaller group watching/streaming to ppl who have watched him enough to remember when he's on? Especially since he gets ad revenue anyway from people who watch the show later if they miss it. Although tbh I low key hope that's not the case bc I would miss liveshws 90% of the time if he didn't tweet.
Tbh he uses descriptors like "intimate" etc. so much it feels like he's trying to sell it to himself almost as much as he's trying to sell it to us.
Idk, Im just thinkin about this because I'm kind of relating this to my teaching--five weeks into the semester I finally feel kinda comfortable when I'm lecturing; I feel like I'm teaching people I know even tho I have over 100 students in each section. The illusion of intimacy gives me the confidence to make lame jokes and reveal tidbits of my life... but yeah 100 students isn't the same as a literal FANDOM
Sorry for any typos, I'm on moble and my hands are freezing so I'm probably mistyping a lot
(I'm totally procrastinating and it feel so so good)
