[offtopic]I quite like Emma Blackery tbh. I watched some of her videos a while ago and found her funny and refreshing. I know she's still not always above things as she tries to be, but really who is. A few years ago I had an experience with a group of new friends turning out to be too established plus a mixup with matchmaking that mostly left me out and heartbroken, though ironically still friends with the one who accidentally set the ball rolling. Different situation, but with that context too I almost like her more for it, or identify, or something. Also her roast was incredibly good.[/offtopic]

I needed a night to formulate my thoughts about the video. Initially I loved it, it had the right amount of snark, humour, and honesty that I could expect from Dan. The tumblr part had me laughing out loud and I even rewatched in different speeds. He addressed his sexuality and the ambiguity which made me happy. It was a true drag and he did exceed my expectations about the video but I wasn't exactly mindblown as many here were. What bothered me most is how he addressed phan. (sorry missemma))

The way he handled the shipping really pissed me off. I thought about it last night. If he planned on roasting the fandom, boiling down to us shipping because they are two "cute white guys" is a an insult to my intelligence. I ship because I see countless evidence, slip ups, vday etc not because I desperately want it to be true, I just accept that it is and have now formed an attachment with it. It's not like they don't nurture that attachment. Fancybum you asked how should we expect them to act? Well how about we start with Dan not posting an "I am steamy" tweet than posting a picture of dinner with Phil. That literally blew the phandom up and later they clarified they were with their editors. Why not include that initially, why make it seem like it was only them? How about they don't put "draw me like a french girl" in their TATINOF show. How about they don't take a pic of themselves in Niagra and post "getting moist with Phil" when they were actually with the whole TATINOF crew. They have alluded countless times that something more was happening then went no-phano. Yes it sells and they really do get views from it so that statement was honest but I can't help feeling manipulated in the process. I'm not stupid and I'm not picking on straws when analyzing phan. I am painting a picture on all the evidence I see. It's almost hurtful to drag the people that ship them and equate them to "oh these boys look cute" because that really isn't the case and they are aware. They are aware of the tweets formsprings, vday, timelines yet it's completely ignored in this statement. I don't expect them to confirm or deny anything, just stop manipulating with emotions then completely backtrack again. We are always back on square one with the boys and its honestly pretty tiring.

Lbr I'd likely do the exact same thing, had I been in their shoes. It would've left a slightly bad taste in my mouth, but I'd do it. It's the most sensible course of action to preserve both privacy and economy at the same time (if not necessarily self respect).

I've been so late at this point but I just wanna quickly touch a bit about 'what if Dan knows about indepthbants and lurks here?'

I secretly want Dan to know we exist and be happy about having mature dedicated fans (or the old nose perverts) that loves him and gives critical opinions about his contents and whatnot and not just lapping up everything he produce just because we are phans.

I also desperately want him to like us, not to hate us, if he knows we exist, because at the end of the day, we're all trash. at least I am. Lol

That being said, really shouldn't lurk here when there's new content going on because we are going to discuss and rehash all the things we haven't finish discussing before, or maybe adding on info (aka archiving) about things we didn't know before, and reading about that probably gonna make you more self aware and afraid of doing things and giving more opinions.

Good liveshow, though.
I wish he uploads the behind the scene recording the rap thing, because he has his forehead going on in that and I need more of that in life. Lol.

I kinda wish they roast each other like Pewds and Jacksepticeye did because that's more domestic(?). Haha. But all Phil gonna say is rehashing all the things from 'reason why Dan's a fail' and Dan will ramble about Phil's obsession with houseplant and stealing cereal.

They can upload that on DaPG for Dan vs Phil. I don't mind. Not that it is a game or whatnot. Lol.

I hope neither Dan nor Phil come across or lurk on idb. Never good to read too much about what other people think about you. Not to mention if it becomes known that either one frequents this site, how many would use it to 'directly' contact them, or troll them. On the other hand, I, personally, would lose a safe space to vent and/or admire them. I prefer my fourth wall sturdy yet porous.

I do wonder if Dan and Phil still enjoy making youtube vids (non-gaming). I looked at their recent output and 1. not much, 2. not much 'creative, original', 3. sigh, they are cute together (aahhh rabbit hole) 4. no more points come to mind. Yes for once shane could have asked more about what she did, I could only imagine but obviously they tried to downplay it and to not talk about other recent problematic things.

I think when we are comparing this place to some of the other YouTuber threads on the other site we are a beacon of light and positivity because some of those threads are literally just about hate and no one posting actually seems to be a genuine fan. The vast majority on here are true fans so while we can be negative we are rarely hateful for the sake of it (of course there are exceptions to this.)

That being said in between us debating if this place is mean people are writing Phil's diss track for him. For Phil himself reading those probably won't feel good. So for them yeah we are probably both nasty and invasive. I do believe though that a fan forum is the most apropopiste place to discuss them and if they come looking for us and see things they don't like that is their problem and not ours. We are doing our part by discussing this stuff in a fan environment and not sending it to them on Twitter etc as some fans do.

It took me about twenty minutes of digging, but I finally found a silver lining: when he says "I should have done it out of solidarity. That's one of my biggest regrets, to be honest."

I appreciate the idea that while lightly mocking Phil for a past failure, Dan still expresses that he wished he'd done it too. It feels like Dan saying 'he failed at something but he shouldn't have had to fail alone, and I feel bad for that.'

I'm just going to hope that Dan appreciates that Phil is willing to try and create new things even if they don't always take off, because it isn't something Dan seems brave enough to do on his own.
