I don't think so! But, it makes me wonder how it would change the fandom.Levitating wrote: Wed Sep 25, 2024 9:25 am So do you guys think that once they are explicit, they will lose their appeal?
Dan and Phil Part 105: Gay 🧡

Not entirely on topic, but I keep wondering about how Dan wasn't out to anyone (I'm not sure if it's specified as literally anyone or if his close family just wasn't higher on the hierarchy than some close friends might be) and what those people who were/are close to them irl thought about him and Phil's relationship. Was Phil out to any of them, since he was out to people outside the internet before?
I saw a clip on twitter from a Dan and Anthony video where Dan talks about how being in the closet held him back from getting closer to Anthony because he didn't want to risk they'd start talking about romance and such. So I really wonder what all these people were thinking. Obviously the whole internet thought they're dating, but the internet projects such theories on any two men who spend time together. But obviously in Dan and Phil's case, it must've been even more obvious irl, I'd assume.

IRL, anybody who's ever had anything to be closeted about gets really good at deflecting and cover stories. Married to your work, too busy for all that right now, etc. are all common reasons to explain why you're still single. I'm sure part of the stress he was under was also constantly having explanations for things. Both Dan and Phil explained living together as sort of a "content house" situation before those became common for content creators. Most people also aren't super pushy and intrusive in person and wouldn't question why they were single or living together for so long to their faces.tinnie wrote: Sat Sep 28, 2024 9:43 am Not entirely on topic, but I keep wondering about how Dan wasn't out to anyone (I'm not sure if it's specified as literally anyone or if his close family just wasn't higher on the hierarchy than some close friends might be) and what those people who were/are close to them irl thought about him and Phil's relationship. I have Feelings about that tweet that I can't even process
Also I'm low key jealous of Phil's phone suggesting such gorgeous backgrounds, my Google Pixel never makes me beautiful edits of my wife to use...

After a few weeks off, TIT continues in the US and Canada! Tomorrow (for me today yay timezones) is the first show in Seattle. Dedicated thread is here.
Also they did an interview with a New Zealand LGBTQ+ magazine:
The interviewer asked about their 'dating status' and as per usual they did not answer lol. It's interesting 'cause in their content they've become pretty damn obvious about it and very few phannies even question it anymore to the point where we even joke about it with DnP themselves a bit, but outsiders are still told to mind their business. And that's honestly such a great boundary for them to have.
The pictures thoooo!! That cover is so cute, it should've been a photocard.
There's another interview coming up tomorrow (probably).

Exciting times for them! I'm enjoying this era. I still get bitter over the gaming channel and lack of actual gaming (bc when they do it it's so good), but I've been having fun with deppy lately.

i loved how she kept Dan on check. She asked Phil a question, Dan joined in and in this Phil lost the window to actually fully answer the question, so she repeated it by re-addressing him only ahah
I really enjoyed the newest sims video. I relate to Dan’s comments about how it’s hard to watch tv shows about people’s high school experiences that you didn’t get to have. I’m not generally big on those types of shows either for that reason. But I guess it’s different for him with the sims because he gets to create it.
Also lol at Phil and his iPad

sooo what's the discourse surrounding Phil's comments about his ancestors in the mines lol it seems like they've seen people complaining about it but I have no idea because I'm not on tumblr or twitter
i wanted to see Phil's ipad too I'm honestly always hoping that they stop playing to tell a northern childhood anecdote or something i just don't care about the sims sorry! I'm pretty sure i stopped watching the sims videos at some point before the hiatus because they've mentioned things i don't remember at all but they've been more entertaining after the comeback
also is there a video of that people magazine interview or is it just that one clip?

I think I've seen two clips so far? But I don't think it's meant to be a whole video, just tid bits that the interviewer shared.momentojabali wrote: Thu Oct 10, 2024 6:48 pm also is there a video of that people magazine interview or is it just that one clip?
And I agree about their yapping in the gaming videos. For me the sims is not the most entertaining thing they could play, but it often gives them the opportunity to tell random stories, which is what makes the videos better. So idk who is complaining about that. There are dozens of sims youtubers who are good at the game and focus only on that, people should go watch those if they want serious sims content.
Dan says he doesn't understand why people want a podcast but this is exactly why. Them telling random stories without the need to stop themselves. The stereo shows were a blessing and the live shows back in the day were so fun, just hanging out with them and hearing what's new. That's all people want.

Literally that was my favourite thing they ever did I pray they change their minds one day and go back to that. I've actually been listening to the stereo shows again this summer and also today while ironing! I don't think I've said this here before but I'd love it if they did a livestream every month where they also raise money for something like they did for their birthdays. I believe Dan is the one who has the biggest problem with livestreams and podcasts (let me know if you think it's really Phil or both!) but then he would be able to say ok it's low effort and all that but we're doing something good for the world and they've already seen that many people are willing to donate. Doesn't Christine (simplynailogical) do this? I'm not sure i don't follow her that closely anymore it might just be donations out of her own pocket every month.tinnie wrote: Thu Oct 10, 2024 7:43 pm Dan says he doesn't understand why people want a podcast but this is exactly why. I think I made a post here when they first announced the tour that I wasn't sure I would go, but I did end up going tonight & it was a really good experience!
The space of the theater that was booked was completely full, which made for a great atmosphere.
This is the third time I've been to one of their shows alone, and the fifth time I've seen them perform. Like the other times I've come alone, I've come away surprised by how good of an experience it was. It makes it such a cool experience when you've been a fan for so long to just acknowledge all the fun, awkward and crazy times that were sort of joint experiences with everyone else in that crowd.
I even chatted a bit to another fan who came alone and was sitting nearby

I went to last night's show as well and the vibes were truly immaculate. It was such a fun experience and everyone from fans, to dnp, to the venue staff, to dnp's crew were all great. For me, this was the best show of theirs that I've been to. I really wish I could go again.
