I don't know what younow pays but due to the serious lack of big youtubers who use it on a regular basis I really doubt they are paying the big bucks. I'm by no means saying D&P do it for free just that if the money was all that great they'd be other big youtubers who'd have remained loyal to the format.
Afterall unlike a video where the filming and editing process can take days for younow you literally only have to put in a single hours work (45 minutes if your Phil). Youtube livestream may pay less but I doubt the gap is that big.

Actually, I often watched the youtube livestreams of The Hillywood Show and they have ads during and after, so I'd guess youtube pay for liveshows just like a video... and doesn't crash as much. I don't know if you have to have a deal with youtube for it, tho, because when I watch Superwoman livestreams I never see ads.

For youtube liveshows, can they continue to monetize after the stream is done like with regular youtube vids?

I think (although I may be wrong) that broadcasters on YouNow are paid through 60-70% of the bars tipped by their audience during the livestream.

I bit late to the party but omg that video I loved it. I'm so over pokemon go but I'd D&P I'd watch anything they do. The 19 minutes went so quickly because I enjoyed it so much

Things I liked off the top of my head

- Dan describing Prof Willow's outfit actually made laugh out loud
- Phil being like the shoes match the bag straps
- Them pretending animals (geese) were pokemons was funny even though every single pokemon go player has made that joke
- Dan having to grab Phil to stop him from running into a pole literally after they had just talked about Phil running into things
- Dan just randomly talking to those kids was soo adorable 'i know who you are' and him just telling them what pokemons they caught
- the NAMES - cumberat, traffichazar, bob
- But they legit can't have been tired from walking around? it wasn't that far surely!
- Phil running through the geese to chase pokemon
- Just seeing them in a new location/s made it really exciting

If they are doing a series I wonder what it will be like. I'm curious to see if they will end up being mobbed by fans at the pokestops/gyms. In my medium sized towns people absolutely flock to the parks where the pokestops are so I cannot imagine what it would be like in London. Especially as I imagine that D&P will pick popular-ish places to hunt for pokemons.

It's funny because yesterday I was like 'eh I'm kinda over D&P' and now I'm like omg pls more videos. Sigh

I watched a Superwoman liveshow on YouTube and was amazed at how smooth and unbuggy it was compared to YouNow But also the layout is better I think, as you can see what's going on better. Hopefully the boys will switch over.

What's interesting to note about this new younow subscription feature is that so far, most people who have the subscription feature are people who stream almost daily. Maybe the subscription feature is only offered to people who stream more often than once a week? We'll find out tommrow if Phil does a live show and agrees to the subscription thing I guess. I feel like they might not agree, but who knows. still don't get why younow put a pay wall up on a site that crashes so often.
Edit: I've found out you have to pay PER PERSON you want to subscribe to. Meaning you'd have to pay for both Dan and Phil PER MONTH just to watch their live streams back. It's about $5 per subscription. Why would I pay $10 a month to watch back live streams and send them stupid "exclusive stickers and messages"?? I could pay $10 for YouTube red and actually get more bang for my buck.

Well there has to be a reason why D&P continue doing it while others aren't, and genuinely the only thing that comes to my mind is that they're getting paid better than others. I dunno why that is, I guess they bring more people to the website? Or their audience spend more money on those dumb Premium messages? The phandom is after all probably the most dedicated YouTube fandom, even if it's not the biggest.

The only liveshows I've watched on YouTube are vlogbrothers ones for P4A. Those being for charity might change things of course, but I don't think there are ads on those either. Interesting that there others who do have them.

Phil – July 10, 2016 – 361600 bars

Assuming that actual value of the bar is equivalent to value paid, where 90 bars cost $0.99 and 6500 bars cost $49.99, and under the guidelines that Younow keeps between 30% (which I used although I have also seen 40%) of the bar cost, then the earnings from the tip jar are probably somewhere in the ballpark of:

Dan: $1505-2152
Phil: $1946-2784

This is all conjecture, but I am guessing that their fanbase is the reason that they are successful/profitable on Younow to a degree that other Youtubers were not.

I would love it if D+P were to switch to a free livestreaming platform to spite younow but idk how likely that is. But just imagine. I wonder if younow would undo the paid subscription service if they boycotted them...

I wouldn't be surprised if younow is specifically doing this to take advantage of Deppy's popularity. Who else on that bloody website brings in so much traffic that people would actually be wiling to pay to rewatch? If D+P weren't there I just can't imagine younow making much of a profit at all.

imagine being able to make around $2000 just by sitting in front of your computer and talking to people for an hour, i am so jealous

i think the reason why it's profitable to do it for them and not other bug youtubers is simply because the phandom is more engaged, i feel like big youtubers might get a bigger crowd if they do it once in a while, but how many youtubers other than deppy do you think can get a big audience every single week?

that being said idk how much of a difference $2000 make for them, two or three less items of clothing for dan, i have hope that if younow gets really shitty (more than it already is) they will change to youtube streams even if they lose some money

Ok, so I liked the video. Very cute. I appreciated Dan's outfit. The video was very relatable and asked all of the essential beginner PokemonGo questions. I loved the part where they spoke to the children. Amazing. Especially when they ran toward D+P in excitement.
Least favorite part: All of the exercise jokes. It is so tired, and really not funny at all.
Not great parts:
1.) I felt like Phil barely talked and it was just Dan talking the entire time. I don't immensely mind considering i'm a Dan stan, but the banter could have been more equal.
2.) They made a lot of oblique references. I didn't really mind the pokemon ones. Even though I didn't really understand them I found the geeking out cute. But especially later in the video I found that I wasn't understanding a few of the references that they were making (like the 'Clarence' thing). Then I understood the Haru thing but I think that anyone who doesn't follow them closely/ doesn't know about Free! would not get that reference. Whatever. I guess they have always had a lot of inside jokes.

Ok I am finally able to watch the whole video and sit down for 2 seconds and write on here. So frustrating having to adult when a new video comes out! Not only do I not get to watch it a million times, but I can't come on here and see what y'all have to say about it! Ugh *stamps foot and pouts*

I loved it. I am not even into Pokemon, but this made it look fun. (still not gonna play it, but ya know) I keep seeing people all over playing it. Pretty funny, you can pick out who is playing it and who is just walking down the road. My fav parts were already discussed. Although the threesome comment didn't get as much discussion as I had anticipated. I don't mind the pants as much now that I see them in 'action'. In the picture it looked like they were saggy af and weird in the crotch. Phil in that coat, yes please. I loved all the screenshots/ close ups that you guys provided. The whole video was great. It combined my two favorite genres they do, DITL and DAPG.

My comment before: I completely forgot about the Dragon DvsP video...I donno how. I love that stupid dragon game. (note the heavy sarcasm). Sad, I thought maybe they did a new DvsP and forgot to move the board again.

Younow- I hope that they move to youtube! I rarely get home in time to watch them live (around 3 pm for me). I normally catch the end and then wait to watch on younow or youtube, (phanshows?) I hope that they still record them. Either way younow sucks so much, I hope deppy move for the fans. Not only would they have to pay, but then 90% of the time it is so laggy, why pay for something so craptastic. I guess we will have to wait and see.

After seeing it, it confirmed how much I would rather see them together than apart. Like their content alone is average compared to together, and that goes for both of them. spaceguitar I think they both spoke fairly equally given that Phil was in charge of the gameplay. Next time it'll be Dan running around while Phil does more of the vlogging (Phil honey do your job and get some butt shots ).

Honestly hope DP leave Younow with the new policy. They already are projected to make big bucks with the tour and the book so why not move platforms. They are one of the only Youtubers that stayed true to the free liveshows and changing that, then announcing the second book might not go down too well with the Phandom.

Also Dan is almost to 6 million subs!!

Vyou1 was going to start remaking highlights of the liveshows? That would have been amazing, I missed her highlight videos! I think I ruined myself by watching Pewds and Peejs videos that day whilst waiting for Deppy to upload because on first watch I got a little bored of them playing it. The bit with the kids though was super cute, I watched that bit about 3 times, Dan was so soft with them it was lovely. I think I need to rewatch it again today and emmerse myself into it properly. Literally loving Pokemon go so I reckon another watch or three and I'll be more interested. Dans outfit though, nopeitynope haha!
