Okay I find it funny but her promo of the liveshow kind of soured me, why not just leave it as a joke? with that tweet it just feels like a ploy to get attention and then shove in her promo
hopefully someone can convince me that she's actually not doing that bc I thought that was icky

Yeah, I mean, it would be simply awful if someone was always mentioning furries, wouldn't it, Dan?

I'm not even surprised anymore tbh with these furry mentions (well, this is rather a confirmation judging by Dan's response).melon lord wrote: Okay I find it funny but her promo of the liveshow kind of soured me, why not just leave it as a joke? with that tweet it just feels like a ploy to get attention and then shove in her promo![]()

I don't believe that she made the tweet under the pretense of promoting her liveshow, that seems to be a half-joke. However I'm cringing very hard that she made this tweet. It was for attention, unless Dan was joking she's kind of "outing him" about this (if he isn't already technically "out"). She's doing this without his consent and it feels weird she would post it, obviously for attention. Also, can we drop this presumption that she has some sort of best friend relationship with Dan and knows about phan? If she posts something so personal and embarrassing about him she's hardly trustworthy or friend material?
I'm torn. If she is joking then I think it's funny BUT if she isn't and just said something personal (because I honestly can't tell- especially with Dan's first tweet) then I don't think it's cool to expose him - even if he does joke about it all the time.

He probably at least has some people he still occasionally messages or DMs but I don't think he has his own version of Ian a person he'll make specific effort to travel to see and who he would still to this day class as being a close friend.
Interestingly as well as school and uni friends Dan also seemingly lost touch with the majority of his early YT friendships. And I do wonder if some of the friendships he does still have (like Cat and PJ) are mostly maintained by Phil.
Dan may just not be good at maintaining friendship (I'm sure his said this about himself but he is of course an unreliable narrator).
He has moved around a bit which does make it difficult, I know I personally suffer from out of sight out of mind syndrome when it comes to the friends logistically I can't see regularly. I often put off seeing them as it just seems like effort but then when I do see them I remember that I do in fact like them and they are worth the effort (but then I forget this the next time making the effort comes around).
Maybe Dan has a bit of that (for everybody but Phil obviously... although he no longer lets Phil go out of sight long enough for this to be an issue).
Or maybe he just genuinely doesn't like most people he meets in his life to think they are worth the bother. Which is fair enough really.
I would put money on the fact she is definitely just joking. I mean honestly if Dan is a secret furry I doubt he'd have confided that in Louise for her to have any inside knowledge to give away but even if he had I really don't think she'd be cruel enough to out him on twitter to promo a liveshow of hers.Amiaw wrote:I'm torn. They tease each other a lot and seem pretty comfortable about it. I wouldn't worry.melon lord wrote:Okay I find it funny but her promo of the liveshow kind of soured me, why not just leave it as a joke? with that tweet it just feels like a ploy to get attention and then shove in her promo![]()

TBH I'm not sure, is there a lot of crossover audience? I think Louise is a cool person, but I don't really watch her videos much.
Just some #bants between friends, IMO.

Not saying this has any implications but I ended up watching the LS (nosey af) and Louise mentioned the tweets a few times like maybe he is/maybe he isn't I don't actually know, that Dan was the one who told her what a furry is, she has checked a few times to see if he had replied which he hadn't and she joked I hope he isnt annoyed at me but if we never hang out again here is whyPhilsEyelash wrote:They tease each other a lot and seem pretty comfortable about it. All seems in jest though but there is some crossover audience based on the fact people in comments kept asking about the tweet/dans replies.
Tbh all of this means nothing but thought I would inform
ETA: At the end everyone in comments is saying Dan has replied, but he hasn't and she has asked for a screenshot

It's not her original tweet, I'm gonna assume it's all in good humour since in her Not Worth Watching vid Dan joked about trying to let the internet know he's a furryPhilsEyelash wrote:They tease each other a lot and seem pretty comfortable about it. it's that she replied to his tweet with a promo that made me annoyed, like #friendlybants oh yeah I have a liveshow btw check it out! #spon especially since her liveshows are relatively recent (someone in the Gleamers thread said how a lot of Gleamers are turning to liveshows?)

The worst thing is, I feel slightly more educated about the furry fandom having seen that video - it wasn't the weird kinky crap I thought it was. Now, I don't think I'd feel that disturbed if Dan said he was a furry.Amiaw wrote:I'm torn. Aside from that, I feel like she must be joking and honestly I think Dan is just using it as a running joke to troll us. His reply was exactly his kind of dry, sarcastic humour and I'm surprised we're considering taking it as proof!
Also, it's likely she did it to spice things up a little but I reckon she must regret it now the phannies are trolling her liveshow. I wandered over for a minute or two and every few comments was about dan being a furry.

can i ask why some people here believe dan to be an "unreliable narrator"? i'm curious bc i don't understand how someone's own experiences about their own life can be considered "unreliable" - it's dan's own life, surely he must be the most reliable narrator there is about the thoughts and feelings he has towards events in his life both now and in retrospect.
(i'm not targeting this to you specifically, pearshaped34 btw. your post just reminded me that some people on this forum have this idea, and i was confused which is why i brought it up.)

Yeah, it seems to be a new trend. Personally, I feel that liveshows are one of the main things (other than phanservice, ofc) that keeps Dan and Phil afloat on Youtube, I think they could be irrelevant now if not for the liveshows and their regularity. The Gleamers seem to just go live when they feel like it and I don't think that's the way to go about it. Maybe Dominic has joined the phandom and has decided to push liveshows on all his minions.melon lord wrote:PhilsEyelash wrote:melon lord wrote:(someone in the Gleamers thread said how a lot of Gleamers are turning to liveshows?)

Yeah the kinky side of furrydom is a bit outcast as one of the cats mentioned, the "clean" furry outfits require a lot of crafting and materials and know-how to make them look nice, although I still understand why it can come across as creepy
I think Dan is being dry and British with his humour, but still, promo icked me out
Dan has mentioned furries for ages now it's not like she posted a gay romance video and had the same caption
well watching Louise's livestream and she keeps mentioning that Dan didn't reply and she hopes he is not mad at her. #drama000dia000 wrote:I'm not even surprised anymore tbh with these furry mentions (well, this is rather a confirmation judging by Dan's response).melon lord wrote:

The question wasn't directed at me, but my take on it is that people with depressive or gloomy outlooks on life (sometimes medically related to depression, sometimes not), tend to see the world through a bleak lens, discounting all the good things and focusing on / magnifying the bad things.silverwinter wrote:can i ask why some people here believe dan to be an "unreliable narrator"? i'm curious bc i don't understand how someone's own experiences about their own life can be considered "unreliable" - it's dan's own life, surely he must be the most reliable narrator there is about the thoughts and feelings he has towards events in his life both now and in retrospect.

An unreliable narrator is a term in fiction, so it doesn't necessarily always apply to real life, (I think?), but the idea is the same. If someone always sees the dark side of things maybe they're not remembering with 100% accuracy.
Depression can make everything dark, but also, some people really just struggle with looking on the bright side, without necessarily having mental health issues they deal with. (IDK if Dan does or not...I have at times and it can make it hard to see bright things in the world even if there are just as many as the dark things, or more.)
Well that's just some thoughts of mine on the subject. Not judging Dan tbh. It's hard for me sometimes to think of happy times in the past, too.
<--- supposed to be working tbh

I DOUBT he's offended; he's joked about furries for years now, goodness gracious. So someone makes a joke about him being a furry and suddenly he would be like whoah we don't talk about that?

I enjoyed that Furry exchange.
Still not sure if he actually is one or not. At the least he seems interested in it imo.

Nobody did, except when it is heavily implicated and referenced the actual plausibility if it becomes more likely.malday wrote:

Tbh I know everybody has kind of trivilised it, but I agree that what Louise did wasn't very nice and for cheap attention (more reason for me to personally dislike her). Also, while Dan does joke about furry stuff, and makes references...he also makes male attraction mentions and in a similar situation where she could have sent him a lgbt video we would be feeling very differently right now. I just don't like the fact she did it.

Just being curious, for years? I thought it was a 2016 thing, with the Diss Track being the height of it IMO. Does anyone remember the first time Dan said the F-word?melon lord wrote:
