I squeed when I saw that we got a new baking vid. So much excitement.

I have so many emotions after just watching it, that was one bizarre ride. Loved it though, definitely made me laugh a couple of times.

Yes to Easter Baking. What a great video! Was not expecting that at all.
It was just domestic bliss. Not overly sexual (as it is on Phil's channel) but it was still lovely. I loved the outfits. Phil really does suit blue hair!



Except for the actual baking itself. What a massive fail. Completely not how you make meringues. They said they under whisked them but they over whisked them when they added the food colouring especially the yellow colouring. Totally going to make them tomorrow and hopefully not cock it up like them.

HEY guys I'm on mobile so sorry if anything comes out weird lol. I'll be gone for about 2 days at my aunts and probably won't be able to check the forum that much so try not to leave me in the dust ;o; I loved the pastel baking video though! It was adorable and I love love love their pastel personas. There's just something about them that's.. special lol. I can't explain it. I'm kinda cringing at how the meringues turned out though becausd I wasn't used to see meringues like that... I usually see meringues as something more swirly? Like a neat swirl, so... yeah...

Yes, especially in the beginning! Think it was because Dan didn't stand straight. Still very cute though.

The video was super nice, I replayed Phil dropping the lemon 2882 times it was so funny. And the result was so freaking ugly oh my god.

This seems to encapsulate something fundamental about their relationship. (Or maybe that's just my headcanon. ) Phil seems a bit rough and clumsy, and Dan absorbs it without flinching (though sometimes with screaming).

B) I definitely have more to say, but like... for the half second that the camera is turned around at 12:10, is it just me or is the kitchen basically empty? The counters have nothing on them and all the shit they had piled on top of the cabinets is gone. K. I'm gonna go finish the video now.

Watching this video kinda felt a little bit like I was intruding. I just think they had some top notch bants and it was just so nice and God I enjoyed it so much. The mpreg comment was so funny, as was "feed me Easter daddy". I love how aware Dan is of what demon phannies want and he's just been playing into it and its yielded some hilarious results.
I also loved them roleplaying as the bunny decorations.

Also, I think someone else on this forum has mentioned it, but I definitely think Phil has been going to the gym and lifting weights. His shoulders/arms are looking especially meaty these days, he seems to be wider up top, and it looks like he can't even button that blue shirt anymore. I compared it to the thumbnail of the last baking video where he buttoned up the blue shirt and I honestly think he's so much more buff-looking than he used to be. Honestly I'm all for it. I don't know he could have gotten more attractive but he succeeded

The end result of the baking, my god. Maybe the clouds tasted okay, but the rest look like they have the texture of melted plastic. To be fair I'm sure any meringue I make would be just as bad, I'm even more worse in the kitchen than they are.
What a good excuse to bring back the pastel outfits.
Could've done without the screechy musical interlude with the bowls, though. :wtf: Phil's face at 3:00 says it all.

I found this video quite underwhelming, actually! I've thought a bit about why, and come up with some reasons:

1) It's not that it wasn't funny or entertaining, but it wasn't extraordinarily so. It was just...fine. And, based on past baking videos, I've come to think as baking videos as Big Funny videos where Big Things happen, and that didn't feel the case in this one.

2) We've been getting so many significant things/content recently, that perhaps this video no longer holds the weight that it once would have. There's too many things that have been happening (eg/ cute vacation photos, calm DAPG videos).

3) They seemed tired to me? I think because they were hardcore churning out all the content they needed while they were on vacation, this probably became less of a fun spontaneous time (like 2016 halloween baking) and more of a "People will like this, so let's get this done."

So won't be in the baking video hall of fame for me...which is totally fine! I still enjoyed it, but perhaps my own expectations tripped me up

I wasn't crazy about the blue wig before, but I think I've been converted, despite it not fitting right Dan looked lovely in his pastel attire as ever
I wasn't really feeling this one today, and I cringed more than a few times, but that might be down to me being in a bad mood. Usually a D&P video lifts my spirits but I couldn't get as into it today. But I'm glad people here enjoyed it, and as a terrible baker myself, I'm impressed they attempted meringues! I'll come back to it when my head's in the right place.

At first I thought they were making lemon meringue pie and was pretty confused when they just started piping the meringue onto the baking sheet lol. Are meringue treats strictly a European thing? Ive never even heard of them before

I 100% agree with all your points. I was trying to understand why I didn't enjoy this video as much as I enjoy the others and I also think it's because we tend to see the Baking Videos as iconic, kind of like we see PINOF, in the way that it seems like something special happens in every one of them, and sometimes even the videos themselves, in my mind at least, pop as 'the video where THAT happened'. When we look at this video I don't think there was a particular moment or instance which provided that 'wow' reaction.

It was a very 'produced' video in a way for me? I felt like it was almost kind of a repetition of previous ones: the same jokes, the same reactions, etc etc. It didn't have the usual 'oh we are just seeing dan and phil being cute and funny' vibe but more the 'oh ok this is a baking video oh ok they are going to make that joke blablabla'.
I feel like I'm being very overcritical ahha, it wasn't a bad video, I just didn't love it as much as I love the other ones! I think also the fact that we have been having such great videos and moments recently makes this type of video which before seemed very important feel like just another one. I'm sure it was also because it was filmed more quickly than the others due to the Australia trip and why they looked more tired (for me at least).

In regard to what someone pointed out before, I also thought that the kitchen looked quite empty in those 2 seconds of video we could see behind their backs: didn't they usually have bottles and etc on top? *moving*
