I'm not actually here, I'm just skimming. I'm totally still on set and can't pay attention to everything and I want to respond to so much stuff and make long rants, dammit.
BUT! I just wanted to do a quick drive-by and report in reference to the dreams comments.
I've been having D&P dreams at least once a week for the past 6 months. It's really...awkward.
Some of them are just friends hanging out, some of them a little more complicated. Last night's in particular was a rather sexy dream. I usually wake up with sort of a "....huh." emotion.
Dan & Phil Part 3: Abs and Angst
A quick google search of 'Phil lester haircuts' gives me .. very similar haircuts
Obv he should do as he damn well pleases but if i had a vote it'd go to a ginger hairdo, maybe with a cool quiff
So this video of jimmy0010 grabbed my attention:
oh now i get it. Why do you have to remove the s in https to get a thumbnail? Weird
Regardless of your opinion of him, do you think this accurately portrays how spons work? I mean he's talking about transcripts that get viewed and edited by the sponsor. I was surprised by the amount of control that gets exerted on the creative process. I naively presumed that companies would just ask youtubers to make a vid 'around' their brand, maybe with the inclusion of one or two taglines. "Why don't you review your favorite anime or eat a lot of our delicious cookies", something like that.
It's hard to imagine crunchyroll telling Dan to get naked with the haru pillow for example
But by getting involved into D&P on this level my eyes have definitely been opened to how influential the business side of things are on their content and how they represent themselves. The more you think you know them, the more you realize you don't know them
It makes sense, we're talking about peoples livelihoods after all.

Sounds great tbh. I would suggest we go through a series of ink blobs to get to the deeper meaning of these dreams, but all you would see in the ink is anywaycora808 wrote:I'm not actually here, I'm just skimming. I mean, I think he's portraying it truthfully for a YouTuber who has a 100k subscribers. (And it's a fascinating insight!) But like, I do believe that you'd have hella more wiggle room with a brand as huge names like dnp are, because regardless of what you make, the exposure of your brand's gonna be massive. And I think that's not only compensated by money, but also by the amount of freedom you have.Stakhanov wrote:A quick google search of 'Phil lester haircuts' gives me .. very similar haircutsObv he should do as he damn well pleases but if i had a vote it'd go to a ginger hairdo, maybe with a cool quiff

Hair dresser topic: I'm sure they both go to the same hair dresser
Ad's topic: I'm sure they have the freedom to make their add video whatever they like, in the case of crunchyroll, and maybe they have to show certain aspects of the game in the Dragon game. But they have a big amount of subscribers, so I suppose the companys that paid them give them the freedom because they know the visist to the video are guarantee.
Dream topic: I'm still jelous of all of you who have normal dreams.

Secondly, I feel like the YouTuber still comes up with most of the content in the video. If I were a company, I wouldn't care what the video was like, as long as it represented my brand in a positive way and an effective way. So, pretty much, as long as they say my brand's name somewhere and describe it and the benefits, then I would be getting my money's worth, so I wouldn't care what the rest of the video was. (I mean... unless there was something completely horrible about it.)
I suppose it depends on the brand, maybe some have a more controlling way of dealing with things.

I think he might have just been fed up with Phil and didn't want to do the same hair style anymore, so he didn't tell him where he went
Also as far as I remember Dan went to the same hair dresser
[offtopic]I wouldn't go as to say my dreams are normal, but they are very exciting. They're a lot like sci-fi/fantasy books or films and usually involve a lot of conversations and crazy themes. [offtopic]A dream topic is a great idea. Do you feel like your written records of the dream manage to capture you feeling you had while dreaming it? Sadly i rarely remember my dreams nowadays, the memories just disappear right after i wake up. I used to have very vivid, very surreal dreams like you, with a lot of bizarre themes and elements that just made me smile when i woke up. Sweet dreams to all, i'm out

Yes to everything in this post. We need a new DITL video and a behind the scenes tour video like asap. I also have everything crossed.manged wrote:I already know I'm gearing myself up for disappointment, but at some point in the liveshow, Dan reads out a message about DITL touring and then quickly brushes past it by saying he doesn't know what the acronym means. PLEASE GOD I WANT A TOUR DITL SO HARD
Fabrice didn't move that far at all (next road I'm told) so I'm sure Phil can find him if he really wants too.

i would personally bribe Fabrice to cut the fringe "by accident". Thanks for the video it was informative: like many of you have said I think, while the process works like that, the big names on youtube , especially youtubers that are more difficult to reach like D&P, have much more room.
If you think about the beauty guru community there are spons that are quite badly made and others that are good from the same brand, also I can't not laugh at the picture of an important figure in cruchyrool seeing Dan stroking
My only question now is if he was paid a few thousands (gonna assume 3000-5000£) how much D&P got?
Hairdresser; I can't believe that they don't share a hairdresser...also can't he go to the salon and inquire about him? was he blacklisted?

Update on Fabrice: There is literally only one Fabrice hairdresser that shows up that works in London. The only other one is a french guy.
I went to the London guy's instagram and there isn't much... the photos are pretty weird, actually. Does anyone remember exactly when Phil said that Fabrice was leaving? I could jump back to there on the instagram and see if he posted anything.

Phil said in the ls that he asked but that they told him that they can not give him that kind of information... weird... maybe cause he went to a competing saloon or something so they don't want to promote competition...corn flakes wrote:Hairdresser; I can't believe that they don't share a hairdresser...also can't he go to the salon and inquire about him? was he blacklisted?

The prob with those two gents is that it appears they've both been at their respective salons for while (based on their client reviews), so neither was a " recent arrival" if they bailed from another salon, as Phil is suggesting. So maybe you're right, Fabrice just ditched Phil. Or, it's Phil trolling the Phandom, to keep our focus on a red herring instead of some more fruitful (and interesting) digging.

Yeah I'd advise against linking to anyone specifically or leaving people's full names... the intentions are good but I'm a little bit afraid the phandom might descend en masse on some more unsuspecting guy, and I'm not sure that situation would really end up benefiting anyone.
