I am no fan of Shane at all, but i can't relate to the visceral negative reaction this vid's been getting. Shane's a gossip monger biatch, that's what he is. Yes so he talked about Deppy. He, and many others, regularly gossip about other vloggers relationship as is. With selections of a few particular types of youtube entertainment, Yotubers are *reality show stars* with all that it entails.

Although I suppose the phandom, this place included, always puts Dan and Phil's ~mysterious relationship on a pedestal and gets crazily protective over it. LBR they probably got a bunch of new phans from that vid of Shane's and absolutely zero harm was done, yet people are talking about some dramatic strategies of dealing with it. I'm sure there will be plenty of mentions in the chat, but as great as he was with the onision thing, I imagine it would be much more stressful for Dan in this case (whatever deppy's actual relationship are, but who am I kidding, I'm phan trash) and it wouldn't be pretty

You really can't understand a visceral and negative reaction to somebody discussing something that could basically amount to outing other human beings? Or their private relationship? Gossiping privately is one thing, airing 'gossip' from a position of perceived authority (fellow YTer with mutual friends) to an audience of millions is something else. But I haven't watched the video, won't watch it, maybe that's way off base. Like 'gossiping' about Beyonce and One Direction isn't the same thing as gossiping about regular YT people he shares a platform with. But yeah, I'm probably drawing arbitrary lines because D&P are kind of on a pedestal, since I'm more invested in them as actual people, whereas actual (nonYT) celebs seem more like fictional people-- but they literally won't ever see Shane's idiotic content. D&P will hear all about it though, and it just feels gross.

Either way, Dan will ignore it entirely, or just say he hasn't seen the video the chat's spamming and move it along.

If his video constituted anything close to outing I would agree. But not only does he make sure to point out its all speculation, he also speculates that phan isn't real, aka the opposite of outing.

He also brings up a bare couple of old tweets that anyone with any interest in Deppy could google up in 15 seconds.

Youtubers are reality show stars. Youtubers speculate and throw shade about each other all the time. ughhh i went online to watch the phil video but instead ended up hearing about the shane one first. (i haven't watched it, only read the transcript, because i don't want to give him my view. pettiness, yay.) he's not outing them, yes, but he's accusing them of manipulating their audience in front of his own huge audience in a tone that basically demands either confirmation or denial by painting any ambiguousness as morally reprehensible. which i personally think is sending a really messed up message.

i'll watch the phil video now and hope it'll distract me.

Although Shane didn't actually out them and I'm guessing he only included the silly evidence on purpose to not out them.... that was uncomfortable to say the least. I truly believe he thinks they aren't together because I can't even comprehend why you would make a video like that if you thought they could be together but still it was bold to say the least. I found that, Shane addressed the “conspiracy theory of phan” abysmally, did a surface level, 9 year old Instagram phannie level of “research” and made a bullshit profound conclusion. This whole thing feels weird for me, just by how he has made this, and how little effort and exposure he has put into deppy in this video, neither placing them in the thumbnail, and does not provide even any anti-phan evidence. Shouldn’t anti-phan proof be there at a google search? It’s as plentiful as phan, yet he did not even provide. Instead, based on shit surface level observation made the decision by his own observation that they’re queerbaiting!?! He just felt like it. He’s done such a shit job, that I nearly believe he’s done this just to get the phandom from suggesting it in the comment sections, do it half-assed, and then nobody will ask about it again.
I'm kind of annoyed that he has reduced them to queerbaiting, rather than any other possibilities such as them being just friends and the phandom overthinking their interactions, of them being a closted couple, or them being bi/gay individually but not together? Instead he has demonized them, accusing them of queerbaiting and tricking the phandom for the lolz without any substantial proof.

He did a build-up of “thems the facts” and without any warning, ended it with, “but they’re queerbaiting tho :/ “ what kind of shit conspiracy theorist has Shane been reduced to? I’ve watched nearly every single one of his conspiracy videos, aside from the recent few due to being busy with school, and he’s never been THIS dismissive and rude about a person or subject before. He full on fucking supported and believed in LARRY and went into very detailed information about it, saying why he believed it !!

The very deliberate surface level, shit theorising and evidence he’s done is a blessing that none of his casual audience will become aware, but also fishy.

Saying that they were queerbaiting for the lolz and shitting over their phans, is disrespectful to deppy themselves, and makes no sense when compared to Shane’s prior kiss-ass attitudes to deppy, and alluding to phan, “nobody knows” and everybody thinks they’re secretly a couple…” What I’m getting at, is that Shane’s behaviour seems indicatory of some ulterior motive. Maybe he feels as if deppy have ignored him too much, particularly if he has asked to collab? (if Shane goes to London sometime in the next month, let’s say). Or if the Pyshic Twins, let’s say, say Phan isn’t real. While they did not say this, they say that deppy have turned down doing a collab with them (why wouldn’t they) and accuse them of having something to hide. Maybe Shane wants to defend them, defend his self-spiritualism and feels that the Twins find them fishy, he must find them fishy, as a result.

Maybe, what I also think, is the most likely scenario, is that he feels as if he’s doing a justice. Maybe he feels personally attacked by the idea of queerbaiting, the way he has addressed it, not confirming anything, instead giving a surface layer approach to “phan”, he hasn’t found any proof himself, out of laziness probably, and has resolved that it is merely queerbaiting. While the way he approached the subject and bashing deppy, was sickening. But maybe he is actually making a valid point. While other YouTubes are riding the wave of phandom attention when mentioning phan positively, Shane is attempting to lift the veil from our eyes and do us a favour of revealing “THE TRUTH.” I believe that he thinks that he’s doing good, that he thinks he’s the one that is being right by “calling them out” and being a drama queen that he is.

The things Shane presented in his video were ALL taken from the conspiracy video made by a different youtuber(interesting that shane skipped the "breach in the laws of biology" answer that she included). If any drama arises he could always just say he was commenting on the theories another youtuber (who is apparently a phan and shipper) put forward.

Forgive me if this is off topic or if its already been addressed, but I've been noticing a youtuber named "LazyJamie" reacting to Dan and Phil videos and he posts these constantly. It honestly seems he's just using the Phandom to try to get views...
What's the general consensus among phans about this guy? I'm not crazy about him.

I feel SUPER uncomfortable that Shane used screenshots of Dan's old tweets/formsprings from 2009 that were obviously deleted for a reason, and Dan has actually said on more than one occasion that he does not want people spreading around those things. Whether Shane "believes" the "theory" or not, him disclaiming that he's not trying to "out them" does absolutely nothing. Because what if they are together- and now with this video presented to Shane's 9 million subscribers, they feel pressured and cornered into coming forth with their status despite them feeling unready? I would not expect Shane, as someone who struggled with his own sexual identity, to make statements that insinuate that Dan and Phils relationship is "queerbaiting". I sincerely hope that was not his intention when making the comments he did. The fact that he posted this video without either Dan or Phil's permission (unless of course, he got it) is fucked in my opinion because it is not only incredibly disrespectful, but an extreme invasion of their privacy. Shane said he wanted privacy between him and his boyfriend Ryland, why not give Dan and Phil the same privacy? Imagine before Shane had come out of the closet, a Youtuber with 9 million subscribers made a video questioning his relationships and sexuality? I am SO skeeved out by this whole thing.
