He is... definitely having some fun with this one. Ngl, I find it fucking hilarious, live your truth under the guise of a Halloween costume, Dan.

The worst part about this whole thing is the 00s MySpace lingo. Too many memories... dark times.
Never thought I’d see the day where he’d tweet XD again

Lmao I love him, this is the Dan I wanna see, not taking himself seriously with something fun! Owo indeed!
Now, where's Phil. I wish he did a matching fursona as well, but I know he won't sadness and despair

Will probably never be over the BONCAS and the beauty of Phil Lester.

Literally me except like 2002 onwards. I used so many cringy emoticons and did so many stupid things.ratlad wrote: Thu Oct 25, 2018 8:06 pm furries are cool, but he's just reminding me of my dark internet days in 2008-2012
I'm happy to see Dan having fun but he should pay me for the violent flashbacks from that era of the internet.
the funniest part to me is the header. the slothbear with his hair edited onto it, the "shut up i'm watching anime"
Truly a work of art
Does anyone know if a fan made it or if he did it himself?

@KatjaZoe Fans made both the icon and header:

The best part about this is watching people fall alone battle lines: applauding Dan, or vowing to pretend he doesn't exist until Nov 1.
thank you! i think it was something to do with how much fun dan seemed to be having the entire video, and phil being a good sport and going with the flow. very sweet and husband-y.rizzo wrote: Thu Oct 25, 2018 9:30 pm i gotta know. what about the driving video in particular got you?

and then i watched the mukbang and then youtube started recommending all the 'dan and phil cute moments' compilations that i'd missed over the past 3 years and now here i am again.

Dan is so cute. I’d totally rub his slothbear tummy, looking for nuzzles indeed (nuzzling was a cute thing in Cats the musical fanfic too).

I’m mostly seeing the disowning him on Tumblr. I find it kinda cute, maybe I shouldn’t. Like I have no idea if you’re joking or not @flarequake. I don’t have a furry past or other ‘cringe’ internet stuff soalittledizzy wrote: Thu Oct 25, 2018 9:32 pm The best part about this is watching people fall alone battle lines: applauding Dan, or vowing to pretend he doesn't exist until Nov 1.

I'm firmly on team 'this is fucking adorable, keep it forever' but I also have a soft spot for furries in general. I don't know if any of you attend conventions regularly but there is nothing like the magic of seeing a kid wide eyed looking up at basically a cartoon come to life. And all the furries I see at cons are genuinely just the sweetest and will be unendingly patient with curious kids who want to play with them or ask them questions. (And then get down at the furry raves, which like, if you're willing to dance until 2 am in that heavy a costume you've earned your fun.)autumnhearth wrote: Thu Oct 25, 2018 11:27 pmI’m mostly seeing the disowning him on Tumblr. (I googled fox bear and got some mixed results.) The art looks like a fox with the eclipse marking. Also I totally thought he made the banner.
I also think as much as Dan teases about furries that his interest is genuine and I'm all about him cutely embracing the concept, even as a joke at Halloween.

Oh, I’m serious about cutenesss, Dan’s the cuddliest as a human already. I was in the Cats fandom which crossed into furrydom so I knew a bit about it, had some arty friends into it too.

Good good, thanks guys. I was feeling bummed about how it was being received, but maybe that’s just part of the inside joke and it’s all good natured. Speaking of foxes it looks like I won’t be getting one for my birthday, as only the XS is available. I hope it and Lion are back in stock before the holidays.
Six months since I last posted on here, when the conversation was about Dan, and whether he is/isn't a furry or not. Never did get round to saying what I wanted back then, thanks to anxiety. After seeing "Danyiff Howl" appear on my twitter feed, my first thought was "I wonder what they're saying on IDB?" So, back again, this time for good I hope.
It's obvious he's having great fun with this, and I agree with @alittledizzy that, despite all his teasing about furries, his interest is genuine. Otherwise, if he isn't a furry, his commitment to this long-running joke (that many think stale and tiresome now), is impressive. Especially when he's dropped other parts of his branding, like "danisnotonfire/llamas/placenta" etc over the last 3-4 years.
@autumnhearth: Anything involving furries on the internet usually gets a less than welcome response, even if for the most part it's exactly as @alittledizzy says, a wonderful community filled with talented, kind people from all walks of life. From what I saw of comments on Twitter (not sure about Tumblr), there wasn't anything particularly negative, thankfully. Just seemed to be people joining in on the fun (some furries too!), with the usual "I'm unstanning/Dan please stop" type comments whenever he mentions something furry related.

i actually am fascinated by fursuits/the art that goes into the hobby! a lot of the costumes are adorable tbh. i think a lot of people are joking when they poke fun at dan being a furry but still appreciate the dedication. of course you don't gotta have a fursuit to be one, some just wear tails or ears. i'll let y'all in on a little secret: i had an 'OC' that was a bumble bee/human hybrid when i was younger. some may consider that as a fursona, idk, but i was 10/11 years old or something. i get the appeal of it! i'd make little animations of it on my DSi, it was fun.
furries are cute, nobody can change my mind.

Welcome (back). Don't feel hesitant to post your view, otherwise what's the point of this whole siteSathu wrote: Fri Oct 26, 2018 1:06 am Six months since I last posted on here, when the conversation was about Dan, and whether he is/isn't a furry or not. I think the fact we're all talking about Dan's furry-themed post again proves that it works in gathering attention and keeping an audience engaged. Which was his primary aim. We were all waiting for the twitter change and spooky week and Dan has now obliged.
I don't believe for a minute he's a genuine furry. I think he mostly likes a good joke, has a genuine interest in the fandom and what is it about and also realizes that a lot of people will find his 'spooky themed' tweet about it entertaining. #yiffordan, right?
Though nobody can really know what Dan and or Phil are really into (as a hobby or sexually), the way he talks and tweets about it make it much more likely to me that it is a long running joke. That is how the furry community generally is approached within internet culture (regardless of whether you think that's a fair perspective or not). "Dayiff Howl" is just the xth time in a row he adopted a "scary spoopy" twitter name for Halloween. Just like other years, he came up with one that's intended to be funny. His tweet replies are also meant to be taken as jokes and only further signal to me that this is not Dan seriously self-identifying as part of the furry community, but being entertaining.
I do think he sympathizes with the people of the furry community at large and humor is his way to engage with it. If he would harbor any negative views about furries, it's very unlikely he will publicly voice them.

I really hope they play at least one game that allows Dan to live out his fursona in some way.Phantasy wrote: Fri Oct 26, 2018 2:51 pm Scrolling through twitter tags and apparently it’s #FursuitFriday
