So I managed to record it with no audio because I don't know how to use a computer and it's currently 1am, so I will get on the case and rerecord it tomorrow morning for you all :)
Also much appreciating the love everyone, it's a total miracle that the site even worked it's not supposed to function outside of the UK

OMG Amazing! Can't wait, though seeing Anne Robinson being all "WL" at Philly? :wtf: Hope he gave as good as he got, she targets like a bloody pinpoint laser in that show...
oqua wrote:Hey everyone. So this is kind of an off-topic conversation-starter type question, but I'm curious:

What would be your/our reaction if Phil were to say, in a liveshow, "I'd do ballet," and then say he wishes he had time for more hobbies? Imagine him saying it in the same tone of voice as Dan said it in his most recent liveshow, in response to the same kind of question that Dan was responding to. Would it be more or less exciting/noteworthy/interesting to you? What do you think this says about how you / the phandom views Dan and Phil and/or what you expect of them?
Forgive me but I can't find the LS it's from... anyway. Last year one of them (95% sure it was Dan) told a story of when they arrived at the rehearsal space and was asked if they were here for the ballet rehearsals taking place at the same time. [Insert expected sarcasm/self-depreciating accompanying remarks] - Dan's comments about ballet just reminded me of that. Phil talking about taking up ballet would have reminded me of it too.

NGL though, anything that would help these two with better posture, flexibility and balance I'm all in favour of, but can I see either of them stood at a barre, ever? Not unless it's for a skit/sketch/spon.

I liked the Dan and Phil edit of the YouTube culture song. I have a bit of an issue though. The video focused almost entirely on Dan. Most of the clips were from Dan's videos and Phil only seemed to be there as an after thought.

It's probably just because those were the videos that the person already happened to have downloaded on their computer.

But whatever business decisions they've made, they've made together.

[offtopic]I agree that it's good to be self-aware, but some of the points he makes in the video rub me the wrong way. I hate it when people claim that YouTube was some kind of hub of innovative creativity before challenge and tag videos. We're talking about the website that is famous for birthing the Numa Numa guy and the Annoying Orange. YouTube has never been about high-brow, high-quality content, let's be real for a moment. The romanticization of the past, claiming that YouTubers 'used to have morals' is also extremely tiring. You used to not be able to make money off of YouTube, otherwise people would have been doing it from the start. Morality has nothing to do with it. Also, what's so bad about making money? If you're making money and you're also making fans happy, why does it even matter? I'd happily see TATINOF and throw more money at my two favorite rich, privileged white dudes, because at the end of they day it's my money and they make me happy. How is it any different from spending money on a movie or a concert ticket, which is also lining the pockets of mostly rich, white privileged guys? (The only thing I do agree with is the 'monetizing off of kissing guys' bit...the rampant queerbaiting on YouTube really gets my goat.)
Uploading that song to the platform is pretty ironic tbh... everyone on YouTube is benefiting from this system, including Paint and all the other YouTubers in that video, whether they have merch or not.

Yes, it made me think of that too. I think he was secretly really pleased that the lady thought that, but he tried to downplay it. Idk.

It's his June 30 liveshow, at 3:26 :)

Someone asks, “How was ballet?”
Dan: “Ah yes. We needed a place, a room to do some rehearsals for the Dan & Phil UK Tour coming to a town near you, danandphil.seetickets.com, spon! And the only place we could find at short notice in central London was a dance studio, and, yeah. I arrived and I was like (panting), ‘hi, I’m here.’ I was just out of breath because there were some stairs, but I guess to a normal person it would look like I ran there or something. And someone was like, ‘You! Are you the male ballet lead?’ I was like, ‘Me? really? You’re looking at this, this package, and you assume that I can carry ballerinas as they fly through the air? No. Er, but yeah, that was fun.”

I mostly agree with this. In fact you've summed up a lot of my thoughts really well.

I do think it's important to examine the people that we watch and to consider them critically and discuss their actions and motives from different perspectives (which is where places like this forum can be very handy)

But over all I think there are worse ways to spend money and people who are a lot less ethical than Dan and Phil. And it's ok to just enjoy people who vlog and do silly challenges

It's part of the reason I can't get too annoyed at people who comment PROTIP on everything. Yeah, it's annoying. But it's pretty harmless and it'll go away eventually. And god knows I've done some annoying things on the Internet in my life.

No idea who this guy is but he keeps making videos about Dan and Phil fanfic, it's so obviously clickbait and it's pissing me off. I didn't even watch the whole video because I didn't want to give the guy the satisfaction. I'm hoping he's the next in line to get a DM from Phil.

*Insert list of inappropriate expletives here* You are amazing. I can't wait to see this! Please do let us know when you upload it. The whole fandom will likely fall on their knees before you, maybe even Deppy included lol. I get the impression they have it on a tape or something only.

Wow if you can get it, you will be like a God in the phandom
Funny thing is that I used to religiously watch the WL when it was airing so probably seen Phil on it before without even knowing it was him.

It's funny because i tried to imagine it but I can't. I don't think Phil would ever say that kind of stuff especially not in the voice Dan did.
I guess that's true that I came to expect Dan to share (some of) his feelings on younow. He is really passionate so he will react heavily to some subjects, stay on them for long to have a rant etc. In that sense the tone of voice and the time he spent talking about it didn't feel out of place.
I also have this attitude of "oh Dan, he says a lot of things...", I mean he never expressed any interest for ballet before, as he ever watched one? I don't really believe he wants to do ballet and it cracked me up when he was so enthusiastic about it but with the "i wish i had more times for hobbies" it was quite in character tbh.
That's why overall the sequence was funny and cute but i didn't have me OMG OMG OMG
If it was Phil who said that, that would be a lot more noteworthy because it is completely out of character. I would probably be like "Phil u ok?"

Tbh, I've no idea of the context behind the making of this vid, and only stumbled upon it in some late-night browsing. It's really surreal, and was uploaded less than two weeks before the slew of youtuber abuse scandals -- about when Tom unlisted pretty much all of his videos (I think).

I'd never seen this video before. Great find!

*gag* at Tom Milsom though.

One of my favourite things about this forum and the forum that we were previously from (cough) is when we do projects as a group. Collecting lost videos, the attraction thread, trying to figure out what some obscure and blurry piece of paper in a video/photo says. It fosters a nice feeling of community.

This video was like a course work after attending YouTube School. Everyone should have made at least two,i think, collabs with someone they never collabed. D&P video with Charlie there they make unicorn out of playdoh is a result of this force collabing. Another video that i remember is video of Charlie and Louise trying to draw each over portraits.

[offtopic]I think, to discuss the nature of youtube content, first and foremost we need to realise that the quality of the content is subjective but the purpose of the content is objective. A comedy is for people to laugh, a educational video is for people to learn, a music video is for people to listen to music. Then what is the purpose of a vlog? What is a purpose of a challenge video or a tag video?

What do we want to watch and what should we watch is not always unanimous. And it all come down to one question, should human being ultimately seeking happiness or improvement?

Shall we continue the discussion in this brand new Philosophy Thread?[/offtopic]

Yeah! They held it two times in Youtube space London. They taught them how to use camera and lighting and all that shit. I think it's there D&P and Louise become friends.

Also the reason they went to NY after last year. It's like the "YouTube Creator Academy" ratcheted up a few notches. With some socialising on the side!
