RE: GG threads. I read through most of them before ever making an account (I didn't do them in order though so it's possible some were missed) but for the love of god, for your own well-being, avoid the threads from when TAB/TINOF was announced, everyone lost their damn minds. It really bummed me out reading it back, you'd think D&P had just blown up a damn orphanage.

I had the same reaction when backreading through the book/tour announcements. It was painful. I've had people who feel that way try to explain it but on a basic level I still just can't grasp it warranting that much anger. But I came along much close to book release time and didn't have any negative associations with it at all.

Same, I think I read them around June and I basically just shrugged and thought "I'm probably going to buy the book, they can have my $20 I don't care that much, and the people that do can just... not... buy... it...?" I didn't get it either.
But because of all that, I've never ever seen the announcement video fake fan. I watched their explanation one in the gaming room, but the actual video, I can't do it for some reason. That thread really just freaked me out.

(Although I do agree that them going silent for 24 hours afterward was probably a bad move that didn't help matters. But they were probably freaked the hell out by the reaction too. Everybody needed a nap I think).

Yeah, I actually didn't read any of the Bour threads. They were super depressing.

I think the earliest threads are worth it just for that person/s that claimed to have known DP. Whether they were telling the truth or not, it was fun to read their comments to things. What ever happened to them, did they just stop posting? I haven't read any of the later threads yet.

edit: Can I just say that Canada has a dumb system with regard to dates? M-D-Y and D-M-Y are both used here with no rhyme or reason, so I was looking for Oct 8 and not Aug 10. Honestly what kind of a system is that??? We play fast and loose with our "best before" dates sometimes, it's madness.

When did Phil start pandering to a younger audience?

We all know he was pretty flirty and sometimes a little risque in his early videos, but when did that stop? And was there a specific event we can blame for his more family friendly transition or was it a gradual process?

I remember some radio show (no clue of the date) where Dan said something about a guy looking like a girl in a fan video (he was wearing a wig) and Dan said "All I know is I am sexually confused" and Phil made a hilarious face before it cut away.

I found it I found it! It was from August 2014 (the show with the whole "boyfriend/cactus" incident..@ 1:04:20 for anybody unfamiliar)

I've watched that clip so many times (just the cactus part), he looks so panicked, it's gold. Poor guy. I never knew what it was actually from though, thanks for the full length vid!

i would say mid 2011? (edit: i quickly checked amazingphil and i think late 2011 sounds better) when both he and dan started becoming a lot more popular?
i think he gradually changed when his audience started becoming a lot more younger because youtube started becoming a lot more mainstream
but i'm not one of those very organized people like felucca that can pin point exact events, this is just from the top of my mind and what i can remember from 2011 and i was just a casual fan back then
any phil experts out there want to prove me wrong?

I feel like becoming a youtube partner may have played into that, but I can't find any info on when exactly Phil became a partner to see if the timing matches up. I know 2007 is when Youtube launched the program as a pilot with select youtubers, and Shane Dawson applied but was declined in late 2008 because he wasn't big enough yet. Anybody know? And can anyone pinpoint when Phil started toning down the PG+ stuff?

EDIT: Okay, individual partnerships were added in 2009, which coincides with Phil moving into Manchester apartment, but he may not have been a full Youtube partner yet.

I agree with mid to late 2011, yiu can tell by the thumbnails/titles actually, you will see obvious click bait for teens, thumbnail with Robert Pattison or one direction in it, and titles contain words like "gay".

is it me or does especially dan's voice seem a little higher than his normal 2012 voice?? i could totally be imagining it, but at least to my knowledge he spoke at least a little lower than that. is it similar to other times we've known him to be drinking? if it's a quirk it'd be nice to further confirm/deny possible instances of it (ie: that one liveshow with the definitely-not-spiked ribena and the 'do you know what a fucking bowl looks like' quip) maybe it's the slight slurring but it definitely reminds me of that liveshow for some reason.
