While I'm sure nr. 4 is about Radio 1, I just really want it to be Phil's contribution of

but alas, obviously not.

Kudos to all of you who manage to get more out of the blurry images, I've been playing around with the contrast and sharpening tools for a while now because I really wanted to contribute something but I'm stuck. The bottom half is just impossible. It's really a shame that we're not so annoying as to spam the shit out of them and create a #clarifytherulesdeppy-movement on Twitter. Dan's help would be greatly appreciated but... I guess self-respect and integrity are kind of important traits to hold on to.

I love how the rules are written by Dan, are in Dan's room and seem kind of Dan-centric, yet they both signed them? What's up with that. I get the feeling it was Phil's idea for Dan and he then gave his stamp of approval once it was written.

Or maybe it was Dan's idea and execution, thinking that it would totally benefit the both of them, and Phil just humored him. I wonder if Phil has his own version... Or maybe the blurry, bottom lines are more Phil-centric (because I feel like Phil doesn't need reminders not to stay up past 2am but maybe I'm wrong.)

You guys are such detective! Dan's handwriting looks like chickens scratch my eyes hurt. Is there any chance that 'to do lots' is actually 'to do lists' because that's what my mind jump on when i see it. The word before that looks '_efe_' but i don't really know. The first time i saw it in trashqueen's edit i thought 'meter' cause the first letter looks like m and then i thought the middle look more like f. But it doesn't make sense either way. Though the word before that definitely end in y. So '__y _efe_ to do lists'?

Aug 5th 2013: Chris answers questions on ask.fm, about his career and his life in general. He then deleted his ask.fm account and wrote an apology.

Some of the answers sound quite disheartening. I've got to consider he wrote it in a very emotional mood though and maybe not in the soberest of states. In his apology he explains it all away as a cry for attention and that his feelings had no truth behind them, but i'm not quite buying that.

Some of the comments about Dan an Phil/ youtubing just makes me wonder how much of the real person we really know

oh that's interesting, Stakhanov, that you interpret them that way. I always took those askfm replies pretty much on face value, they don't sound hugely bitter or mean to me. i think it dashed some fan's hopes who liked to romanticise that these 4 guys hung out all the time and knew one another better than anyone in the world, but what he said was pretty realistic and i don't think reflects badly on any of their intentions/motivations. he's not saying what we do see and know is 'fake', just that's it's not the whole story. which should be obvious to anyone except maybe the very young. that's applicable in any life; 'knowing' someone is partly an illusion dependent on what you are exposed to, a judgement or sensation in some respects. add a camera and a stranger and that is magnified.

I assume Chris had genuine fun at times being friends with the other three and seeing them socially, and it appears he still has respect for them, if his recent tweets are anything to go by. the intersection of any pulling away due to depression with the natural tendency for social connections to drift over time can only be guessed. being asked about it constantly when he was (admittedly) very lonely though, would make anyone come across antsy. i don't blame the poor guy.

I remember that tweet. He also answered to the question if the phandom had caused it by saying that it wasn't caused by the phandom, but by his own bad decisions and he makes a lot of them. Something along those lines. So there were really no accusations against
I'd like to know what happened too, but it was probably very uneventful and they just spent less and less time together untill they stopped hanging out completely. And since Chris seems to kind of take the blame, maybe it was him who was less enthusiastic about spenting time together.

I always got the impression that there was some sort of falling out between Dan and Chris. I think I got this from the thread that must not be named. Something about Chris feeling lonely, being bitter about D+P used him for the DITL video, and Dan saying that he should get out more? I'm not sure how people got this impression. This fits with Chris' comment about 'what if I had a massive fight with Phil', b/c if he actually had a fight with Dan, he was being evasive about that.

I agree, they probably not besties that have sleepovers and paint each other's nail, but I do believe they were and are friends, like normal friends.

Now, we will not know why and what happened, but I do get a sense of possible jealousy from Dan and trying to maybe even separate Phil from his friends? That is what I get from his answers and "bitterness".

All of this aside, he is probably answering to a bunch of 14 year olds so he might be snarky about that.

well, dan did stay overnight with pj when phil was away.

this is a generalisation and isnt definite but it wouldnt be a surprise if dan and chris were the least close. if the links (ie who was friends with who) were like this among the four:

then, really, chris and dan had the least connection, just a friend of a friend, even if they were close. it'd be harder to work past a disagreement than pj and chris, or even phil and chris, because theyd have a weaker link.
the fantastic foursome was kind of just through pj and phil, it was set up to create a vyou channel/group, they had that one (free) holiday and met at events. it was just a collection of separate friends, looking back there was never a dynamic as 4, dan especially stuck out a lot

He did seem bitter about fandoms in that time in general though. Like I found apparently at some point, he said that shipping ruined his and PJ's friendship? Which might be an exaggeration, but is heartbreaking all the same. And if that correlates with the time he and D&P had a falling out, maybe he was just in a bad place in general and other friendships turned sour as well. Idk. Hard to tell. Might have to investigate this, it's very strange.

Sometimes I think Dan and Phil just live in the Dan and Phil bubble and 99% of the time are quite happy to remain there with each other for company so all the other friends they have (or had) have to be willing to be the ones to put in the work if they want to remain friends with them and I suspect this can lead to bitterness on the friends part as no one likes to feel like they only friend making an effort.

When there is bitterness expressed by someone they were once thought to be friends with rather then there being some kind of series of secret events that lead to big fallouts I think it may just be a case of Dan and Phil were putting little or no effort into maintaining a friendship and this lead to bitterness and that person expressing the bitterness publicly is then what leads to it becoming somewhat of a fallout as D&P don't appreciate any kind of drama being played out in front of the Phandom.

From what i understood, back then Chris wasn't just pulling away from DnP but from the whole youtube scene. And i thought Dan's comment about 'he need to get out more' was after a fan ask him in his ls what he thought regarding Chris ask.fm answer about them. Chris' comment about the fantastic foursome is what i always thought about the four of them as well. They know each other through YT, then decided to do some collab, doesn't mean they see each other all the time. They're friends but not close friends. But the phandom made a bigger deal about it than it was.

Chris probably wished to really get to know them better or be their close friend, but DnP being DnP who doesn't let anyone get too close to them (unless you're b*rony and/ w*rrow), he probably feel rejected and that led to the ask.fm answer. I think there's nothing really dramatic going on. They probably just drift apart.

Anyway, that's just my theory.

I don't know the ethics of linking back to the other forum or to quote old members on here (so I won't), but so much of the info is obviously there (we need a Crabstickz/DP faq!). I think the last comment Chris made on the whole thing was that he'd just go back to making funny videos and then he went awol, correct me if I'm wrong.

He sounds very formal and straightforward in that post as if not to leave any confusion or doubt in the reader and that they should completely disregard what he wrote on askfm. Maybe he got a stern PM from Phil for making people question the authenticity of YTers. Would explain him going awol, I'd be scared shitless too.

No but honestly, I love Chris, and I'm sure he had valid reasons for answering the questions the way he did and I hope the friendship ended on his intiative and not anyone elses. There are probably several reasons, like internet fame tripping them up, Chris' insecurities and him feeling left out since Dan, Phil and PJ all had other people to lean on, Chris feeling like it was all manufactured (while the others were alright with just meeting up every once in a while) etc. As far as Dan and Chris go, I can imagine there was competition between the two - PJ and Phil could hold their own while Dan and Chris were quite similar - but I really don't think Dan would go as far as to actually have an agenda against Chris.
