no :( it's a surrealist horror thriller set in space, created and directed by phil and written by dan :( starring neither of them, bless their hearts :(
Surrealist horror, um yes please. 'Bless their hearts' yeah they're not exactly seasoned actors. They have the most experience as presenters, and through the BBC, they (thinking mainly Dan with Supergamers, but even their radio excursions to location shoots and interviewing will have honed these skills) have documentary experience. They really don't have any experience in long-form narrative writing outside of tatinof, and even that was a lot of things loosely tied around a story.
Mine through old school Phil videos. Tape 6: The Movie. A surrealist digital short from the POV of Philippa. An updated version of Check Yes Juliet, still musical but with a bigger production budget.

Or they could go pure horror and Dan could just bring back the sexy endscreen dance unironically. I'd be afraid to open my eyes.

Obviously, we don't know much about that relationship nor should we since neither Dan nor his ex have been forthcoming about it... but man, it still makes me think hard about how much of an influence Phil's videos were on Dan, whether or not Dan followed him on social media or was a casual fan, and at what point it turned from entertainment to a genuine enough interest for Dan to reach out and how that intersected with the relationship that Dan was presumably still in at that point?
We'll never get the full picture but it really is maddening interesting to think about. I just had the very strange image of Dan and his gf watching early Phil videos together. Awks.
The thought also crossed my mind, about Dan and his gf watching Phil videos together. I would hope she's living a life completely fulfilled and removed from everything Dan related, given that they dated as teenagers over half a decade ago - but I can't even imagine being in that position, where your ex ends up dating someone they idolized while they were with you. It's so trippy.

I'm glad you mentioned this because I thought it sounded odd but then forgot about it. At first it sounded like maybe he was outside or maybe even looking outside and saw people stumbling around drunk but then when he said he saw people wearing hats and puking it sounded like he was at a party or at a bar and saw this. Which if that was the case- was he with Phil or other friends? I thought this was an interesting story because it's so different than the Dan we see- maybe part of the real "Daniel Howell" is that he is a bar hopper and that's why he's always up really late

I loved this liveshow so much, definitely in my top three of the year so far. I have a somewhat stressful day ahead of me so I'm happy I'll have this to rewatch once or twice.

Firstly, his Vetements sweater... I love it and want it if anyone is willing to donate one to me. If he looks like the Grim Reaper in it, that certainly makes him the cuddliest personification of death I have ever seen.

It surprised me when Dan said he started watching Phil in 2007, I guess I always assumed he discovered Phil's videos in early/mid 2009. In a way the thought of Dan watching Phil for 2 years as opposed to a couple months before they met in person makes it sweeter, but it also makes it a bit weird when you remember that Dan was only 15/16 in 2007 and Phil was 20. It feels like an odd coincidence if Phil only noticed Dan for the first time in 2 years around his 18th birthday, but who knows. And alittledizzy makes an interesting point, that timeline overlaps a big portion (pretty much the entirety?) of his relationship with his ex. Hypothetically if Dan was interested in Phil while he was still with his girlfriend, which seems more likely than before given that information, I can't imagine that being easy for him or his ex if/when she found out to say the least.

The sexuality talk was the nicest part, in my opinion. As someone who fits somewhere in the realm of asexuality but doesn't really feel the need to label myself, it was right up my alley and felt good to hear him say such things I especially liked that he acknowledged that there is a difference between sexual and romantic attraction, a lot of people don't seem to understand or even know that so I'm glad he took the time to educate himself and hopefully it encouraged a couple others to do the same. And I completely agree that while labels can be good to help people understand themselves and each other, sometimes it's only an added stress since sexual orientation can be difficult to define and that can make umbrella terms such as queer much more comfortable.

I could go on about the sexual education talk, how amazing Get Out was and a bunch of other things discussed in the liveshow, but I don't feel like I have anything important to add, so I'll just leave it by saying I enjoy the topics this week

I feel like a secret project being in the works at the moment is a strong possibility, but I couldn't begin to guess what it might be. Are they directing, writing, starring? Is it a short film, documentary, series? Will it be on youtube red, netflix, tv? It's hard to narrow down since that production company does so much. I mean, a series with segments similar to what they did for the radio show and SAP but with higher production quality is most realistic, but I'd be intrigued to see them try something different from their usual content like mysterious short films. Maybe director!Phil and actor!Dan will rise, that might explain why Dan seems significantly more stressed than Phil over whatever's going on

I don't think anyone has pointed this out, but ISG 9 came out almost exactly seven months after ISG 8. Wonder why Dan placed it "almost a year" ago and why no one seems to question that. Well, I guess he could have done that deliberately to make it seem more rare and precious.

My thought was that it was on TV or some livestream online. It certainly didn't sound as though it was something he was part of. Outside his window seems plausible too!

any guesses what they're going to do for april fools day? think it's going to be another DAPCrafts?

I'm kind of hoping they're going to do something different, the novelty of the crafting channel kinda wore off

hugely elaborate, lengthy wedding video, complete with explicitly shot consummation sequences. ends with d&p at home saying 'april fools lol got u' then they never speak of it again

i'd be on board with anything that is documentary, travel series or reality tv style (too bad crunchyroll sending them to japan to taste japanese food never happened). not sure if i want to see them act... "bless their hearts" indeed. as much as i respect their hustle, tatinof was a cringefest not in a good way.

at this point i'm sure that all the apartment talk is just misdirection. or mb not. who knows. maybe they're working on starting something good mythical morning-like so they could never show their flat(s) again.

p.s. can't wait for dan's inevitable scandal in two years

Omg I love the speculation mood this thread has going on and especially this! Them having to camp out in spooky places at night would work as an explanation for the stress and insomnia. It all makes sense now

I'd like to see something documentary style much more than a scriped show tbh. Like somebody else said what makes them special is the spontaneous one-liner humor reacting to something on the spot. I just rewatched Dan's Outlast video the other day and was fascinated how great it is, even without the chemistry of D&P, he's just such a good entertainer, that video is better than most if not any Let's play from gamers I've seen.

I mean I like the skits in storytime videos too, but I think they only work in the context of youtube where it's more of a conversation with the audience and it's clear that it's low-production value and that's one of the things that makes it charming. I don't think it would translate that well for a broader audience with professional production and all.

I don't know which one of these I'd prefer because I enjoy shows in which people renovate houses (one season of Grand Designs was recently uploaded to Netflix and I'm now obsessed with it or Ana White's YouTube channel where they build a house from scratch and document it). Watching Deppy renovate a house together could lead to an incredibly funny show. They would build a house where every window is glass ( ) with a nice koi pond and lots of storage. Except they would never do this because they are very private people

But something similar to SAP and/or a supernatural or true crime show would be so amazing as well. I loved SAP and am so sad I wasn't around when it was a thing and I also love Buzzfeed Unsolved and similar shows. One of these hosted by Deppy or a mix of both or something would make me so happy. I can already hear Dan screaming and clinging onto Phil but Phil freaks out as well yet insists on investigating and then it turns out to be a mouse and they start laughing. Then Dan starts whining: "Why did I agree to this?" "Phil makes me more scared than I'd be when I was alone!". But everyone knows that he secretly enjoys it and would shit his pants without Phil...

Why did you plant those ideas in my head, now I can't stop thinking about them until they eventually reveal that the stressful thing was simply buying a new sofa which they did not document at all.

Oh my goodness I would love for them to do something a la Buzzfeed Unsolved!!! I think they'd be so great at that, and I'd much prefer to see them playing themselves rather than scripted characters. My secondhand embarrassment levels are high (hence I still haven't watched tatinof) so I don't think I could make it through them acting, but I'm definitely here for something documentary-esque!

re: St. Patrick's Day - I just thought he meant he was looking out the window and watching the drunk people on his street, or maybe he was out and about and passed drunk people. I didn't really think anything of it, but I guess he could have meant he was out at a party/bar or something, who knows

to everyone saying a horror show or something like that. I've been in the mood for horror lately, yes please. On another note, are there any hints to them bringing the radio show back? I know that the twitter producer following thing kind of points away from that (or does it? hmmm). My mind keeps going back to something with a talk-show format, given their experience with BBC/SAP, although that may just be me missing the radio show (the pain , it never stops).

captainspacecoat you beat me to it! Something like Buzzfeed Unsolved would just. asdjfdfjkl. I am unhealthily addicted to that series, so if Deppy did something like that it would probably be the end of what remains of my social life.

So I'm like 100% sure Dan and Phil are working on a secret project. Sometime in the week of March 6th, dan started following this managing director for a production company on twitter. This managing director also followed flipside almost right after dan and has been following Phil for ages according to Phil's following. At first I was like oh that's... interesting. Until I noticed that the twitter account for production company followed dan, phil and flipside all at the same time.
All we know is, they're working on something with a production team, which is pretty exciting and might explain the whole "come back to me in five months" thing dan was talking about in his live show from last week and the shifty eyes when saying he knows why he's been so tired. Also, this company honeslty produces everything from what I've seen on their site. From online shorts, to music videos, to documentaries, etc.
Mods, if this isn't ok to post (though all this is literally public knowledge and can easily be found on twitter), feel free to take it down. I wasn't even planning on finding anything like this when I was just looking at Dan's following tab one day. The fact that this Knowledge was quite literally in our faces and no one noticed just leaves me to question, what else has been hiding in plain sight like this?
They're totally up to something! Great observation skills btw.

The company is also based in London, so if that doesn't give any more proof, what will?

I think they're wise to straddle the line between talking about having a project they can't share details on, and also completely 100% burying it like with tabinof... because the Beyonce approach did not work too well with them with the bour announcement.

i think the most plausible explanations at this point are
(a) they're moving and/or renovating their new appartment/house, in which case i'm really happy for them and recognize that it was never on the table to make a documentary series out of that and i can still resort to jimmy's house files for that
(b) they're working on a new, big project, in which case i'm also happy because after all the hints of 2017 to be for "life things" and needing to hibernate after tatinof, it should be fair to say that it's something both of them must be really excited about

conclusion: whatever it is, it seems reasonable to be looking forward to it and i'm more positive about this than anything else in my life lmao

I also think it's fair to say that what might count as a big project for us, content wise, might not seem like a thing on the same scale as what they've been doing for the past two years. Even if it is a series or a digital short, it wouldn't halt the entire rest of their lives like traveling so much did.

Timestamps for Dan's liveshow on March 21
:59 - "Hi. My name is Dan, and that sounded way too much like the start of Hello, Internet."
1:08 - "So I can pretend that I get any social interaction done at all." But this doesn't count as a social event, because he's wearing pajamas.
2:27 - Weather talk; warm to really cold, and freezing today. "Mega hoodie."
2:45 - Longboy; hoodie sleeves that are long are necessary to keep him alive.
3:20 - Waxes poetic on the emotional state of goths.
3:40 - Asked about open university; does not seem enthusiastic about going back and studying again.
4:35 - ISG talk. "It had been nearly ten months since the last ISG." No, it has not been. "That was like, only a few months off of being a year ago." I mean, if you think five months is 'a few' then sure.
5:34 - Asked about hydration and goes on a ramble about how 2016 was challenging and we need to be kind and encourage people in 2017. "We're trying to just be kind and encourage other... each other." Nothing he said made sense. It is definitely a euphemism for fucking.
6:40 - Dan is not wearing yellow any time soon.
6:52 - "A big black mass, the antithesis of color."
7:05 - Bee movie meme. Talks about the new video again, but only in relation to the morse code joke.
8:28 - "I'll probably have to wait another ten months before the next ISG video." You mean, ten months. Not another ten months. Because it wasn't ten months.
9:06 - brony or nah? "I'm gonna go with nah."
9:36 - He and Phil are suitable for someone's little sister as long as they are 42.
10:00 - Dan starts talking about music and I hear that sound Charlie Brown hears when adults talk.
10:20 - Dan gives two people a shout out but merges their names like a ship name, then stops, laughs, and says, "I've started that now. I'm sorry, maybe you don't want to be-"
10:33 - Reads out an 'I met my girlfriend through you' in a mocking high pitched voice, then talks about inspiring lesbian hookups. Then as if recognizing his tone adds, "I know it sounds sarcastic, but I'm not." And then laughs, also sarcastically.
10:55 - Melting Shrek bath bomb.
11:13 - Says there is no emos left, then implies only eleven years old are emos. "Pray for these children."
11:37 - "Your hair is like my sexuality. Whoa! Nice one."
11:52 - Mocking voice when doing an impression of Swedish fans.
12:10 - Strange tangent on sheet washing. He washes his sheets. They smell nice. They're good. If you're having friends 'round, you should wash your sheets. You don't want any people you're trying to impress sitting in your bed with a smelly bed.
13:05 - Maybe he'll rebrand to Daniel.
13:25 - References brand name change again; maybe he'll feel the freedom to decide if he is Dan or Daniel or danisnotonfire.
13:51 - Dan's inevitable scandal in two years.
14:02 - His parents told him he was a funny kid. As a child growing into a teen, if he was funny he ended up being obnoxious.
14:18 - What would Dan's big scandal be?
14:37 - Makes a joke about going full 2007 Britney then spins it into a PSA about reclaiming mental health.
14:58 - A small quiet 'help me' re: still getting people saying 'llamas' in chat.
15:05 - Potential scandal: Hamster trafficking. "No, that's Phil."
15:14 - Potential scandal: Killing Phil for cereal eating. "That's scheduled."
15:54 - Extremely exasperated with people asking dumb questions. (In this case, 'how do you feel about someone with a service dog subscribed to your channel.')
16:40 - re:youtube agegate "It sounds like youtube, uh... they gave a statement saying we'll fix it so it doesn't do that anymore."
17:05 - Sims series discussion.
17:27 - "I'm gonna get 'me and Phil' fucking tattooed on my forehead."
18:39 - "It's a tv show that I'm in control of."
18:50 - Merch spon.
19:10 - "Phil's brother" mention - #dartyn
19:27 - "Phil. Jesus Christ. Um. If you go to the checkout and use the code 'swaglord' I do believe it is, then there's 20% off all t-shirts." Seems genuinely put out over swaglord.
21:00 - "Oh my god. These last two weeks for Dan have been an emotional roller coaster. Physically."
21:52 - Talks about 'Get Out.'
23:36 - Dan's red patch. Blood vessels on his face.
24:03 - Horse Prince game. They're going to finish it in one hour long video.
25:38 - Life is Strange; he would be annoyed if people took it too seriously trying to psychoanalyze the choices they made.
26:55 - I want to hear more about Dan and Phil having dank afternoon tea in japan.
28:00 - Slightly frantic laugh after being asked when the next dinof video is.
28:04 - Cinema experience rant.
28:36 - He is litr-uh-lly gonna write it on his forehead.
28:57 - And then immediately mocks fans for wanting him to do it.
29:14 - Guy was being a disruption in the theater. "Phil was in like, full social meerkat mode, just like having a crisis at this social situation that he felt responsible for." "Phil was just like [incoherent noises]."
29:28 - Says hi to someone's dad.
31:09 - Riverdale
32:25 - Talking about changing his name if he was a music blogger. "Daniel Mysterio."
32:47 - Music talk
33:05 - "Daniel Lester. Good suggestion. *snorts* Oh he did it."
33:08 - More music talk
34:50 - Open University sucks balls. "But whose to say that sucking balls isn't a good thing? Lets not be offensive. Or is it? Who knows."
35:20 - Yet more music talk.
36:41 - Anthony guy discussion.
37:13 - He and Phil caught up with Steven Universe.
38:03 - He 'ships the fuck' out of lapidot. "Lapis Lazuli is me. I've never related more to a cartoon character in my life.
38:50 - He does not want to go onto the corners of the internet with SU ships, despite just loudly and emphatically proclaiming he ships two people on the show.
40:46 - He has watched some of Drag Race, but feels like he needs to watch more of it.
41:15 - He does not rate ham that much, but appreciates that people do. At this point I accept that "I appreciate that people do." "That's valid." "But some people do, and that's fine." etc are just defaults tacked onto everything Dan says in an attempt to avoid anyone being able to call him out on a stance.
43:41 - When did you start watching Phil's videos? "I don't know, back in like 2007 or something. I've been watching youtube since - when was my account created? 2006, 2005. I was watching youtube for ages and there was nothing interesting happening on youtube."
44:33 - He is at an impasse. Phil's finished playing FF 15, but also Zelda is out.
45:19 - Phil told him there are grind-y aspects of FF; I guess this means Dan didn't watch while Phil played? #spoilers and all.
45:40 - Dan liveshow bingo. Take a shot of water.
46:05 - I love this rant on being a critical fan. Preach it, Dan. "I'm allowed to have opinions. Just because you're a fan of something doesn't mean you have to support it through thick and thin. If you're a fan of a band and someone in the band murders somebody, you don't have to support them, okay. You can criticize them."
47:44 - Starts answering questions in a weird voice.
48:00 - "You now is- a good website. That works most of the time." Bite that shade back.
49:15 - He got five A's at AS. (Who is this british boy talking british at me.)
49:45 - He says his viewers don't make him cringe that often, explains the difference in audience between platforms.
51:03 - He doesn't like when people comment on other videos, it embarrasses him.
52:40 - I'm not sure Dan has given a single opinion this entire liveshow without adding "But you should be allowed" or "But that's ok" to the end of it.
53:46 - He would be down to play Dungeons & Dragons. "I feel like Phil would be a good game master. Here you are fighting a dog. The dog takes off their hat, and it is actually a prince dressed up as a dog."
54:07 - He has been irrationally sleepy, and does have an idea why. He ate two apples just to zazz himself. Is this their healthy replacement for sugar loading?
54:33 - Doesn't want to go deep in Undertale theories.
55:00 - Dan does not know how to adult.
56:14 - Dan stayed in side on St Patricks Day and looked at people wearing novelty hats whilst throwing up on the floor.
56:49 - He thinks that it is good to learn about reproduction in a mixed class.
57:05 - "Firstly, non-straight people exist."

59:21- Rant on not needing to define your sexuality with a label. Not gonna type it out since fancybum is the true mvp who already has. But Dan circles around the whole topic of not being straight in as close a brush with directness as he's ever done before.
1:00:50 - "formless blob"
1:01:30 - He likes queer as a good umbrella term for anything that isn't the norm.
1:03:01 - "formless blob" again

literally i heard about that attack in london and the first thing i thought of was deppy? i'm trash i was in a chinese food buffet when it came on tv, so when i saw it i turned to my mom and said "i hope my babies are ok" (dan and phil) and she was like oh, dan and phil? and i was like yeah, and she smiled and rolled her eyes.

but! as for the company related stuff, i'd kill for them to bring back spooky viewer happenings or whatever. it was my fave part of SAP! or some sort of like.. documentary type thing could be cool too? idk
