This video took me from "I enjoy this series" to "holy shit I am here for this."
Their nerves are obvious once or twice when doing the multi-choice questions but they braved it, and actually gave commentary and insight directly back on themselves at some of them. I need to watch it again immediately.

Phew, Phil is hot af in this and I love his voice (also it's ages since he wore that shirt). Heck, I like all their different voices, but Phil's is the best. The bants and commentary were really funny, and some interesting little asides here and there giving some more info about them outside of the game. It was cute how they answered the Dadbook profile questions as themselves. On the parenting front offering therapy when the kid did something terrible is nice and understanding, but too nice when he was being a jerk. I love all the references to books, fanfiction and the MCR song, this game knows everything.

Hello! Came out of lurking to comment on the video. And I say, it was good!
Favorite moment has to be "You say a lot of weird stuff, Phil" and the smile Dan had after that, very soft, much cuteness.
Funniest moment, the fanfic one, I had to pause after it. Also, the MCR reference was fun too, the people who made this game knew what they were doing.
I wasn't too fond of Damien, but now I am a little bit more. I'm curious about the length of the series, they seem to want to date some other dads too, which will make the gameplay longer for sure.

one of my favorite things was phil's insistence on them dating damien lol, he was very into the goth-dad look
(also no spoilers but i really love how damien's storyline goes, so i really hope they continue with him)

my chemical romance is my favorite band of all time (i follow their old rhythm guitar around on tour so like...they are still a huge part of my life haha) so i love all the little references this game has.
honestly i'm getting bored of this series itself but i enjoy the insight that this episode brought us into their lives, at least.
my only concrete thought right now is 1)i'm surprised that neither of them read the cask of amontillado in school, i did at least twice and it's one of my favorite short stories and 2) that pronunciation was torturous.

I wasn't a big fan of the DD series (I enjoyed them but they weren't my favourites) but this one, I loved it!! It didn't even feel like 35 minutes, when it was over I was like "what? so soon??".
Damien wouldn't be my choice of a dad but he seems really interesting now that we saw more of him. The whole garden scene was so cute. I'm almost unspoiled of the game so I'm looking forward to see how the story goes!

Okay this is my firs time engaging in discussion here (I've been a lurker for a while now and I am really shy) but this gaming video.... I just need to fangirl about it without being judged..........
Dan and Phil and the Victorian era in the same video? THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!
I am a HUGE Victorian and Edwardian nerd and the women fashion of those eras is my dream wardrobe so I related SO MUCH to Damien and I just want to marry him myself.
I am also so happy that I knew they were referencing The Cask of Amontillado before they mentioned it (as I said, Victorian nerd and that includes literature)
I'm really happy that Phil insisted on giving Damien a chance (THANK YOU PHIL! YOU MADE MY DAY) and I really enjoyed this video, even if Dan and Phil didn't know much about the era (and honestly I just do because of my silly obsession) they were funny and interesting and I just really love them right now.
(Fangirling over, sorry to inconvenience with my victorian excitement)

add me to the list of people who really enjoyed this. Damien was quite charming (I'm unspoiled for this game), and so were D&P's bants
Also, a moment that stuck out to me:
At 35:05 Dan wonders if Damien is someone to "have tea and read fan fiction with" And then gives a cheeky smile in Phil's direction. Not saying they drink tea and read fanfic together but I'm not saying they don't

Not to take anything away from Phil's eagerness, but a lot of people were asking them to give Damien a chance since they kind of dismissed him after the first meeting, so i think they went with him partly to give people what they want.snokoplasmic wrote: Tue Sep 12, 2017 9:24 pm one of my favorite things was phil's insistence on them dating damien lol, he was very into the goth-dad look

I spoiled myself and watched other playthroughs, but i still really enjoy watching theirs, their bants make it worth it, I think the jokes and wit of this game really fits them, more than any of the other let's players i've watched.
Because they take it seriously but also not seriously, can't put it into words why exactly, but it works well for them.
And i love the little life advice Phil sprinkles in these episodes, he seems way more into it than Horse Prince.

I was wrong about it being something new but I ended up loving this instalment! It was shorter than the others but they spent a little more time reading it and it was an interesting choice as they'd seemed dismissive of Damien before, I'm glad they're giving him a chance. This is probably my favourite of the 3 so far. I kinda hope the next vid is also DD so that they can work on getting more of the series filmed while it's still relevant (and so we're not still watching it come December).
One part that stood out to me was Phil saying "Never go to sleep on an argument, that's my motto." It reminded me of when Neil Patrick Harris and his husband David Burtka guest judged on Season 6 of Drag Race and David said a secret to a good relationship was to "never go to bed angry". Whether you ship it or not, I thought it was sweet
Edit - just saw dizzy reply to an anon about it on Tumblr, glad I'm not the only one who thought this

same for me! it definitely felt to me like they've "warmed up" and found their pace in this video -- the ratio between bants/commentary and just letting the game/dialogue speak for itself was perfect this time in my opinion. i'm also glad they picked damien for the first date, phil's arguing was solid on that and it was full of nice surprises. also definitely growing fond of their end-of-episode evaluation of the dads and hoping they make that a thing.alittledizzy wrote: Tue Sep 12, 2017 9:09 pm This video took me from "I enjoy this series" to "holy shit I am here for this."
how did they not know about the cask of amontillado though? do they not spend as much time on tumblr as they claim? are the secret personal blogs a myth and nowadays they really only spend time in their own tags to keep track of their fanbase?
thank's you were great

made an account just because i loved this video a lot.
dan is super super sappy, love how he uses the word "soulmate" when referring to a potential long term parter lmao! also love how on they made a connection between themselves and the game by talking about how much they love having afternoon tea!

I'm so glad they decided to date Damien, even if it was at the insistence of a lot of their viewers. He's by far my favorite dad in the game, and I really hope they at least complete his second date before they finish their playthrough. His storyline is so wholesome.
((I'm also really glad that people are enjoying the series now, because I remember feeling like the only one who really enjoyed their Undertale playthough and now I can join in on the happy feelings))

Happy thee years of DAPG aka the best thing that happened to the phandom
Considering today's anniversary I'm glad I enjoyed this video so much. I kept zoning out of the last one but with this one I was pretty engaged all the way through, mostly because of the top notch bants. And they seemed very happy and smiley
If the next installments are as fun as this one I'll end up genuinely loving this series

I really liked that video! and happy birthday to DAPG (has it really been three years?)!
I've already seen Markiplier's playthrough of DD so I'm kinda glad that they didn't do the same choices as he did (though I would have liked to see their reactions to the hookup scene).
I think this was the best episode so far, I agree with everyone who's been saying they're warming up to the game

I'm kind of sick, so I honestly don't have the energy to make a full post, but I haven't seen it mentioned here yet, so I hope people get what I'm talking about without me going in depth with references. (I'm sorry)
What do you guys think of Damien's comment about enjoying something, while also acknowledging the problematic nature or history that this thing might have? Also, Dan's following comment on how he enjoys Kanye's music, while also being aware of how he is problematic as a person. While, I suppose this is a rational approach to life and how to enjoy things, remember, not everything is pure and untainted, there's usually a dark underbelly to absolutely anything, but I'm just surprised that nobody seemed to bring this up. Mostly due to people's recent comments on deppy sort of taking the quiet approach to whatever their youtube peers are doing, in this case pewdiepie. It felt like Dan's comment in particular was a bit dismissive, idk, or maybe he was right and that you should be allowed to draw a line between appreciation, while also being critical? What is everybody else's thoughts on this topic?
I'm not really digging these videos, because they're so far apart. That's usually the case, though, isn't it? I was feeling the blues after the last video, but now that they've finally updated it, I just don't care. Also, I know that people seem to really like Damien, and unless there's a lot more to learn about his character that makes him seem more charismatic/interesting/relatable/admirable then I just don't get his appeal. He seems to be a caricature of a goth most of the time, also the main dad persona is so obnoxious that it just doesn't mesh well and I think a real life Damien wouldn't be so keen on a guy like him at all
but it's only a video game

I actually thought Dan's outlook here was less dismissive than Phil's. Dan's argument seemed to be that if you enjoy the good in something you also need to acknowledge the bad, while Phil's response was to just take the good - which I interpreted to be finished with an unspoken "And pretend the bad doesn't even exist." It seems like a very Phil way to go about things, but also the exact kind that would lead Phil to still be chums with someone like Shawna or to never unfollow Felix.000dia000 wrote: Tue Sep 12, 2017 11:01 pmWhat do you guys think of Damien's comment about enjoying something, while also acknowledging the problematic nature or history that this thing might have? That video was so goooooood. The top part being Phil's comment on not going to bed in an argument. Cute. Cute af. Someone write a fic.
This is such a small and irrelevant moment, but I really loved when Phil stopped and noted that there was a part that would be good for editing illuminati into? I bet that happens a lot and it gets cut out, so it was fun to see. I also feel like, in general, they're not cutting out as much as stuff as they used to. I wonder if it's just comfort levels these days or in part to make the videos a bit longer. Regardless, I am here for it.
Other things I'm here for: Their reaction to "napping together" as a date option. Let's not pretend that wasn't like... half of 2009, boys.

Makes me wonder how they might individually react to the pewdiepie thing/shawna thing/any drama thing, as opposed to how they enable each other to be passivealittledizzy wrote: Tue Sep 12, 2017 11:12 pmI actually thought Dan's outlook here was less dismissive than Phil's. hi everyone
!! finally sauntering out of the woodworks in lieu of a new DD video. i haven't a clue what i'm doing so... :number1:
like everyone else has already said, i loved the video! i was a little disappointed at first at them picking damien (i have a soft spot for robert, what can i say, and it seems dan does too), but i ended up really enjoying it some how so that was nice! cute bants all around as always. phil looked amazzinggg as always (more checkered button ups pls)
also cute moment that i might be making up: @ around the 5:10 minute mark, i thought i saw phil give a little nudge to dan during them laughing abt the 'sleeping together' option which if i'm not wearing my deppy googles
and even if i am, the giggles were were far cute enough for me
