Ahem. if you can't tell, I'm on a phanfic reading spree, so...
He Had The World: http://grooveyle.tumblr.com/post/132213 ... e-world-15
Summary: AU in which Phil is hired to kill Dan, superheroes are real, and Dan falls in love with God.
If the links doesn't work, just change the url to 'grooveyle'.
Singing Songs that Nobody Wrote: https://archiveofourown.org/works/5771674
Summary: If you have a soulmate, their favorite lyric gets tattooed on your body. Phil is a singer, and his favorite lyrics are his own. Dan loves the lyrics.
Better Off As Lovers, and Not The Other Way Around: http://archiveofourown.org/works/939260 ... adult=true
Summary: Dan and Phil have a system of pretending to be in a relationship to get them out of awkward situations, but Dan takes it too far the day he signs Phil up as his plus one for his five year school reunion. Dan didn't even want to go, but his ex-girlfriend is going to be there so it's too late to back out now. ~aka the fake relationship au that no one asked for~
Amaranthine:
http://archiveofourown.org/works/9479150
Summary: amaranthine (adj.)
undying, immortal; eternally beautiful
(or the one where dan and phil get separated two times but still manage to find a happy ending)
4A:
http://archiveofourown.org/works/9267440
Summary: Most people’s soulmate tattoos are fairly short – “excuse me” or “nice to meet you” were common phrases. Most people just don’t say that much in one breath to a complete stranger. Most people, however, are not Phil’s soulmate. Thus, while everyone else has pretty, dainty phrases on their forearms, Phil has an entire paragraph crammed between his elbow and his hand in teeny tiny print.
---
Dan's a flustered mess when he finally meets his soulmate.
Danfiction:
http://archiveofourown.org/works/686007 ... adult=true
Summary: Phil likes to indulge in phanfiction every once in a while, none more so than the work of one particular writer; @danfiction. But when their latest fic comes a little to close for comfort, Phil must question long-held beliefs and break through new barriers.
...I actually have projects due tomorrow, but my mind just find ways to be very unproductive.

I don't know if these has been rec'd yet, but.. "Oh, That's a Thing" by CharlieLovesU is great imo:
http://archiveofourown.org/works/8748316
In this fic, Dan used to have a crush on Phil but got over it and currently plays up being "domestic" with him to mess with the Phandom. However, it is also due to becoming self-aware of it all that it ends up making him rediscover his crush and fall in love again.
It has a lot of pining (on both sides, and it's more of an implied pining with Phil), stays compliant with D&P events around last December up until January (which is when the fic ends), and will make you want to bang your head on the desk in frustration. Fortunately, it is already finished (unlike when I first saw it - it only had 1 chapter; I was stuck on hella lot of cliffhangers).
My other rec is "The Torture of Small Talk" by aroseintheimpala (same author as "Better Off As Lovers, and Not The Other Way Around"):
http://archiveofourown.org/works/624906 ... _work=true. I'm torn about it since I think it's good but also is quite angsty at times. Also, Dan and Dodie are BFFs in this one, which I find quite fascinating to think about (if they actually became close friends IRL).
Last rec is "and my fate has begun to change" by ovely:
http://archiveofourown.org/works/966425 ... _work=true. Not quite polished and needs to hasten its pace a bit, but I think it's a rather lovely read. Basically, Dan gets an inspiring piano teacher instead of his evil one, and becomes a piano youtuber.
It has only started and Phil's not in it yet. I've read the comments and it seems the author will be adding more tags as they progress since they didn't want to promise including something they couldn't follow through with.
That's all I can think of on top of my head.
I was also wondering if there are more fics with a similar premise to ovely's fic (wherein Dan's a different type of youtuber). Any recommendations?

Also, I just finished Thoughts Likened to Rain (the one I reccomended yesterday), and it's so good! It's a horror, murder-mystery type of thing, and if you're up to some gore, graphic violence, and some sexual content, you should check it out!
This isn't a rec, I might do a compilation later, but I just wanted to say that I love this story and everything written by the author. This story is one of those things I think about a lot, and I'm glad someone else has read it. Sorry for my kind-of useless post here, but to anybody else, go read
listentomeimcool for any horror or creative AU fic

Letting Someone in Can Change Your Life by
winstonlives - au where Dan and Phil meet when Phil moves into Dan's buildling. (WIP, but complete and being posted every day)
How About Forever by
notreallythatuseful - This is a series, first two parts are complete. I don't usually read stories where Dan and Phil get together later on but this is so focused on them being in love and a developing relationship and less on angst of how long they weren't together, and it's so well written - I'm hooked anyway.
No, We're Not Calling This Fate by
everythingisalot - AU where Dan and Phil meet when Dan's mum gets a girls number for him, but it's a wrong number and he texts Phil instead.
In The Beginning by
kimberly_a - I recced the first part of this (Creeper) a while back, but she's made it into a series. Now Creeper has two more parts and there's a standalone. Dan and Phil in 2009, through Phil's pov. Highly rec!
hearts don't break around here by
aroseintheimpala - Dan and Phil get into a stupid fight, and Dan is really sweet and tries to make it up to him.
love in the 21st century by
percybyshes - Dan and Phil make an accidental sex tape.
call it a hunch by
deletable_bird - The first time Dan brings up posture, Phil is hunched over his laptop and feels rather as if he’s been caught in the act.
because we are fools by
queerofcups - Another fic where they don't get together until 2016, but queerofcups is an amazing author and this proves I will read and like anything by them.
We Are Young by
kimberly_a - Dan and Phil go skinny dipping during their 2010 Jamaica trip.

This is my first time rec'ing a fic on here but having just read
a softer beginning by
dantique (deer potter) I couldn't resist. It actually made me cry and feel lots of feels I wasn't quite prepared for

I don't know if somebody has already recommended this one, but it's so good I really wouldn't be surprised if it was.
The Phanfiction called 'Psycho' by TheCoumie on Wattpad literally left me speechless and it was on my mind for a week.
Here's the link:
https://www.wattpad.com/story/10934381-psycho
Note: This story contains violence, gore, sexual content and strong language. If you're sensitive to any of those topics, I
HIGHLY recommend to
NOT read this.

So, one of my all time favourite fics suddenly has a surprise sequel
http://archiveofourown.org/works/10316141 - high above the highway isle (but I could see for miles miles miles) by islet (ugly link as I'm doing this on my phone)
I'm sad that it appears to be their last phanfic as, honestly, their writing is the best I've come across in this fandom. I loved it (and also the first part, read that too if you haven't!)

It has been recced, but since the original author has taken it down (it contains plagiarism

), that link is a reupload. Just a heads up in case that changes anybody's decisions/views regarding it.
But yes, I was full-on sobbing when I first read it. Then I read it again soon after and I still cried.

I just need to share that, since I just got an ao3, I was able to read islet's fics for the first time....and oh my god.... my heart will howl (till you pull it off the ground) KILLED me. I was lying in my bed in tears by the end. It was that perfect kind of soft angst that doesn't make me feel miserable, but instead leads to me to clutch my chest in longing. And then I saw that, by some crazy serendipity, islet had posted the sequel ON THE DAY that I read it. I can't imagine the ache of everyone who had to wait over a year to read this sequel... Anyways both of them were so gorgeous and I just needed to share that.

If you liked the newest DanAndPhilCRAFTS video, you will like this phanfic. It's by one of my favourite phanfic authors and it's unsettling, creepy, clever and all-around fantastic.

I need to recommend this extremely long and well written Wattpad fic.
https://www.wattpad.com/story/24894838-misfit-phan-au
It's a WIP called Misfit - it is basically an AU where Dan can see ghosts, but don't let my horribly short description put you off, it is really amazing.
It's very long though it took me over a week to read, as of chapter 34 it was over 640,000 words
it's now up to chapter 44 (it's probably like reading five of the HP books)

Popping in to rec the author SpectralNyx because I realized that I never have and had to rectify. They've posted two fics on AO3 (one a WIP) and they're both incredible imo.
The first is
Edge of the Universe. It's like reading many au's in one lovely fic.
From the Summary:
The second is
Exogenesis Symphony (the WIP) - A friends to lovers vampire fic.
It's quite wordy (currently sitting at 9 chapters with 269,171 words), but everything I want in an epic vampire au. I believe the author plans to write one more chapter followed by an epilogue. Updates are quite sporadic, though, so not sure how long we'll have to wait for the conclusion. Please don't be daunted by the word count, btw. It does start off a bit slow, but stick with it and you'll hopefully be thankful and also give it the praise it deserves.

I second the rec of Nothing Like a Storybook. So, so good.
Here's an amazing one-shot called
Us, As Told by Other People, by
AgingPhangirl. I love love love the characterisation. Pay attention to the tags if you're iffy about smut.
"People make a lot of assumptions about Dan and Phil, but what happens when Dan starts believing some of them. You can’t actually ship yourself with your best friend, can you?
Or: the five times Dan was guilty of over-thinking things, and the one time he wasn’t."

I really enjoyed this fic about nail-painting:
Up On Heaven's Boulevard
It's very sensitively portrayed, and it was very in-character. The author's writing is really lovely (I've been checking out some of their other stuff, it's great) and I felt that they handled this topic really carefully. It was very gentle and realistic, and I'd highly recommend it.
