John Waters made his film "Polyester" in "Odorama." Every theater patron got a scratch-and-sniff card, and was cued to scratch the "odor" that corresponded to a number flased on the screen /movie-trivia.
Just here to say that I love john waters and that's probably my favorite john waters movie!

I hate monopoly with a burning passion, but I would watch the hell out of that. Simply for the drama. Gosh, can you imagine? I'd cancel everything and call in sick to work and just revel in the suffering.

Adding a late shout-out to Dan's latest male mentions from his recent liveshow:
Ansel Elgort, Tom Holland and Cole Sprouse. The boy has taste. (Or was it Phil who mentioned TH?) IDK, but I'm headed to Spiderman tonight.

Apparently there is / will be a "Game of Thrones" edition of Monopoly. In.

Cole Sprouse's tweets are what I'd imagine a mashup of Dan and Phil tweets would be - like 60% Dan, 40% Phil. And now I want the Amazing Cold Sprouts Are Not on Fire collab that I know will never happen.

They also did this for the Wild Thornberrys Movie! Perhaps less high caliber film than a Waters movie... my family were the only ones in the whole theater. But 7-year-old me thought it was the coolest thing ever! I think to get the scratch-n-sniff cards you had to buy a certain fast food chain's kids meal, and it was in with the toy, so it was like this whole special thing.

That's so cool, I never knew this was a thing! Granted, I am only 20 and still quite uncultured...but I guess you learn new things every day, right? I do vaguely remember scratch n sniff cards coming with some (I think?) Polly Pockets when I was little and thinking they were the coolest things for about a week until the smell wore off. Maybe that's why I liked perfume samples so much as a teenager, ha.

Regarding the gaming video discussion: I would love a Monopoly video one day, regardless of how long it ends up being. I would watch the heck out of that or any board game, really. (Just think of the domestic arguments!) I honestly have no idea what it could be but I'm hoping it's about as good as Dan hyped it up to be. I don't get off work until 10pm tomorrow so I could use a good pick-me-up before I head off to dreamland.

Dan and Misc Watch 2017
I have a problem (July 6, 2017)

Prompted Dan Mention
27:50 (chat) I named my kittens D and P
“Did you name them Dan and Phil or just the letters D and P” “That’s cute, thanks for naming your cat after me” “I’d love it if you tweeted a picture of the Dan and Phil kittens, that would bring me joy”
Unprompted Dan Mention
40:35 (after taking a damn internet quiz to see what job he should have. Results: humanitarian or judge) “I mean, I’m not a humanitarian, but maybe being a judge would be fun. Though then I’d have to go to law school like Dan and that didn’t sound that fun.”
Neutral Dan Mention
14:00 “I’m sure Dan has told you the story of us missing the flight. I’ve never missed a flight in my whole life, it’s the first flight I’ve ever missed”
“Dan’s gonna tell you it was all the taxi driver’s fault, but he did leave his passport in his jeans, put it in a suitcase, lock the suitcase, put it in a car”

22:17 “Did a little thing for Markiplier [at Vidcon], which you’ll see on his channel at some point” “So that was exciting, that was really nice that he asked me to do that. And Dan was in it, too”

25:54 “Go and watch DanAndPhilGAMES because Dilly-pops got pregnant from an alien”
[new dapg vid out tomorrow, yay]

29:50 “On AP, Dan curled my hair”
“So if you want to see Dan hold a 300 degree pole next to my head, there’s some danger for you. Who needs prank channels when you’ve got that”
Miscellaneous
2:55 “They do say every universe is happening at the same time in a parallel space” “They all exist, so there’s one where the common household pest is a panda”
-ain’t got time for pandas as i, like every Canadian, am still waiting to befriend a house hippo:
-any day now, it’ll happen

04:00 “I could legit build a treehouse— I just said ‘legit’. As if I would ever say that. I’m gonna start saying it, you can’t tell me what to say."
-

24:10 “I’m normally a pancake boy”
-yeah and we’re all sick of hearing about it

30:25 (chat) I loved your curly hair
“Was it just ‘cause it was something new? Or was it ‘cause it looked good? I don’t know. I feel like curly hair is the cool thing at the moment, though. I’m just the final person with emo hair. It’s staying though, guys.”

32:40 Tossed a spider out the window, just like the centipede from a few weeks ago. I think this is their security strategy for stalkers, just constantly, preemptively, throw bugs on everybody walking by until they all learn to stay away. Innovative.
Phinal Tally: said ‘Dan’ 8 times
~8/44.5mins = 0.17 per min

Honestly I wanted to reach through the screen most of the show to like push his face away, he’s too close to the camera now and I miss the old lounge/couch setting. Like he’s in my personal space, back the fuck up Phil. I really was not feeling it today; pleasant mindless smalltalk is usually great coming from him, but I mostly just found it all grating today.

So is he going to start hinting about conventions at some point too, or is that left to Dan because with Phil it would be too obvious trying to inconspicuously bring up convention prices/value in between a one man show all about analyzing mini oranges followed by 20mins of pancake chat. Because if any part of this is what he was marinating in his brain at the beginning of the year, idk man..

Thank you fancybum for those mention-mentions, they're golden I would love a house hippo tbh

So this is late af why am I always late buuuuuut I just wanted to say I really enjoyed reading everyone's perspective on healthy relationships, and especially appreciated that y'all went outside the box and considered individual personalities and everything! God bless the nuance, in in-depth's name we pray, gaymen
It's interesting because for me, when I was younger (18-22ish) the idea of such a close relationship made my skin want to crawl all the way off into its own house, but now it's really appealing? Like the idea of having My Person To Come Home To (or they'd come home to me whatever you know what I mean) is almost a relief. And not just in a "two people to fight off The Purge" kind of way.

Plus then I'd have someone to garden with! smh

And there are definitely those in my life whom I love (and more importantly, like) enough that I could imagine doing that. The idea of hanging out in the same space while also being romantically involved is often conflated (or at least it seems like it is) with being all up on each other all the time always no breaks BURY US IN ONE COFFIN and I think that's ridiculous lmao. It is totally possible (and pleasant, even!) to just Be Together without Doing Stuff Together. So. Yeah. I also really enjoyed the acknowledgment of GW2, etc. as a legit (I DO say that and it's not weird, so reach for the stars Phil) social activity.

Like rn I look like a dweeb dweebin' it up on the computron, but I think this is a social activity. You know? I've had moments where everyone in the room was on tumblr or something and it didn't feel like a "milLENNNIALS!1!!!1 " moment, or anything haha. It was just...nice.
Anyways I know I just reiterated what other, more coherent people said, but honestly my kneejerk reaction to the OG "is this healthy?" question was "it's a codependent no from me" BUT then reading everyone's thoughts and looking at context made me change my mind. And I love that. The vibe here, I'm diggin' it.

sorry for typos!

Yeah, it's definitely not always easy; you described it perfectly as a balancing act,
haha. I don't know about you, but where I'm from there aren't many people who are going through the same balancing act experience, so if you ever want to talk just let me know!
Completely unrelated to the current ls topic, but I was rewatching some Game Grumps episodes (it always comes back to the Grumps with me, sigh) and I found this interesting tidbit that reminded me a bit of deppy and all the different conversations we have about them. It doesn't directly relate to them in any way of course, but I still found some of the parallels interesting, and for me, having a guy's personal experience and perspective was pretty interesting, so I transcribed it real quick:
A: I think there was a time in my life where I did, I was like, "Oh man, I think I'm--
I think I'm bisexual, as they say."
D: Really? Did you?
A: Yeah. And-- But, now I don't. [laughs] There's your story.

emotionally sensitive. There was a-- there was a guy-- this is getting really...

A: Yeah, this is getting really personal.
D: Let's do it.

D: Right.
A: Sixteen, seventeen, and like... I probably would have, like, dated him.
D: Get outta here!
A: Back then, yeah.
D: Wow! Wow.
A: Um, he was like, my best-best-best-best friend. And I actually never met him in person,
he was like, internet guy. So maybe that added to why that felt real.
D: Sure, sure.
A: Because it wasn't actually like--
D: Yeah, it's possible you would've met him in person and been like, "No, actually..."
A: Yeah, "That's just a guy."
D: [waffles on a bit about attraction at a young age before you have many sexual experiences.]
A: Well, it makes me wonder like, would I have? Like, if I had the opportunity back then.
D: Right.
A: Would I have, and would that have changed my perspective now? 'Cause I feel like if I still sorta had that mindset-- Like I can kinda like-- I can kinda go back to that time in my life and be like-- and sorta like, feel it again, not genuinely but like, I can empathize with that feeling.
D: Right, right, right.
A: Um, and it's like, man, like, maybe if I went down that path, like... I would be, uh, a bisexual male for real--

My experience as well. Very hard to untangle and sometimes I got that "aha moment" literally years later. That girl at university? *Realization hits like a ton of bricks.* Woah. Nice memories there at least, nothing to cringe about. Just a whooooole other interpretation of our interactions in retrospect

I know discussion has moved on a bit, but I'm surprised that no one brought up the circular lounge flat when finding out they have curved walls... I have a feeling the wall he sat in front of could be the wall behind the curved window.

What episode is this?? I'm super intrigued now. I love the Game Grumps, I feel like Dan and Phil would never have this conversation in a video, they seem to be much too private for that. It probably helps aswell that GG has no face cam, so it's easier to hide your face (literally) and emotions. Interesting find :D

I find these so interesting to read! Has anyone else noticed that Dan brings Phil up unprompted so much more than Phil does with Dan? I never noticed it before reading these timestamps, Phil seems to talk more about random things and mention Dan a few times whereas Dan mentions Phil ALOT and talks about on topic things aswell. I wonder if this is to do with the length of their liveshows or just the way they are in general?

Great idea for stalker prevention, throwing bugs out of the window "yes and we're all sick of hearing about it" (pancakes) made me laugh too. I don't mind the pancakes, I'm with him on IHOP.

ty for transcribing that!

ninja edit! yeah I just wanted to say the "best-best-best-best friend" thing was Too Real. That's exactly how my ~yes homo crushes~ happened, haha. It was a shock to realize what the hell was going on, it literally just felt like ultra-intense biffles (at first).

Shit's hard to untangle
[offtopic]Haha, nah, they're a separate thing. You should totally check them out, though!
I don't know if their humor is your style or not, but they are pretty cool guys in general.
I adore them. And yeah, it's so fascinating hearing him talk about his sexuality in a past-tense sort of way... like you said, however he wants to ID is fine, but it is so different from most experiences I hear. And I could see it being similar to deppy's potential experiences in a number of ways, but that's just pure speculation.

And yes, Danny is the chillest, most supportive bro. Bro goals tbh.[/offtopic]

D: Yeah, yeah.
A: I don't know, I grew out of it. I think I was just like, really sensitive as a kid, so I was like,
emotionally sensitive. There was a-- there was a guy-- this is getting really...
D: This is getting heavy. This is gettin' a heavy Pokemon episode.
A: Yeah, this is getting really personal.
D: Let's do it.
A: This is weird, putting this out there, but there was a guy, back in the day. Really back in the-- I was like sixteen, maybe.
I would be, uh, a bisexual male for real--
D: It's hard to know, dude.
A: --instead of jokingly talking about fucking Jason Momoa.
D: [laughs] Sweet, beautiful Jason Momoa.

~fin~
What episode is this?? I'm super intrigued now. I love the Game Grumps, I feel like Dan and Phil would never have this conversation in a video, they seem to be much too private for that. It probably helps aswell that GG has no face cam, so it's easier to hide your face (literally) and emotions. Interesting find :D
It's from the Pokemon FireRed playthrough, ep 91! I'll put it under a spoiler for anyone who wants to hear the full context. Arin's story starts at around the 3:23 mark, but if you listen to the beginning, Danny also has a little anecdote about how he wondered if he was gay as a kid because he had LoTR posters on his wall instead of posters of half-naked girls like his friends, which they have an interesting discussion about, too.

And yeah, the Grumps are definitely more open than D&P in, like, every way. Can you imagine a collab? I kind of want one solely so I can witness the trainwreck. And I say that out of undying love for both parties.

Unless I'm misunderstanding you, I think I had the same mental image!

I have absolutely nothing to base this on, but for some reason this is how I pictured it:

[offtopic]i was on here before i went to sleep and had a dream where deppy uploaded a super in-depth apartment tour showing all the rooms, then in the end it cut to footage of them sitting in front of a blank wall and they said "...but none of this matters anymore because we moved house again two months ago and you didn't even notice!"[/offtopic]

Love the little juggling Phil in that diagram. He's having fun in his mysteriously-laid out apartment in the shade of a huge bamboo.

oh my god, this just had me laughing so much! what a great drawing. I very much appreciate the playlist via hdmi, the juggling philly, and the portal. also the glass windows. v accurate.

I hadn't really pictured anything in my head yet so thoroughly, BUT: when Phil tilted up his screen to show the full length of the bamboo in the ls, you could see the curved ceiling. so I am thinking that... this part of the house is kind of dome like? if there exists a round room like the one you drew, I feel like the part where Phil streamed should be in that as well, because that'd make more sense. just a cozy cave for bros to hang out in
also: you labeled it the sofa with the iconic crease, and I think that the sofa in the fancy round room with the TV that we've seen a couple times now is the new sofa. the old, iconic shitty sofa is where they streamed together and phil streamed the past few times, with the muse poster, in the downstairs area that is apparently filming area.
I pictured phil to be streaming yesterday in the (one of many?) upstairs area that is their "private rooms". Same as Dan where he streams, with the piano and the shelf, that seems to be in the upstairs lounge as well, right?
gosh, why is the layout of this so complicated. come on here and confirm or deny, please, deppy. also why is this so bloody important, i don't even know what i'd be doing with this information, but i.... Need It.

edit: cherrybomb3 i hate you for that life is strange and monopoly comment. i laughed but also fuck you.

I have nothing substantial to add to the discussion (when do I ever), it was a good liveshow, Phil was very hyper, but I laughed so hard at this bit, I'm not even sorry for this useless post:

Lol that was definitely A Moment where I was just like 'smh Phil'. Very not smooth.
It was definitely more my mood than anything he was doing (because he was just doing his thing, same as ever), but I just wanted more.. substantial..? inane chatter. Meh.

It's because Dan talks way more. Not just about more things (but obv that too), but like if anybody transcribed every single word of their liveshows, Dan's wordcount would probably be double Phil's. He also engages with the chat/PMs more. So just by nature of all of that, Phil's name comes up more frequently than Dan's with Phil. And even though Dan can talk in circles a bit and go from topic to topic (leaving some thoughts unfinished, boo), I appreciate that there's more going on. With Phil yesterday it was just frustrating because if I'm going to commit some time to what he has to say, like give me something to work with, damn.

Looking forward to the gaming vid though. I feel like it's going to be a physical one? Maybe? Dan kind of made it sound like it'll have that embarrassment factor that games like Just Dance have (he said we'd be covering our faces while watching?) so.. can't wait. Maybe.

That's my problem right there, I've never been so I'm probably just bitter and don't know what I'm missing.

for me it varies, sometimes I enjoy Dan's quick changing topics and deep discussions more, the way he delves into topic after topic and keeps me on the edge of my seat, always staying aware of what's going on. but at other times that exactly I find a bit stressful, and I am more in a Phil liveshow mood, that for me feels lighter and "safer", in a way, with the easy chatter and many laughs. I value both a lot and usually enjoy both of them, unless I am really not on the mood for whatever's happening that day.
