I'm so hyped for this video, I hope Dan takes his role seriously and find the perfect balance of good outfits and hot messes.

This. This is exactly the content I want from them, i can't wait for this video. I'm so hyped for it, I put the work stuff I'm currently buried under aside to delurk. I want it now. (And tbh, knowing Dan the outfits will probably be so bad we will all feel sorry for Phil. Once we're finished laughing.)

Anecdotally, I was in a restaurant at the weekend and two people in Sonic and Tails costumes actually walked in and started chatting and taking photos with staff/diners for some reason? (Dan and Phil would have died, or plot twist: It was Dan and Phil, their holiday was to sunny, beachy Leeds and they were doing some guerilla marketing for the gaming vid between relaxing).

Anyway back to the point: it spurred a conversation between me and my friends about furries, and like 3 of them mentioned Fur Affinity. All my friends spent a lot less time on the internet in the 00's than I (or D&P) did but it seems furries and Fur Affinity was quite a widely known meme (that's what we ended up talking about at brunch haha).

Completely off topic but I got the train from Manchester to Leeds at the weekend (went to the cinema, think Dans 'what NOT to do at the cinema' and you're halfway close to how bad it was omg) and someone had like a rainbow furry tail on? And at Leeds Pride last month I saw someone in a full fursuit for the first time in my life. Idk what this adds except to be like 'hey I know Leeds too' [/Offtopic]

HOW WEIRD, I thought there was some kind of gaming convention going on because Sonic and Tails were wearing lanyards and hanging out with some teenage-looking guys and girls, but perhaps it was actually... a furry convention. To be honest, the suits kind of freaked me out they were like realistic and anthropomorphic at the same time it just made me feel really uncomfortable! Also funny that neither of us lives in Leeds but we were both there at the weekend![/Offtopic]

To bring this back on topic, I love Safiya SO MUCH and that coat is great. This 'internet chooses my outfit' video is actually the kind of thing I'd expect to see on her channel. It's my greatest wish for her to collab with Phil (and Dan but I think she'd have better chemistry with Phil haha)

the holiday stuff, god i SCREAMED at the donut pic and zoomed terribly close and revelled in my freshly labelled bisexuality, i swooned at phil's pic, i smiled at the bryony pic and all the other stuff.

I said before that Phil's mystery box video reminded me of something Safiya would do as well and I was reminded of her again with this concept. I kinda want a collab now as well..

I keep thinking about this coming Phil's video and smiling and thinking how WEIRD it is that this is even a thing now?? When say even a year and a half ago it would have been just a fanfiction prompt? Phil Lester is really out there, doing the boyfriend picks my outifts tag without actually being a boyfriend picks my outfits tag and it's a real thing, even more so is something that we thought it could HAPPEN AND IT DID.

[Offtopic]Sorry for continuing to be offtopic but as furry conventions were mentioned I had to bring up this heartwarming story from Canada last year.

Long story short, a furry convention was being held at the same hotel that some Syrian refugees were being put up in. The convention attendees were warned to be sensitive as it might be a culture shock for the refugees. As it turned out, the children loved the animal suits and ended up having a great welcoming into Canada. A wholesome little story if you wanted your day brightened![/Offtopic]


I am genuinely starting to think that deppy lurk on IDB, sometimes it's just a little too on-the-nose to be a coincidence. Of course, they could be getting their intel from places like tumblr or twitter that also have the same thoughts or ideas as us, but it does make me wonder... either way I couldn't be happier for a "boyfriend picks my outfit" vid (because, let's face it, that's what this is). Would love to see some high fashion stuff on Phil due to his angular features, but I reckon he'd feel its too far out of his price range.

I'll be honest when I got the notif for the #ClothesforPhil tweet I was hesitant. I knew instantly that some of the replies would make me cringe a bit. I'm maybe? in the minority that don't want to see Phil in a crop top, booty shorts, fishnets, etc. Nor do I think he would ever present himself that way online. So. Small secondhand cringe.

BUT THEN the heavens parted and Phil blessed us all with what is totally not a boyfriend tag. I'm just so excited!!! What a time to be alive. I'm just... I'm so ready.

Also I'm really really curious, does anyone else fully believe they lurk here? I've had my suspicions and made jokes about it but... a few pages back during the... "troll" someone mentioned cherrybomb3 and I've also read people believed he lurked on GG as well. This was before my time in the phandom so I'm just ??? about all this. But things do seem very coincidental sometimes.

Yup - I feel like if he's letting Dan buy clothes, Phil is going to be setting a budget, unless he plans to return everything afterward. I also wonder if Dan will appear on camera or just be off screen like the Not-Milk challenge or not in the video at all with the clothes just pre-packaged. How far into the phanservice is this going to go? I don't like to get my hopes too high.

Like... potentially expecting a gaming livestream and then getting Akinator, again.

I thought she's the one who actually started the "i let strangers pick my X" trend, or at least made it popular on youtube? Well Phil just followed her on twitter so maybe this collab could happen.

First of all, the look Dan sneaked at Phil when he saw the red-haired question... lmao. (Kinda reminded me of the "dropbear" moment? Like he's thinking on his feet?) Then Dan calling Phil "not an actual ging." Phil interrupting Dan in the middle of expressing how much he loves ginger people and freckles about how he is quite freckly... aww. I just... ow my heart. Cute.

That akinator video was so disastrous that I'm surprised it was even uploaded. Still, Dan's comment about the audience giving them more ideas for short, tacky videos over something "Life is Strange" is kind of self-explanatory. It's just clickbait is all.

I can't believe that they left in the comment of Phil being slightly ginger but overall just a "mousy brown". They're being so self-aware and real lately. I have a theory that Phil doesn't like all the sort of criticisms people like to throw around that he's "fake" or a "man-child" or whatever, so he's breaking down and being more open about admitting his age (twice now!) and now acknowledging that he dyes his hair. Then again, we've already seen him and Dan do this with being more open and extensive with their male attraction mentions. They seem to have become a lot more mature in recently too, and less inclined to sort of perform the sort of "fanservice" that's actually kind of cringey (like Phil dropping his child-like persona to a more real-human standard and Dan has stopped using his mental health as the crutch of a poor joke.) Probably everybody else has but me has noticed, but it's been so slow and gradual that it just hit me that they really grew up in the last year. Also, they definitely lurk here, no doubt about it

They actually could've put (GONE WRONG!!) in the title and it wouldn't be clickbait. That definitely didn't go where they (or I) thought it'd go but I like it when they get thrown for a loop like that.. it's like when something unexpected happens in The Sims. The most interesting part was where the slaughtered everyone's ginger!Phil theories though.

Also Dan first brings back the cat shirt, now Phil brings back the OMFG shirt.. I feel like going about this but I have no theory to go with it. I'll go anyway just for fun.

Anti-Akinator was kind of meh. Mostly because the game didn't really work. Luckily they had some funny/cute moments. They have just got back from their holiday though and the Make A Wish day took priority, I get that.

I noticed they have asked for more game suggestions, I do wonder if they've already got Hallowe'en stuff planned out and are now trying to think about what to do in the build up? Or maybe they just really want to listen/interact with their audience more like the live gaming.

Yeah good point, I suppose this is really just an internet version of 'I let strangers pick my outfit/makeup', which I feel like Saf definitely started. Phil couldn't really go to Westfield and ask strangers to pick clothing for him, I guess - not only would he (and Dan, if he was filming) get swamped, but I imagine him being a bit too nervous to walk up to strangers!

I also agree with Catallena, the mystery box is definitely something she would have done too! A collab next time they're in LA would honestly be amazing, they could think of something really wacky together I bet.
