I don’t really think dan and phil have much control in how a convention announces them. I’m sure vidcon mexico is run by different people separate from the other vidcons. When they asked which creators people wanted to see everyone asked for dan and phil...together. It’s not that surprising then that they would go on to announce them together.

Agreed. I also think they don't have a say.

Dan and Phil may be completely separate creators now, but I think everyone knows they're basically a package deal regardless. I don't really get why Dan won't be at London, and it's frustrating to not know exactly why he isn't going, but I think generally Dan and Phil are still a joint entity. Maybe not in the content they make, but they (and Martyn) own IRL, will probably end up working together in some capacity in the future again, and hell, they even talk about each other like it's a given everyone should know who they are to each other. Besides, I don't think there are many people who would mind meeting both of them as opposed to only one lol.

Anyway, I'm very happy for everyone in Mexico! This is awesome!!

Oh, the use of the word raro=queer rubs me the wrong way... I somehow feel like they Google translated that part... 'He's here, he's queer' because we use the word queer (cuir), it means the same as in any other place, whereas raro can still be used in a derogatory way, not accusing vidcon México of homophobia or anything but it seem poor wording / translation. Personally, I would never translate queer as raro if only for the social/historical usage of the word (calling a queer person a rarito... Not nice)

Google translate told me ‘weird’ and I changed it to queer cos of his Pride slogan. That’s due to the limits of my knowledge, I didn’t know the meaning of ‘raro’, I’d guessed rare, but that was wrong, and I didn’t know the proper word ‘cuir’. That’s interesting they did that.

Obviously they didn't meant any harm and it can be taken as nothing because queer=weird=raro would be fine but if queer=not straight/cis=raro that's not so fine. I think that they didn't bother checking context at all which I consider very important when translating! They could have said "Está aquí, es queer..." It would have been fine and meant the same as Dan intended when he put it on his sign and most of us would have understood anyway.
(Cuir is a Spanish adaptation of the word queer, some people use it, is practically a neologism here I reckon)

At the risk of stirring up the same old, I love that he’s popped in and answering people, it’s good to see and hear from him, and that he’s accidentally called us ‘happy whores’ the daft boy, but the best info being ‘it’s as vague as that’ and ‘when it’s ready’ is obvs why it’s nicer if he spoke to us often. I don’t suppose there’s a point me saying this, I just feel it and could do with, well, saying it. Also my leg hurts, if you missed that (joint jam turned a corner, now it’s more leg apparently).

Hmm, if he *is* home, then that doesn’t explain vidcon London ... though maybe it does, perhaps he wouldn’t have gone if it wasn’t specifically making up for the Mexico II snafu in 2018, or maybe he’ll be away again that weekend for work, who knows. (I hope he is home, obviously, but I find the idea of him sitting at home while Phil’s at vidcon down the road a little- rankling, so hopefully he’s busy that weekend.)

I'm happy, I'm extremely happy for Mexican phannies because damn they waited long enough but yeah if he's in London but not popping in at Vidcon.. catch me be disappointed, what's new. Especially with that seance thing, like yeah II is over now, we know, no one said you couldn't do something else on stage. Might wanna sound bit happier there Danny. Also I still think going on a convention for one day would be a good way to ya know, keep a fan base happy for the upcoming projects, but what do I know, I'm only a marketing expert, not Daniel howell /s

I took that more to mean that II specifically was long over, like after the watch party they pretty definitely drew a line under it (a year ago yesterday, in fact!) and yet, here we are again. I’m actually really interested to hear what they have to say about it with all this time, distance and change between now and then.

Wow Dan is really being vague :') see Dan you can communicate with us and not spoil anything, just need to ignore the people pestering you about it, or even better giving a vague acknowledgment is fine. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth how he has been acting :S and he expects us to support his projects. I hope once he releases his projects that everything is explained to be honest. I understood the lack of communication with BIG as that must of been a brave and difficult process for him, so we will see what happens this time.

I'm here to say that I cannot fucking believe Tana Mongeou is going to Vidcon London but not Dan. He obviously isn't obligated and far from me forcing him to because hell, I hate social situations too.. but yeah big sad hours

However I'm thrilled that we're gonna have a joint q&a because damn i've missed seeing them interact but I'm curious to see if they're gonna avoid talking about their lack of online collabs. Whatever, I'm excited and happy for mexican fans, it's so amazing they're doing it, i'm just me over here overthinking over talking
