Or 2017 - the year of Phil continuing to loosen up more and engage with more of his audience. This is so great for the artists out there, congrats guys!
I think this is a great move by Phil and for Dan allowing him to steal his idea.
Also I think a Japan trip is on the horizon, though I would think maybe after his 30th only because wouldn't his family and friends want to throw him a party?

I can see that. Have a party on the 30th (it's his golden birthday!) and then go to Japan in the beginning of February. Just in time for Valentine's Day I mean what?
It's really weird but with the "new branding" Dan and Phil have totally switched roles. Dan is now the cute one that says the weird things (even though they're not innocent lol) to which Phil reacts to and Phil is the hot one that mocks Dan. They're still themselves but it did shift slightly but it seems less persona-y and I think they're both happier this way. Also ugh get out Cat lol
I don't see any problem with Cat doing this too? If he's not okay with it he can tell her now since she announced wanting to do it in a way he will see it. She's not just some random Youtuber stealing his idea, she's his friend.
Past discussion, because I don't think this has been mentioned (if it has and I've missed it, sorry!):

Just in general speculation about who is a top or a bottom tends to make me grind my teeth. Not when it's because of the person's own words (like alittledizzy's examples of things Dan has said), but when it's based on looks or ways of acting or age, which unfortunately it often is. It goes beyond assumptions about what the person prefers to do in bed and involves all kinds of attitudes about masculinity (or a lack of it) and so much of it is just such bullshit. Am I cranky about this and a bit defensive because of personal experience? Maybe.
To be clear, this isn't me being annoyed with anyone here, I'm just talking generally.
Yes, all of this. Also I'd just like to point out that it's pretty heteronormative already to assume there has to be a "top" or "bottom" in same sex relationships at all. There usually isn't just like there usually isn't a "feminine" and a "masculine" guy (or girl) in same sex relationships. This is also not aimed at anyone here, I just wanted to add this since it's a common trope.
momoroki wrote: But just gotta raise the question - do you think the "Dan is a bottom" jokes in the phandom are a part of this? Are they just cute inside jokes or are they actually kinda offensive?
Do Phan rumours/speculation about his sexuality come into play when it comes to Dan's sexualisation as a feminine looking male or is it just that he looks pretty and people want to comment on that?
Well I find it extremely offensive and distasteful. Instead of gender equality and sexual equality whatever one's orientation, some people seem to have the idea that gay relationships have to fit into rigid yaoi roles.
People's preferences are literally their own business, and yaoi does not belong in a real person fandom. If that sounds offensive, sorry, but frankly so do the constant "Dan's a bottom lol" comments from some of the younger fans. Kids, that's not your business and not how life works.
People are allowed to like yaoi if they want...but I personally find it distasteful to write such rigid & often fetishistic roles for gay men. If assumptions never carried over into real life...well...but they clearly do.

I knew what you meant! Sorry if I came across like I was being rude or offended, I just wanted to comment on Dan's insecurities without sounding like it was in regard to his weight. That doesn't really make sense but I don't know how to explain it lol. But again sorry if I came across like I was policing you, I got that you were saying it like he didn't grow into himself yet. Plus there's nothing wrong with not being super skinny!

It's "ugh" because that's what Cat does, jump into other peoples' things. And even if they were bothered by it they probably wouldn't say it because she's considered a friend. Sure she's allowed to do it and nobody is holding #Headersfor as a copyright but
boy did i miss a lot of discussion but aaa i'm looking forward to what dan and phil have to offer in 2017 :3 i'm glad phil is engaging more with his audience and whatnot.

I wonder if they're going to be involved with the Brit Awards this year. Dan saying that his whole agenda was empty and that there were no secrets/career things planned for 2017 threw me off. I guess that maybe he wasn't including the Brit's when saying that though.

i'm not sure o: i guess we'll know if they say anything. i'd be hype if they are involved though!
Excited for #HeaderForPhil, it's indeed a great way to connect with his audience. The fact that he is taking that step in the first place makes me happy because it really does feel like we won't get any big surprise side projects anymore and that they'll finally focus on YouTube and their audience again. I'm here for it

I've been feeling like 2016 was their last Brits for a while actually. I'm not sure why, maybe because I noticed that they didn't do red carpet last year? I think a three year streak might be a nice one to end it on.

I honestly believe they're done with BBC based on certain comments and stuff which sucks but it's funny because I feel like a lot of youtubers are branching away from youtube since it kind of looks like it's dying/selling out but I'm not complaining that Dan and Phil seem to be committed to youtube more than ever. I'm sure they'll be financially stable for a WHILE after that tour. They'd probably be able to retire if they're smart with their money and could just do youtube for some extra cash but who knows.
side note: Danny Noriega is coming back to youtube and I've never been so pumped in my LIFE #dreamcollabthatwillneverhappen

The Brits aren't associated with the BBC though. Either way, they seem done with both. I don't think they ever enjoyed hosting that much in the first place. They loved the radio show because they could create their own things and stuff, but hosting ~srs~ stuff never really seemed like what they wanted to be doing. The Brits were a thing they said yes to in 2014 because of it being a great opportunity which they then stuck with for two more years. It's just like Dan saying he would rather produce a documentary than just present one. They're creators, not hosts. All the power to them.

(which is sad to think of, dan you are a wonderful human being regardless)

BBC's firm stance that remain part of the BBC family while ignoring the rest of the Internet takeover bunch speaks volumes to me. I think we will see them back in some capacity, either back with a show or producing one, they have accumulated a ton of experience to be able to produce or co-produce something (y do they get to live my dream life of producing im so jealous)

The Internet Takeover was kind of a flop, nobody was here for it except for the times D&P were on. Considering it was Deppy's first original show concept (the Sunday shows were just as pimped up request show after all), I'm not sure whether that has reflected well on them.
But I'd looooove for D&P to do occasional radio documentaries and specials like they used to do. It'd be less time consuming than a regular show and I really enjoyed the ones they did. Especially the Happiness one which gave us this softness:

Dan has always made fun of/commented on his weight, calling himself "fat", "quite fat", etc. I think he feels that way from when he was a tween and he was apparently a bit tubby, especially since he lost interest in sports. He said that the weight just "stretched upwards" rather than him losing it. I think he's just not really lost that feeling, I mean he's clearly not overweight even at his "softest", but I think he got the whole "pounds/kilos mean everything" mentality that can make you feel like shit. He's a tall dude and the number on the scale is not reflective of your worth but maybe he felt that way in the past and felt bad for it so decided to mock himself in self-defence
