A couple of things no one has really brought up here:
PJ mentioned Phil in a recent livestream, another just casual in passing remark about a conversation they had. Apparently the conversation was about same-day deliveries.
Vidcon Mexico has rescheduled for next May. Dan and Phil aren't on the guest list yet, but I'll be honest, I am not surprised nor do I blame them. I think they know signing on to anything that involves Latinx fans getting their hopes up is something they can't do unless they're 100% sure they can commit to with no chance of having to cancel, and with the world the way it is right now I'm shocked anyone would be committing to international travel within the next year.
At this point I wouldn't even mind an Animal Crossing update. If he's posting roughly once a week then my standards on what kind of content I'm expecting go down (in a good way).

Yesss. And I wonder if it's more awkward gay stories? Because he never ended up responding to those. I also wouldn't be mad if this video is unrelated and his next one is awkward gay stories, though.

A bittersweet milestone (I’m just amused tbh, someone else tweeted saying “road to 2 mil”).

I remain wonderfully impressed at how his love life post university (which, if you didn't know, he finished uni and moved home in September 2009!) is just off the table. I'm happy if he wants to continue doing like that - those stories of his were SO damn relatable and I'm sure he has more. This can totally be the new series and I'll be thrilled.

I really am quite proud that he's figured out how to open up without exposing his private life publicly, which was the big fear around coming out (along with other stuff). I like this post-coming-out Phil. Relatable, breezy, funny content where he just seems more...open. Love to see it.alittledizzy wrote: Fri Jul 10, 2020 6:41 pm I remain wonderfully impressed at how his love life post university (which, if you didn't know, he finished uni and moved home in September 2009!) is just off the table.
Also I got outed to my crush by (probably) the same website when I was 13 and used the same lie to cover it up. She did turn out to be gay, so... She's married to someone I dated in high school lol

Just here to say that I have been loving Phil's content lately! He could tell stories about his life for hours and I would listen attentively. He has seemed so open lately, while still having boundaries. I'm here for it.

Yay we got a bit of Things I Thought Were True Gay Edition! Bless his little gay heart
And his crush on his friend... I have thoughts. I wonder if Phil ever “got a guy” by which I mean date (before 2009). I don’t think he would talk about an actual relationship, but I would love more of this. And he has finally set the record straight on SMG. Also that was a good spon for him.

I didn't realize Phil had a history of revealing people's true names in stories about his past? Is this a thing? Was it like, during liveshows or something?
I think he was referring to his last video where he said he was going to make up a name for the guy at the shop and said his real name instead (which he bleeped out)madytastic wrote: Fri Jul 10, 2020 7:44 pm I didn't realize Phil had a history of revealing people's true names in stories about his past? When he talked about buying the guy a drink and spending £4.50, it made me think of when he spent all that money on Dan on their first IRL date at the Sky bar. Dan has always been expensive and worth it to Phil. For example, See 17:17
And See 41:36 (or start at 41:25 to see Phil flirting with Dan by laughing at him).

I loved the video and Phil choosing posters of Japan to remind him of the trips warms my heart!
Ok I have stopped obsessing over my Phil reply (this is a lie) and here are short video thoughts.
I really liked this video, even if my issues with second hand embarrassment had to make me take a pause sometimes. Poor baby Phil and his gay struggles. As funny as this video is, it really has a deeper level of something more sad as well. You gotta feel for him and all the people who genuinely relate to his stories. Makes me even happier about the life he gets to live now.
That said. Spike?? When Angel was right there????? Phil, i'm disappointed.

I quite enjoyed the video (aside from some painful/second-hand embarrassment moments)! His confidence and newfound level of openness is honestly really amazing and I'm living for it.

I hope the art theft issue doesn’t lead to Phil taking down the video like Dan’s Tinder vid. These two vids are top tier.

I recognized the 'City Pop' ones Phil showed because it's art from an artist I follow on Tumblr. I took a look at her Twitter and at least her Displates don't seem to be stolen since she thanked Phil on Twitter for the support and linked the site. It sucks if other artists' art got stolen by them though.

On the topic a while back of the Natalie Tran and Dan comparison, see 16:48.
Also happy 8 year anniversary of Dan’s “first” Younow.

Why was it Dan's "first" Younow? Because he had been in Phil's before?

He mentions a night out where he got recognized as the guy from the commercial in the same early 2009 video where he "predicts" Dan and also talks about trying out for big brother... so unless that happened to him twice that story would have been February 2009. Poor Phil seems like he really didn't have that wild university experience that a lot of people thought maybe he did! But at least we know he got the happy ending later that year.hello9217 wrote: Sat Jul 11, 2020 1:12 am Oh I loved this video. It really seems like Phil really didn’t have much luck with other guys until dan. This video just made me happier that they found each other![]()
