Someone is talking about us to the mods of this antiphan blog...anyone want to confess?
If we can go meta with the conspiracy theories for a moment, I'm under the impression the mod asked themselves that question after lurking or maybe even posting here and getting called out. Just a thought.

I was going to carry this over into private messages bc I don’t want to drag this out nor do I want to seem like I’m publicly attacking you, eevee. But since it’s a subject that evidently matters a lot to me, and since i've received a few PMs expressing support from other users, I’ll finish up my thoughts here under a cut. anyone who's bored of this conversation, please feel free to skip on by!
I definitely don’t think you hate dan and phil or that you’ve been unreasonably rude to them. You and I just clearly have different opinions on how to treat celebrities. The reason for my initial post was not just to express how I feel about your experiences with d&p at 2013 vidcon, but to use that as a means to respond to the general sentiment of expecting dan and phil to always make time to meet fans.
eevee wrote:Were we circling around the restaurant entrance, trapping them inside? No. We were actually off to the side of the entrance, sitting down.
This sounds very similar to what you said in another post with:
eevee wrote:I think it was rude to run away from us when we weren't at all being loud or pushy and patiently waiting for them.
This reads to me as, you guys weren’t being horrible or the worst possible type of fan. Therefore, you should be rewarded for your decent behavior, and they owe it to you to give them some of their private time? Whether the 7-10 of you were quietly waiting by an entrance or staring through the window calling out their names—both cases are trapping them. Were there not a separate exit, they would have no way of exiting the restaurant without acknowledging you, and as you proved the next day, had they walked out and calmly tried to ignore you, you would have chased after them and given them no choice. i just don't think there is anything wrong with them doing what they can to avoid encounters when they are busy or don't feel like speaking to other people.
eevee wrote:I do feel like when going to a con it is a mutually agreed upon between the creator and the fan that if met randomly, that's okay.
Well, you did say in another post
eevee wrote:This was after con hours so if they were rushing anywhere, it was to a hotel or party. Big whoop.
So…the convention was over. Even if attending a convention included an unspoken agreement that if a creator bumps into a fan, they must stop and talk (which, I certainly don’t agree that that’s an assumed part of going to a convention. They have scheduled meet and greets for a reason—that way creators can interact with fans in a controlled way they are comfortable with and prepared for), if the convention hours are over…then that is the creator’s free time. And I wouldn’t call it "random" to wait for somebody or chase after somebody. Didn't you say they were outside of their hotel? I can see why they wouldn't be keen on the thought of interacting with fans at the location they were staying for a few nights. But honestly, even if it was totally random during convention hours at the convention center, I don’t think dan and phil ever have to stop and chat with someone no matter where they are, and I wouldn’t hold it against them if they smiled, waved, and just kept walking. (As we know, this isn't what happens. Typically they are lovely to fans who approach them, and I assume that their fans are usually lovely to them. But my point is they don't have to be, and they don't have to lean into every possible encounter with a fan/invite encounters upon themselves.)
eevee wrote:I honestly don't see the connection here and can hardly respond, but if a beautiful woman is harassed on the street obviously no, she owes the men nothing. However being a celebrity in my opinion is absolutely different from that.
My point here was, that woman is a human the same way dan and phil are just humans living their lives. She attracts strangers to her, dan and phil attract strangers to them. For different reasons, sure, but in neither case are they asking to be harassed/forced into conversation just for going out in public. I don’t see how their celebrity status makes this situation any different. Clearly, you do. (i guess i should acknowledge that as cis dudes, dan and phil are certainly less vulnerable than a woman being harassed, and that harassing a woman because of her looks is sexual harassment rooted in entitled misogyny. so, the two situations are certainly not identical. i was just trying to humanize d&p the best i could with this comparison.)
eevee wrote:My experience with D&P was way before the Chrisinta Grimmie thing happened and obviously at the time no one was worried about that, but today yes that is a real concern and it's 100% valid for D&P or any youtuber to be taking that into account when meeting fans. Bodyguards, security, all that's A-Okay.
I understand that your encounters were years ago; I’m not just talking about your experience with them in 2013, I’m responding to what you’ve said about how it’s rude of dan and phil to delay posts that reveal their location and how you've stated that it’s disappointing that they try and avoid fan encounters sometimes. You said the fact that they don’t do “spontaneous free meetups" makes you respect them less. I just want to drive the point home that their time is their time, their lives are their lives, and meeting strangers every day in their free time isn't part of the job description (except durings M&Gs) and shouldn't be an assumed part of any celebrity's job.

I'm just writing this because I feel responsible for the backlash that eevee's post about her experience at Playlist has caused (as it was me who asked her to talk about the situation a few pages back). So, first of all, thanks eevee for sharing your experience, I enjoyed reading it
I, for one, think many of you are taking things a bit far. I don't think Dan and Phil owe their fans anything either (we totally agree here, and no one has suggested otherwise actually) but it would have been nice of them (assuming they were not in a hurry, which we'll simply never know). As simple as that. Did they have the obligation? Of course not. Would it have been nice of them? Yes. (Again, assuming they were not in a hurry, which I admit we'll never know).
I know they do the meet and greets, but this is not exactly the same as just being nice to fans imo, as it's business, they are getting paid for it. Of course they are nice to fans in this situations, but I think there is a slight difference caused by the fact that they are being paid for it. When D and P announced the tour, I remember there was a lot of backlash because of the meet and greets and how this was unfair to fans. We really are well-trained lab rats, as today it seems paying 100 euros for meeting two 'normal guys' is the norm.

I have no idea what does Starbucks's pumpkin spice latte taste like, I need to step up my game I guess. Maybe I'll just bake the cookies, though. That's a good reason to rewatch D&P's video.
I guess what that Nicole something girl said last year really offended Dan, so he is still on his Phil defense squad mode.

Why is it the first time I watch this precious video? Reminded me a lot of this:

They don't get paid at playlist though, do they? The difference between a controlled meet up and meeting them in the wild (lol) is that the m&gs are organized and "safe" and youtubers are prepared for the interaction.
Unfortunately, organizing that costs money, so it can't be free for the fans. I just wanted to say that this is not about them getting paid versus having to meet people for free, at least for me.
And off topic: Do they really get much money for just the m&gs at the tour? If we subtract the front row seats and the merch goodie bags from the VIP prices, how much is left that's just paid for meeting them?

I complain when it is 23 degrees so I wouldn't be able cope with double that! I hope the theatre has good air conditioning!

He does look very cute, but then again Phil takes the best pictures of Dan, so I'm not surprised. Also not surprised that Dan is still wearing all black, even though it's a stupid thing to do imo.
But I imagine that the theatre has good air conditioning.

43'C is my hot shower, but to be fair I wear black everyday even in my humid mid 30s, what is important air-conditioning at all times
I think Phil will suffer more as the heat will trigger his migraine if he does not avoid it.

First, omg, i live for pictures like that.
Second, oh, come on, i have the same problem like Dan (ok, maybe i have some grey, navy blue and white colour in my closet). I hate Summer and sun, but in Summer you get just used to it. There is no other option since half of your clothes are black. (and i like to wear sweaters in summer too, we both need help)
