I really liked this video! Phil looked so nice and had me dying within the first two minutes by "dancing for this group of lads" lol.
Also @5:46 Phil says "we could make a life up there together" about a house, which was very cute, but then starts to try to kinda deflect it by saying "I mean, I think our characters...". Interesting moment.
I don't think he said that to retract it, i think he was about to say something else and then dan interrupted

Thought I'd try my hand at some timestamps:
0:48 - dan hasn't even actually started mocking phil for his lack of skill, but phil's already like nope you ain't going there. I love how he stops dan before he's even started, because he knows where dan was going
1:03 - "you are an amazing morale booster and you're really fun and nice" (where does dan put his hand there? it looks like it's just on the table, but then he moves it like he's moving something). It was said in that dan mocking tone, but it was also kind of sweet? Because you know dan enjoys playing games with phil, because even when he sucks, he still has a lot of fun playing with him.
1:38 - phil's sad he doesn't get to be the lady character
1:43 - "I will find you in any world, Phil!" - already pointed this out in an earlier post, but lol for Dan 'mocking' the au's (because he knows it's true)
1:47 - phil dances for the lads
3:02 - "just bang him in the face" lmao phil
3:19 - phil indignant that dan's leaving him behind. I feel like this happens a lot in games
4:28 - "i'm gonna give you some sweet rubs" what is up with phil today omg
5:11 - phil calls dan 'dad'. i don't know why it's so endearing that they both casually call each other 'dad' but it is
5:48 - "we could make a life together up there"
6:00 - dan sticking up for phil's biceps
6:28 - phil apologizes for saying jesus. Is that not something he usually says (in videos)? I know he doesn't go for the stronger swear words, but he says stuff like hell and ass.
7:05 - phil is so proud of his stairs. just let him build his forever home for goodness sake and stop making him shoot things
7:25 - blond markiplier is phil's person-sona. dan will unpack that later (please share with the class, dan)
8:00 - dan doesn't want to go near a 'moisty mire'. I think phil's intrigued otoh
8:16 - phil successfully using the phrase 'break the sound barrier' correctly. I love that ongoing joke. phil's continuous trolling is what I live for
9:14 - they love the 'down it fresher' jokes. a truly harrowing time for them
10:02 - dan wants to see the booty. but not phil's character's booty. love the breaking of the fourth wall there. he's so self-aware (and I love that he/them can joke about it with the audience)
10:22 - phil almost goes too far with the your mom joke. I love the moment after. They've mentioned phil's mum in a couple videos, but not really dan's. it's refreshing to hear them talk lightly about dan's family (I was also intrigued about phil saying dan's mum might be watching. Was that just a throwaway comment, or does she maybe watch some of their videos?)
11:00 - "danny. open me. release yourself" ...okay phil
11:30 - dan belongs in 'salty springs'
14:24 - phil is literally me in any crisis situation (and dan is me @ me)
14:45 - dan: "that's shit!" did phil audibly gasp there or am I hearing things?
15:20 - I love their messy af endscreens

Oh yes the biceps bit!!
God I need them to play more of this - I can’t really say if the reason for them being so much more loose with things here was because they concentrated on the game? Or because they haven’t made a video in a while and are in a good place?
Also with all this house talk that they could spend their life there and phil and husband stairs... I’d like to think that they’ve got a move for somewhere forever home-ish lined up after the tour.

Excellent video, I'd almost say it was worth the wait. Almost
I was gonna write commentary on this, I really was. I really sat down for it, opened up Notepad and went in. And then they just started some of the best banter of their careers at top absolute speed, and it all went so fast that I just gave up. I think I need at least two more rewatches to properly digest 70% of what was said. Something about making a life together and moms and glasses!Phil idk.
I kinda went in with low expectations and it ended up so much fun to watch. I really wouldn't mind if they revisited it in the future.

Love the timestamps, whatdoiknow! A few of my favorite bits:
4:28 - "i'm gonna give you some sweet rubs" what is up with phil today omg
This was a triple take moment for me. I feel like even six months ago that would have been on the cutting room floor. We're kind of desensitized to their progression since it's so constant, but - this video does have a different feel to me, a 'one step further' feel.
5:11 - phil calls dan 'dad'. i don't know why it's so endearing that they both casually call each other 'dad' but it is
Why is this so damn cute! I had the same reaction when we realized that they call each other generic white guy names when they're being sarcastic with each other. It definitely ups the ante when it comes to the third wheel feeling for viewers, and I love it.
5:48 - "we could make a life together up there"
This fully gives me the impression that when they're playing games like this or Breath of the Wild or anything, really, they sit around planning their future and what kind of life they'd have if they were characters in the game. Honestly I can see why Dan thinks Phil is fun to play with even if Phil isn't good at the games, if that is a reflection of their casual gaming dynamic.
10:22 - phil almost goes too far with the your mom joke. I love the moment after. They've mentioned phil's mum in a couple videos, but not really dan's. it's refreshing to hear them talk lightly about dan's family (I was also intrigued about phil saying dan's mum might be watching. I think I mentioned this in a post once already, but I'm also fascinated by this. We know Dan's grandma watches videos but he's only really kept up the narrative that his parents didn't care/didn't understand his career. It's really heartwarming to get such a casual indicator that despite Dan's negative skew she does actually watch not just Dan's videos but their gaming videos. Also I love that insight into Phil's brain; jokes are fine but he doesn't want to ever really insult someone because what if they watch the video? He's definitely got that lowkey hyperalert anxiety that makes him super uncomfortable with the idea of upsetting or offending anyone

This video left me giddy for HOURS (much like the snow video from the other day)
it also made me reflect about back then when I was grumpy as heck when they announced the gaming channel because I didn't like gaming but now, and by the third video lbr, I think it's the best thing to have happened, I even became a 'i play games in some of my spare time' kind of person because of it... don't mind me, just being sentimental today

It’s funny, I was doing a bedtime, calm-me-down round of watching silly YouTube videos a few nights ago when I came across a bunch of folks playing Fortnite. And I thought, as I chuckled to myself at jacksepticeye gleefully shrieking over his kills, that it would be pretty nifty if our boys decided to give it a whirl. Never in a billion years could I have imagined that they would, in fact, deliver. When it was still relevant? And actually manage to create a hilarious and captivatingly wholesome cozy loung-y video about a friggin’ battle royale apocalyptic death murder game (that like many of you I actually am seriously considering playing now)?
Maybe they’re in a good mood and are happy that spring (and tour) is coming, even with the odd snowy weather in London. Maybe they’ve been working their acting/improv muscles so hard together prepping for II that it’s starting to show in their vids. Maybe they just really enjoy playing the game together and we oughta be grateful that they’ve allowed us to bask in the joy and release they (not so secretly) find in teaming up to mercilessly slaughter everyone who isn’t them. Whatever it is, I must be Oliver Twist ‘cause I’m over here like can we pretty pretty please have some more of whatever’s got my lurking behind out of deep retirement to sing their praises?
I really don’t have anything particularly smart or observant or thoughtful to add to the conversation right now. Just my appreciation for this video and how it reminded me of what I initially found so intriguing about them. The bants and the bond. Them being aware of what they’re doing and calling us out for how some of us react to them sometimes while just letting themselves be who they are. Phil being the naughty little ish that we know he is deep down while Dan shows off his srs gamer side. Them still referencing that d*mn “-ussy” meme and not giving a sh*t what anyone else thinks because it makes them laugh. Love for Dan's mum. Not to mention Phil in glasses and Dan’s hair looking downright sculptural can I get a witness?
You’ve fed us well, deppy. You’ve. Fed Us. Well.

i felt like they weren't putting a show on for us by intentionally saying (gay and married) things, it just felt like natural banter between them??? like the video seemed to not be edited all that much so it was all in the moment type of conversation y'know??
sorry if I don't make sense
basically, it felt natural and the video made me happy!

Yeah, I feel like I've been saying it a lot lately, especially in the last few months, that they seemed to have stepped up their comfort level in terms of what they're showing on camera. But they really do seem to be taking more steps gradually, and this video felt like even more of a step. I think the big difference is both of their comfort levels simultaneously. Like, there's some stuff in this video that in the past would have either 1) been cut from the video or 2) one or both of them would have acted over-the-top or semi-uncomfortable about the comment; I think with some of the recent moments, it's the fact that not only have they kept certain things in the video, but they have both acted so natural about it (i.e. they seem to be on the same page now more than ever). I mean, they will sometimes make a joke out of it or Dan will make a face or something, but it feels like they're laughing with us instead of trying to deflect from the moment.
Why is this so damn cute! I had the same reaction when we realized that they call each other generic white guy names when they're being sarcastic with each other. It definitely ups the ante when it comes to the third wheel feeling for viewers, and I love it.
I know eh! The generic white guy thing is my fav. This reminded me of something I noticed in my first watch but forgot to include in the timestamps. At 11:40 dan says "gotta be sneaky, Charlie." Was he calling phil 'charlie' or do the characters have names? I meant to ask this earlier because it stuck out to me as another 'general white guy nickname' moment, but I forgot.
I think I mentioned this in a post once already, but I'm also fascinated by this. I like your optimistic view - I hope Dan's mom actually does watch, and Phil wasn't just saying that as a generic comment (like oh she could be watching right now because anyone could be). I think from what we've seen in the last year, Dan does have a better relationship with his parents now (well, at least his mom; I don't think he's really mentioned his dad lately), so there is a good chance she at least watches occasionally. And yeah, I love your point about Phil. I relate to him a lot on that. It's so interesting to learn all his little quirks, anxieties, etc.

I'm still processing this video and all of the things everyone mentioned. I just... I loved it so much? It feels so much more open for them? Phil especially.... warming my heart with all that shameless banter.
Everyone's literally said all of my feelings, but I'd like to point out 12:13, when Phil responds to Dan with a distracted "You.... cocky.... lemur."
Just. I love. I love. I'm gonna go rewatch another 4 times.

Lol, “you... cocky... lemur” brilliant, I missed that entirely on my first and second watches (also missed that Dan did actually mean the loot chest, but it was still funny how he elaborated to cover it). About to go watch a third time now I’ve caught up.
It is lovely they’re that much more relaxed and so many of these jokes and comments are funny even without that context, but it’s that which makes us appreciate them more. It’s good to hear Dan’s mum mentioned in a warm way too. They do love their same old jokes, be it ‘your mum’, -ussy, sound barrier or whatever. The sound barrier bit was so sweet, I never expected Phil to stop trolling with the wrong one.

processing is a good word, lol.
i'm on watch through number 2 and just, smiling so much. bless you @whatdoiknow for stamps because there was too much for me to even note down for myself to go back to.
this felt...different. same super relaxed vibe that we're getting used to these days, like we were just watching them play this game on a saturday morning in their pajamas and that is my favourite type of gaming content (i've been watching a lot of twitch lately).
we've had all this before in videos, but they were so sweet to each other in this. makes me realise how much they negate that sweetness and those spontaneous comments? even if subconsciously when the camera stars rolling. i don't know how else to describe it...sweet and more sincere?
edit: you posted while i was writing this @flarequake - sweet is the word of the day! seriously a lot of it felt unexpected to me. and unexpected, i think, because it was coming from both sides.

I think it felt so natural & entertaining because they played a game that they like to play in private too (Phil said on twitter he got 2nd place in a solo game once). It didn't feel like the show they usually put on for the gaming channel where they try and make exciting challenges out of a flash game that they were asked to play and that they'd probably never play in private. This vid feels like them playing a game for the sake of playing a game, instead of recording for the sake of making a good and funny video.

Oops, I just watched the video cause I fell asleep while trying to watch it last night. I really loved the banter and several moments that have already been discussed here, though personally I think these types of games are rather boring.
I'm glad we got a video before Dan's video this weekend but I have a feeling that it was recorded before the Sims video. Phil is wearing the same jumper and glasses as in the pictures from a week ago in which he was eavesdropping on his neighbours. When Dan tweeted those pics, I already suspected that they had been out or filmed a video on the day they were taken because of his fringe (because I think his hair's a bit messier on stay-at-home/non-filming days). And since Dan has probably been busy with his video and Phil has been sick, I don’t think it was filmed in the last couple of days. Oh well, it's not really important and I could be wrong but I thought I’d mention it anyway.

God, what an amazing video!! 10/10 content, for all the reasons people have already stated. I love the way they balance the natural lighthearted snarky banter that comes with being close to someone for such a long time, with an undercurrent of intimacy and softness that speaks to how genuinely well they get along with each other and enjoy spending time together, even after all these years. Just lovely to watch :')

I think it was a reference to Charlie the Unicorn maybe? I haven't seen it in years (literally not since it was big like, 10 or so years ago), but it rang a bell to me so I feel like he may have been referencing that. It felt like a reference to something, at the very least.
And dancy I think you're right, this video was probably filmed on the same day that the eavesdropping pictures were taken! Unless that's Phil's current Outfit that he loves and wears all the time lmao.

YESYESYES to that video! That's exactly the kind of games I'd love to see them play more (especially since I love Fortnite anyways). You could tell they were genuinely enjoying the game and just to watch them so passionate about playing a game made it so great to watch. The bants were great as well. I hope they give us a little Fortnite series or at least do more of those kinds of gaming vids. Also I watched last night around 1am and the storm outside gave me a few jumpscares so that added extra tension to the game I'm so happy about that video!
I think "you cocky lemur" is my new favourite insult

for sure, that's the common denominator for some of my all-time favourite ones. it does bring something different out when it's an 'off-camera' game, for them. i feel like normally there's a little bit more negating though, like cheeky and sarcastic or dry. this was straight up sweet comments to one another, like more affectionate and sincere than we're used to? idk.

I'm so frustrated that views on this are low. I know this is not a Dan-and-Phil problem, it happens with every youtube channel I follow now - but not only have I not gotten any notifications on either account I'm subbed to them on for it, but it took about an hour and a half for me to show up in my subscriptions box and then it was already halfway down the page.
I don't subscribe to that many youtubers - not compared to a lot of people I know. I can imagine if you've got more than five or ten people you follow that upload in a day unless you're following them all on social media/are in fandom or you're someone that is dedicated enough to scroll back to the last video you watched every single day, you would have no idea that they uploaded anything. This is definitely the time when having a schedule would benefit their views, because casual viewers might at least get in the habit of knowing when to check or get a feel for when a video should be there, but it's also just shitty that youtube keeps breaking things that previously worked.

I get phone notifs for all the people I’m subbed to (from clicking that damn bell). With D&P vids the notif comes up the second it’s uploaded and before they even tweet it out. Youtube still sucks, no argument there, but have you rung the bell?

I'm so strongly averse to my phone making any demanding noises at me that I have all phone notifications turned off, but I did ~ring the bell for the popup computer notifications and I'm supposed to get email ones. That's interesting that they work for the phone but not the computer, though? I do still get some notifications, like it never misses a Safiya video, just not for deps.

For the Fortnight video, I got Phils twitter notif, but no Youtube notif and I have the bell clicked...
Hmmmm. I wonder if their app works better (uh, or at all) on different phones (like Apple vs Samsung/whatever)? Well, that’s garbage either way.

Maybe the ~algorithm ~favouritism even extends to who gets consistent notifs sent out
Idk. I liked the video though, yay, that’s my input there
