Dan & Phil Part 52: And They Were Roommates
I really loved this ls but the reason I watch Phil's is because throughout the whole thing I just smile. I'm glad he addressed the reason he was off in his last liveshow was because of his eyes because I think people really were going a bit overboard with the theories that he was upset because of all the speculation on the moon room. Also if he does do Shelter 2 I don't want him to play with Dan. I love Dan but Shelter is Phil's thing and it's so calming and I know if Dan joined he would start yelling when things went wrong.

There are some skin cells that come off when you take off contact lenses..well, I guess it's not REALLY skin since there's no skin in your eyes but like..well I don't know how to word it. But yeah there's something that can be touched/scratched and can be damaged if you pull off your contact lenses in a bad way.
I scratched my eyes pretty badly when I took off my protective lenses after I got lasik, so..not fun.[/offtopic]
I really wonder what his new video is going to be like, but I already know he will look lovely. He really should wear more black, I actually think black suits him more than it suits Dan
Will probably never be over the BONCAS and the beauty of Phil Lester.

While I have never streamed, I do watch a lot of streams, and there are almost always techinical difficulties and lag and cursors not showing and sound issues, especially when people try to boot up a new game they havent tested before. Each one has different needs, and I appreciate Deppy's professionalism and wanting things to be smooth and non-stressful for both them and us. It's one of the things I really admire about their work, its always rehearsed and polished and nice (for the type of content it is, for example the stage show was way more polished than a liveshow, but even those have some element of staging and a plan)LtrllySusan wrote:
Secondly, Phil, stop making livestreaming sound like it's hard You already know how to use a capture card, and OBS is super easy.
I have a theory though that what they are really practicing is their behavior. The closest things we have to deppy uncut are the radio shows and the last bit of undertale (I think), and the radio show was always a wild ride with quite a few ooops moments. Undertale less so, but it was pretty on rails and they new what to expect by then, and got final approval over the footage at least. Live is Live and terrifying lol.

I definitely agree with this. I think the practice is for them behavior wise, and that's - if nothing else - on par with technical practice.Artdefines06 wrote:I have a theory though that what they are really practicing is their behavior. [offtopic]oh god I've got to go take out my contact lenses immediately after this, so uh, brb while I'm frantically googling how to properly take them out. (It's gone perfectly fine for 12 years and counting but wow, this is terrifying. Thanks for the nightmares Phil & everyone else! [/offtopic]
(I was going to say I'm glad we went off the queerbaiting track but honestly I'm not sure if eye damage is that much better.)

Secondly, no idea about the skin layer. All I know about eyes is that mine barely worked,
I was lucky enough to be able to get lasik and my cornea is thick enough I could do it twice.
And that I scratched my eyes repeatedly over the years because I have extremely long nails and I couldn't be bothered to trim them every few days just to take my contacts out.
Oh god what have I done now, I'm sorry everyone for giving you the heebie jeebies
[/offtopic]I'm really curious about how a livestream would work. I'm really excited at the idea, but I can't help but think they might be on edge the entire time and, well, what fun is there to watch someone be uncomfortable when you want them relaxed and happy? So I'm a little bit on the fence about it tbh

I feel like their livestream could go one of two ways...on edge the whole time or super over-rehearsed/theatrical. Either way I'm excited for it and hope that they actually go through with the idea sometime soon. And I'm sure, as with all things, if they stick with it the streams will just become more natural each time.liola wrote:

Have a red velvet cupcake and for fucks sake, dip some toast in your soup. Bye.
If they can do joint live shows then I think live streaming should be totally fine. I mean if they get too engrossed in the game they might let things slip but all in all they are performers and it really shouldn't be too bad. I think that's why the game they choose is hard for them to find. It can't be crash bandicoot where it requires a lot of attention but something like Mario Kart could be good since they play it so much.annabanana wrote:I feel like their livestream could go one of two ways...on edge the whole time or super over-rehearsed/theatrical. phil's ls: my fave is the glimpse we see of the relationship he has with his mom that seems really nice and comfortable. dan exaggerated the cleaning a bit* before the lesters came over but i like how phil basically said if he didn't do the cleaning then his mom would have even though she's easy going. and then later when he texted her about if he's ever seen a hedgehog lol.
*which was funny and i enjoy his humor
Looking forward to these streams that may or may not be happening. I agree with folks that said it'll be similar to the radio show, in that they'll have less control over what happens and editing won't be an option. I hope that doesn't make them too tense, though, because that would spoil the fun as well.

Robotic Phil who? I don't know him (no offence, AroboticPhil). But that was such a good Phil's liveshow though!!! I'm warm and fuzzy all over - and very sleepy, but not because it's boring, but because it's... safe? idk, droopy put it much better than I ever could, but that's what I appreciate, too
Now, the only somewhat substantial thing that I have to contribute is how quickly Phil passed over promoing his Sleepless Night video to talk about Dream Daddy (I know everyone is tired of the bedroom discourse, I'm tired of the bedroom discourse, I'm just saying, maybe it's nothing but it was noticeable for me when I wasn't really looking for anything related to that topic)
Yes to Shelter 2, I don't really care if it's with Dan or not, I'll gladly take both. Double yes to the livestreaming on the gaming channel, again I don't care what they play, I'm just here for them trying new things, I think it's great however it goes in the end.droopy wrote:no drama, no tension, essentially nothing to stress over or think too hard about

Good point! I hadn't considered that it would be very similar to a joint liveshow, but now that actually has me more excited as their most recent joint ones have been a bit messy and all over the place (in the best possible way).hello9217 wrote:If they can do joint live shows then I think live streaming should be totally fine. I totally understand them "training" for the livestreams. It would be so easy to slip up and either say or do something unintentional. I think they are a bit different from joint liveshows, because during liveshows they don't have such a big distraction. I think that it's natural for people lack control while playing video games, annabanana wrote:Good point! and I am definitely looking forward to this. I want more of the off-camera personas I'm literal
It really pleases me that they are comfortable enough proposing this idea. I'm sure I would enjoy the livestreams even if they are guarded and a bit tense, and I hope that if they are, they will manage to relax in the end. Fingers crossed they actually do it!

A live stream could be a nice celebration of 3 million DAPG subscribers. Would be cool if they hit 3 million during a Livestream too. I think they did Just Dance to celebrate 1 million. Did they do anything for 2 million?

Lol, phlamingo phandom. His singing to the tune of Mad World was amazing, I'm here for any hint of baritone!Phil It was a sweet liveshow and oh, black tshirt. He looked so good. I think the hand sanitizer might just be his germophobe coming out, but it comes in fun scents too and he likes his nice-smelling things. Soap might have been enough really.

I noticed this too! It seemed a tad weird to me considering he discussed all the other videos that were uploaded, but just completely brushed over talking about his main channel vid he uploaded. Kinda hoping that wasn't because of the discourse surrounding it.coffeepenguin wrote: Now, the only somewhat substantial thing that I have to contribute is how quickly Phil passed over promoing his Sleepless Night video to talk about Dream Daddy (I know everyone is tired of the bedroom discourse, I'm tired of the bedroom discourse, I'm just saying, maybe it's nothing but it was noticeable for me when I wasn't really looking for anything related to that topic)

The 3M livestream celebration was a great idea! According to SocialBlade, they'll hit 3M in just under 40 days. DnP have never been the kind to celebrate milestones though, have they?
I personally would love if the livestream was for charity (similar to what Markiplier does on a monthly basis) but of course, they don't owe anyone that so I can only hope for it and not demand it. Still, I believe that financially they are in a comfortable position (unless they literally bought a house which would explain all the #spons) so they could use their power for something good and inspire their audience to donate to charity. I would certainly donate!

My prediction for his video is that he's making slime.. Is sciency and would make sense with the hand sanitiser afterwards. But I never get these things right so it's probably him testing his houseplants for diseases or something.
