I didn't realise Phil had been planning to resume liveshows today anyway, but I doubt we'd really enjoy him being tired and ill, we always love it when he's energetic and cheerful after he's been away for a while.

They had reasons to be afraid and deny things, then - and now they're financially stable and personally more secure, confident people - and as a result we get them being more open and things being even more obvious. Don't dismiss that character development.

Well, you have to remember, this was in 2012. A bunch of crap went down in 2012. Mainly that video that shall not be named, the forbidden video. That was leaked and it was a huge invasion of their privacy and Dan and Phil were mad about it and felt that they didn't have any privacy and I guess they felt the need to deny Phan for..some reason. They're a lot more open now however and they've gone through a lot!

No I know, and I have seen loads of phan denial before but not in a huge playlist, so to watch it all at once was a bit shocking. Like I believe they are together and are happy but sometimes you see or read stuff and in that moment you start to doubt what you believe in.

I'm sure if they wasn't together they would continue to shut phan down, maybe in nicer way than 2012.

talking about slightly ot things: i recently rewatched some of dan's videos and actually bothered to read the descriptions and wow i didn't realize before the shipping vid's still reads something along the lines of "it was so hard to make this relatable because almost all ships are gay haha". i'm aware this doesn't account for how dan is today at all and it's not a Huge Deal but it still was a bit disheartening to read - not because i want to make any conclusions about his sexuality or anything, but because it's such an insensitive thing to say i kind of hope he goes one a spree some day and deletes descriptions like these.

I mean, 2012 was an incredibly stressful time for them. They had to work out all the radio stuff, the video, and moving were kind of the stressful things before the success. I remember watching a LS of Dan talking about apartment hunting and how it was so difficult to find an affordable apartment for what the two needed and just the general stress of it all. I really don't blame them for having such knee-jerk reactions to phan in the context of 2012. Moving to London, an expensive city to live in, on around 250,000 subscribers each, give or take, is a risky move for a YouTube career, and I think it would set anyone on edge if on top of that people were trying to pry into your private life which had previously been "leaked".

Dan and Phil may have not been the nicest people back then when dealing with fans, but the fans weren't too nice to begin with, either.

Here is my personal favorite, guaranteed to throw you right back into whatever trashcan you desire. Even though you only ever see Dan you can feel phil behind the camera laughing and it gives you a great feeling of what its like for them to live together. Lastly remember, they don't have to be "together" to be happy.

Questioning is probably a good thing as well, since they're real people. Being convinced of them being one way or the other (and being very invested in that) is only going to make you feel disappointed or sad in the end I think

Not that I know of, but I don't imagine that he would have mentioned if he did. I don't think he wanted anyone showing up to his place of work or something. All I know that is that it was a sort of difficult time financially for the two of them.

Sometimes I find it kind of startling to read or hear things he said a few years ago that I can't imagine him saying now. It's cool though, I think it's really nice to see how much he's grown as a person. That said, I wouldn't blame him for deleting stuff just to avoid a #DanHowellIsOverParty on twitter when someone decides to get outraged about something insensitive he said half a decade ago. I respect when people acknowledge (rather than just erase) that they've said ~problematic~ things in the past, especially when they've clearly made an effort to learn from their mistakes.

He apparently worked in a stationery shop for some time pre-Dan.

do you mean his video i will go down with this ship? i just checked the description, and i don't see anything like that in it. or were you meaning a different one? but yeah he's said some pretty questionable things but he's clearly grown up a lot since then, and i can look past all of that for who he is now. i know i was far from perfect in my teenage/uni years, and i can't imagine that being out there for everyone to judge like it is for him. he has gone back and changed a few problematic things (like privating the vid with carrie and changing the university life vid thumbnail), and i wouldn't blame him either for going on a deleting spree and editing all of that one day.

certain no homo comments honestly break my phan goggles. Like some of the "lol gay" jokes him and Phil used to make sound like such straight boy jokes that i find it hard to believe they were more than friends? Obviously 2009 kind of disproves that but it still makes me a little skeptical. I know it was probably a defense to stay in the closet, but boy were they convincing at times.

I do wonder what they would be doing for work if youtube hadn't worked out. I think it's safe to say Dan probably wouldn't be working retail if he could avoid it. Not that I blame him, it's a special circle of hell sometimes and I don't miss it.

Phil was in some "confused.com" adverts in ?2008?ish? Presumably he got paid for them. I wonder why he didn't list them in his first7jobs tweet. I guess he wasn't sure what to label the job title. Or he forgot...
