I don't know if I'm just PMSing or something (just being honest here ) but something about this tweet rubs me the wrong way. It just sounds so sarcastic and unthankful. Like I at least expected a Dan level of genuine sounding thankfulness. I'm sure he meant it well and casual and I'm just being sensitive about something totally irrelevant, but I don't know. He sounds like how I used to sound when someone got me a Christmas present I really didn't like. Like, dude, I can leave if you want me to.

Yeah at first i kind of read it that way but then i remembered this is Mr. sarcastic meme king, who is either mushy and overly appreciative or a giant shitposting flop. No in between.

(I wouldn't take it too seriously, i'm sure he recognises that without those 6 million subscribers he wouldn't be touring the world and making bank. )

Personally I found the tweet funny, and I'm sure Dan is genuinely grateful, but I get what you're saying. Sometimes I wish he would drop the whole sarcastic persona for a second and just actually say what he means outright

I'm happy for Dan, and I know he is secretly happy as well.
But yeah it does almost seem like he is more excited about Phil reaching a milestone than himself.

Even though I've been constantly reading this thread I haven't posted in a while so, to sum up my thoughts on a lot of things:

1. Hobbit hair: YES EMBRACE THE CURLS DAN. I like his hair both ways, but I'd love to see it different sometimes. I don't know if I'd want him to never straighten it. If it wasn't rare would it really be as special?

As someone with naturally ridiculously curly hair who tried to have an emo phase back in high school, I have no idea how anyone can manage to straighten their hair every day. I gave up after a while and I don't think I've even attempted to straighten mine in five or six years.

2. 6 Mil: I think the tweet is pretty funny. It does make me sad that the subscriber gap between is getting so much bigger. I suppose that could be why he seems a bit....eh about it? IDK. I'm happy for Dan. CONGRATS TO HIM!

maybe i've gone full and it's just bad lighting, but that picture looks like it has been taken with a potato and phil has a 6s, so if i had to guess i would say dan took that with his potato phone and phil's posted it because he's the one that hasn't made his Tweet of the Day™ yet

also lol what is it with phil and sex jokes recently, there has been a considerable increase in frequency and explicity (... if you can call it that) imo, not complaining

6mil: while I imagine that both dan and phil are grateful and happy when they reach this type of milestones, still I don't think they give much importance to it. Yes it's nice but at the end they know that their audience is not that 6mil, some of them are old dead accounts, some are fake doubles ones and others are from people that subscribe to anything. They are aware that they real audience is a little smaller but passionate, that's what counts. Don't remember it but also Phil was casual about his 3mil?

that it could be part of why. Maybe he does feel eh or maybe he's just trying to keep his meme-y self going. who knows? But it certainly makes a bad impression for new subscribers, hahahah.

this is another good point, a lot of those subs don't actually watch, so sub counts don't really mean much today.

No, pixlexia I agree. There is a time and a place for sarcasm, and this sarcasm just comes across to me as ungrateful. Which is a shame because I don't think he is ungrateful, I think he's just trying to be funny. Also this will only fuel the theory I've seen others floating around on youtube comments that 'Dan hates the phandom' - something I don't agree with btw but I'm aware exists.
e.g. this video: For example you can see in felucca's collection that he used to say a lot more stuff about how genuinely appreciative he is and then somewhere along the way decided to just be sarcastic instead He still does say appreciative things but less often - to the point where he won't even say it over getting 6 million subscribers.
He may be slightly miffed about having more subscribers than Phil and therefore feel less celebratory/not want to make a big deal out of it because of this.

Yes I agree, and there were some unusually sexual jokes in his last video, as trashqueen pointed out. Maybe spending so much uninterrupted time around Dan has meant his inappropriate humor is finally rubbing off on him?
