I loved Dan's attitude this liveshow. "I don't care. ... that's what kind of mood I'm in right now. I don't care"

Some of my favourite quotes:
sometimes I take notes during liveshows stop judging me
"stop attacking me for being who I want to be"

"the Dan Howel brand is a shame-free-zone" (the danisnotonfire brand is already dead)

"go [elsewhere] if you want to shame people for their dentist kinks"

The part after "some people cuddle pillows" where he started giggling and had to take a moment to compose himself. Is that the first time he's broken character in relation to the Harru pillow?

On the ear mould for ear plugs "very invasive, slightly arousing, but cool. And probably useful"

"it's good to smell nice... If you're attracted to someone you might want them to sniff you at some point"
I know a lot of people are frustrated at the lack of console games on D&PG, but it sounds like they're trying to market the gaming channel to people who don't like proper video games. (I don't have the exact quote, but he reassured people that they would like the Impossible Quiz even if didn't like gaming and just liked Dan and Phil. Like Akinator ugh.) They probably think there's a larger potential audience if they go down that route? Or at least the potential audience is easier to grow because they're getting people who like their existing content to subscribe to another channel, rather than competing with every other gaming channel to lure completely new people with gaming-focused content. This approach also leaves him free to play the console games he really cares about privately rather than playing them "like a clown for the internet"

lilMango wrote:I personally thought that Dan's attitude was just... bored. That kind of pisses me off, whenever youtubers or even big celebrities act bored at an event. He has a 45-minute live show where he sits in front of his camera and talks to people, and he chooses to act like he doesn't give a single fuck about anything. That drives me a little insane.
There are some moments, though, where he brings up something and I'm actually interested in what he has to say, but I'd say those moments take up about 10 minutes of the total 45.
I agree! I don't know why, but sometimes in his liveshows he seems very defensive about everything, even compliments or jokes (a lot of those running jokes seem very forced now, I think if he's sick of them, then he should just stop).

I did only listen to it in the background though, because I refuse to login on younow and would just be looking a big login pop-up the whole time.

Despite the way this site often talks about Dan, I was slightly uncomfortable with Dan's medical kink. I get ear checks and molds taken often enough, and now I'm gonna have to think about his descriptions everytime I go.

I do wonder if it's actually about the the tour like everyones assuming or if they were looking to leave anyway (especially as they left one show earlier then they had to for the tour)
Maybe the BBC was being awkward about accommodating them but considering the radio show is often pre-recorded and filled by other youtubers you wouldn't think them missing/prerecording two months would be that big of an ask. Of course maybe the BBC is looking to ditch the show all-together and this wasn't D&Ps choice.

Also yes very funny that he actually choose to read out what did you last do to Phil. He could have very easily ignored that.
Very true. They could've been planning to leave eventually. I suspect that's probably the case (which is why I think they're not visibly sad about leaving). And that bit about pre-recording the show is also true. They're only touring from April to June (that we know of anyway). Unless they're planning to do more shows in Canada after all in July or something, I don't see why they couldn't just pre-record their radioshow. Also the tour starts in the end of April, so they could've only missed 2 live radioshows but instead they'll miss 3.

I'm not devastated by the end of the radioshow (maybe a bit melancholy), but I do hope they have something else planned (something that we'll like :D ). I suspect that last recorded radioshow will make me sadder though...Hopefully they'll also announce any potential exciting things to look forward to rather than just having a goodbye/memory recap show

I tried to download the pages from the forum, in case it gets taken down or more people's posts get deleted before it's all archived, but I definitely missed some pages (the webcrawler seems to be avoiding the page 20-30 range on all the threads and I've yet to figure out why).

Inspired by Dan's ls I decided to finally post something on the main thread here instead of just lurking around all the time... So yeah, hi guys! :D

I found tonight's liveshow quite enjoyable, but it seems like I fell asleep for a while in the end... The last thing I can remember is Ben Affleck, and then all of a sudden I woke up to some random kid (phillip_is_here, seems like he has somewhat of a following but anyway) twerking on my phone screen. At first my sleepy self was really confused and wondering why did Dan's voice get so high and eyes change color all of a sudden, before realizing what had happened. But aside from that, I really liked the ls.

I don't watch Dan and Phil's liveshows all too often, because I'm usually fast asleep when they're held and cannot bother to watch them later on (yup, I'm from the lazier part of the phandom). That being said, I am a bit unfamiliar with the format but since I really enjoyed tonight's show I might as well check them out more often. Dan seemed quite relaxed to me and I found myself smiling and chuckling quite often, so it left me with an overall positive feeling.

I'm quite tired and using my phone to post this so I'm just gonna leave it here this time, but I'm really excited to get more into the conversation as time goes on.

Sorry for the awkwardness, I'm feeling kinda nervous joining in the conversation even though all of you seem really nice. Yeah I'm just gonna go back to sleep now haha

this is the first dan liveshow i've been able to watch since october and i agree. i've come to associate his liveshows with that high anxiety vibe, so when i watched him today it was nice to see him being a little less high strung. less room to psychoanalyse but still, sometimes i'd get second-hand stress just from watching his liveshows.
Same to everything.

If they do completely stop the radio show, it would be the end of an era, but I think they feel ready for that. The opportunity to start doing radio came at really good time for them, when their only other work was youtube. Then they started the gaming channel, wrote the book and did the uk tour and reduced the amount of radio work. Now they're (maybe) stopping the radio entirely, which will free them up to do more other things. Change can be good and exciting when it's something you're ready for, and I think that's why Dan's not sad/bitter about it.

Also I find it hilarious that he chose to read out "what was the last thing you did to Phil" question
I have nothing against other YTers but the Radio DJ gig was started by D&P. I am selfish to say this but I don't like other people to profit from the opportunity that they started. It should be D&P or nothing. especially for the Gleam peopleBesides, Radio1 should thank D&P for the online views they receive on their YouTube account.

Did he answer the question "what was the last thing you did to Phil?"

I've literally never thought about that. Huh. That really would be interesting. Especially given that I'm pretty sure Phil listens to them. I bet they dissect and discuss any misspeaks that might come back to bite them in the ass, and probably gloss over or ignore anything they think they can get away with just haru'ing.

I wonder if they specifically set aside time before the liveshow to plan out what they're gonna talk about and run it by each other, too.

Welcome! Awkwardness is practically a prerequisite and embraced around these parts, post away!
None of us here bite unless asked really nicely

You should check out the danisnotonfirevyou1 channel on youtube: up until recently she posted condensed versions of D&P liveshows (highlights without all the saying hi to fans etc), so you can watch past liveshows in less than half the time! It's an addictive time-waster sometimes..
Diyes_Celine wrote: Did he answer the question "what was the last thing you did to Phil?"
Lol yes. The answer was he tossed Phil's new candle (jellybean-scented and apparently horrendous) into the trash because the smell made him want to puke  (but he asked Phil first if he would mind )

I haven't had a chance to watch the liveshow yet - sounds good though from what you are all saying! I'll give it a watch tomorrow night as it's a bit late now.

Haha, whenever they mention they've been out with a girl it's always "oh bryony" or "oh managment" but they more than likely have other friends who are girls or maybe girlfriends but let's not touch on that subject haha

rip radio show u will b missed. really wish dan and phil would be more transparent and honest about these things. part of the appeal of youtubers is the intimacy and d&p feels so closed off and dishonest sometimes despite being simultaneously so connected to their audience, it’s strange.

i could be wrong and i hope im wrong, but they could be just pretending to be nonchalant bc they don’t want to make a big spectacle out of losing their radio show? i mean when the show got moved to a worse time slot and whittled down to 1 hr didn’t dan try to play that off as a promotion to prevent a shitstorm? im actually not sure, i rarely hear anybody talk about that, so if someone could fill me in that would be great

anyway, I find it hard to believe that they would be so indifferent about the radio show, much less quit out of disinterest. (although if they’re quitting for something bigger and better then that would be amazing, even though radio really suited them imo) I’ve always gotten the impression that the radio show was a huge source of pride for them. for someone like dan who seems to think that his youtube career is a joke and is constantly seeking purpose and validation, the radio show felt like a much needed source of tangible traditional media success that he could tell his grandma about. i mean his Facebook profile pic has been that r1 pic for how many years now, and in his DML the radio show appeared to be a huge influence in him rationalizing his career choice. also, the show seemed to require minimal exertion and time so it's hard to imagine why they would quit on their own accord.

but u never know with d&p, they might have something up their sleeves, i really hope that’s the case. though i rmb in the last live show dan said something about the rest of 2016 being up in the air, which doesn’t sound v promising but who knows ??

also i liked the liveshow but i prefer high anxiety dan tbh lol

(sorry i just laughed at 'girlfriends')

In this case I think it's more than likely Bryony just because it was related to BvS and we're pretty sure they all saw it together, right? I can also see Bryony requesting they be cagey about naming her too frequently since she doesn't exactly seem to want to be known as the deppy bff and all the questions that comes with that. get a grip ruth.

Though, hey, Cornelia's a girl and if Phil really did have family for Easter around it could have been her.

Maybe they do if it's something like going to iom, where it would be important for them to be on the same page about what they're sharing. But even in those cases, haven't we found inconsistencies in the stories which suggest that either they don't co-ordinate or if they try to it doesn't work very well?

Generally, I think Dan prefers not to plan what to say in liveshows in advance.
For example here

It was pretty obvious that the topic of the tweet favouring was going to be asked about at some point. He had plenty of time to prepare what he was going to say. But they way he hesitates at the beginning sounds to me like he's waffling to buy himself thinking time, because he hadn't planned his story/explanation in advance.

1:57 "and that's like! - I mean there's nothing wrong with anal sex"
The way he abruptly cuts himself off makes me think he was going to say "and that's like a really personal question!" but then thought that would be suggesting too much, or sound like he knew too much about the stigmas associated with bottoming.

Back to the liveshow we've just had, there was a moment when he wasn't sure whether he was allowed to tell us that they might be pre-recording a final Internet Takeover. If he had planned in advance, he would have already decided whether he was going to tell us that, since that's an obvious (and contractually sensitive) piece of news. He might also have refreshed his memory of the Caspar colabs, but I wouldn't expect him to do too much homework.

Lol yeah. I think Dan likes being ambiguous/mysterious on purpose to troll the phandom. Why can't he just say "my friend I was with the other day" ? I mean, I'm sure people would still speculate anyway (especially if he said "she/her") but saying "this girl I was with" is a lot more likely to cause speculation since that's a lot more vague.

same here actually. I remember the first 2016 ls he did, wow that was depressing. The levels of anxiety were through the roof (sorry if it's not the right expression) but I remember really being genuinely interested in what he was saying even if it didn't make any sense most of the time. I also remember that actually got me really depressed for the rest of the night because everything he was saying was a bit too relatable but let's not got there.
But let's be honest it was way more fun to analyse.

For the radio show again, I hope they are going to make a nice and proper last show to end on a good note. And I also hope they will actually address the fact if it really is the very last one because if the radio show's status is left up in the air even then...

Oh my god this is so off-topic but I was just watched this video

because I was super bored. And around the 2:30 mark he pulled up a picture of Dan laser-ing Zoella's face off that he SAVED TO HIS COMPUTER.
The same one that we talked about a while ago where Dan looked super jealous
Like I find it so funny, I just think of Phil seeing that and being like "omg jealous Dan is so funny and adorable let me just save this" like... what else would he use it for?
He tried to play it off as just a cool gif, like the best part about it was the laser eyes, but we all know what he was really thinking.

Anyways I'm sorry, carry on

Edit #2: Also, in his photobooth he had the challenge videos but also a lot of like 5 minute clips of himself? Hmmmmmm.......

I have made it here! That's after spending ages trying to navigate the gg (its so unbelievably slow and yet so empty there) so I could open the pm's Delta and Oqua sent me so I could actually get a link to this site. Thanks for sending me the links guys, I would I missed you all!

I'm excited to read through all the conversation! 30 pages already! So much happened on the weekend and I missed it (and now I'm going to spend hours catching up on all the pages and updating my profile pic etc when I really need to be doing uni work).

I haven't read the thoughts from everyone re: the impossible quiz video but I liked it because as a teenager I was obsessed with trying to finish all the levels on that thing. I was surprised at how easy I found the questions now I'm older (or maybe I just subconsciously remembered the answers).
