Meanwhile, they leave whole areas of North America unshowed that they could have had a decent audience in. I think the planning of this tour is a bit shaky. I can't speak for the US, but I think it would have been better to have the second Toronto show in montreal instead. The hardcore fans from Toronto that would complain about missing tickets would probably treck it to Mtl, and the casual fans in Mtl that wouldn't bother going to TO would fill in the rest of the places.

Totally unecessary opinion/observation, but it interests me that Dan would go for "Dan Howell" ltd while Phil sticks with "AmazingPhil" ltd. I feel like there's some potential for that to be read into, but IDK.

Dan has expressed dissatification with his Youtuber name for awhile, so I doubt he'd use it again for something that isn't even public or part of his branding. Phil may enjoy his username though because it's a bit more private than his full name.

But yes, Dan's given several indications he wants to drop the "not on fire" branding. Don't recall Phil ever mentioned it (not the kind of thing he discusses generally), but apparently he's attached to it. Both emotionally and legally.

I'm fascinated with the Dan Howell Ltd network thing. But seriously ChannelFlip... why is he still all over their site if this is legit? Could they still be connected in some way? (a subsidiary? does that word even mean what I think it means? I don't business). Like does anybody understand what pewdiepie's Revelmode is? Because I thought it was a network thing as well, but it's part of MakerStudios per the website (and MakerGen is what Markiplier is claimed by on socialblade, but he's also part of Revelmode..? IDGI). If they are taking themselves into their own network setup though, that's really cool (maybe they just really hated ChannelFlip Christmas parties/business parties that much-- too much socialising with people they dislike..?)

Yeah, I know Dan's implied he wants to change his name at some point, which makes sense if we wants to go on to do more documentary-type/production/hosting stuff and what not, too. Maybe Phil doesn't care about going down that route that much, or maybe because he's a sentimental guy he just stays true to his origins (or something?) There are loads more channels on youtube that use copyrighted Dan vids...so why were those the only ones claimed by danhowell Ltd? And did Dan's contract with CF expire before Phil's to enable him to do this? Didn't Phil get a network before Dan? I guess the idea/plan of having their own networks came into fruition after Phil already renewed his contract with CF since his would've probably expired before Dan's.

And what exactly does the network do to benefit the youtuber? I've never looked into what networks actually do. Do networks work with google to arrange how much youtubers get paid per ad? And then part of the youtuber's earnings goes back to google as well as their network?

1. Are those channels just completely taking Dans videos and not even "reacting" to it? Are they fanchannels? are they monetized?

2. It is possible that the actual lengths of the contracts were different.

3. I'm not sure if this goes by person or by channel. A person could have a different channels under different networks, it really depends on the contract.

Meh Dan has owned the danhowell Tumblr URL since 2012 and the @DanHowell Twitter handle since 2013 when fans gave them to him, and back then there was speculation about him changing his username too. And it still randomly comes back sometimes. Won't believe it until I see it basically.

I'm not even sure whether it'd be the smart thing to do tbh. I know plenty of YouTubers have changed their usernames into their real names, but 'danisnotonfire' is such a big part of the brand Dan is currently building that it'd be a weird thing to do now or in the near future. He is doing a tour and released a book where the name is literally in the title. It's not like it's something he never uses anymore like most YouTubers who made that switch. He complains or whatever, but that's it.

If he changes it, it'd be years from now... potentially if/when he and Phil have parted ways. (welp I don't wanna think about a scenario like that oww my poor phangirl heart) Because that would mean that the brand he is currently building, so closely related to Phil, won't be relevant to him anymore.

It just really makes me wonder what Phil's opinion is on Dan's increasing "you don't need to think I'm straight, it's fine" comments. Because if Dan knows that we know (obligatory Friends reference) through his self-admitted lurking on tumblr/twitter, then Phil is obviously in the same loop of what the internet perception is. And they discuss things with each other more than we can know (Dan has said a few times now that he's asked for Phil's opinion on his tweets before sending.. surely that's just the tip of the iceberg) so Phil KNOWS what Dan is doing.

Is he encouraging of it? Or is he only tentatively supportive, as in "Good for you, but don't involve me in it, I'd like to stay private thanks" and since it's kind of impossible for anything Dan does to not involve Phil, that's what keeps the mentions somewhat(??) subtle. Because being more overt would get too close to dragging 'phan' into things and crossing Phil's line of desired privacy? That seems like a difficult dynamic to navigate.

This was great! His whole demeanor changed, more tenseness, heavily implicit eye contact..its great. I really love seeing Phil losing his poker face, its amusing to me and in this case he was totally losing it. Than relief when he mentioned the furry thing I think its funny how people also imply that Dan is the one who emphasized a private relationship when I always thought it was Phil. Mr. I dont like labels and really like to keep everything but my family private. Even as he was beginning in youtube he played characters but never himself. He really likes a controlled image and his private life.

Dan on the other hand is a chronic oversharer. He shares alot to his viewers so he probably struggled to understand phil's viewpoint on privacy in a relationship. I think as the charlie/stephen and pj/mememolly break ups happened, it seemed to cement the idea that the best way to avoid messiness is to keep it private. Dan's sexuality though is something personal only to him. He has a right to share it and I don't think Phil minds but Dan understands the potential of Phil coming out indirectly because Dan comes out. With all the speculation surrounding phan, vday video and all that it wouldn't be a stretch to make assumptions. They really are in a difficult situation if Dan is ready but weary/understanding of Phil's ideas/unwillingness to share something he thinks should be kept private.

Yeah they will pay 20% Corp tax on all their companies so really it doesn't matter whos company it will go under. They will have a shared bank account so they can just pay it out of that and put money into Dan Howell Ltd. (nothing wrong with that)
I would say that both Dan and Phil are employees on each others companies anyway. If DAPG is under Dan, I would say Phil is paid a salary for his earning and probably pays 20% tax. He is definitely not a director so can't get a dividend (and pay the bloody dividend tax, don't get me started on that)

(and none of that probably helped because it is a hard situation that I have no experience in! Gosh I wish I did accounts for youtubers to see how much goes on. Maybe in the future or I move to London)

btw seen the accounts for IRL digital and Fuck me they are doing well for the merch side. Dread to think what they actually earn themselves!
